The Next Batman...

Recommended Posts

Some of the side quests 'Hint' of yet another sequel! What do you think its going to be called and what would the storyline be?

Yeah, these games are gonna be "dropping hints" all the time, like Hush, and the boat with the paper of Scarecrow crap on it.

It's a superhero game with side quests. You can't expect to defeat every single villain and not have what could be hints.

I'd be stoked if and when they made another Batman game though.

Some well thought out opinions here lol xD

But.. they definitely need to have robin/batgirl included in this 3rd one!

ESPECIALLY BATGIRL!! They could make her as hot as catwoman XD

I mean I haven't read any of the comics but know my fair share about batman. Im pretty certain that when this next one comes out that it will be the last installment. Usually when the '3rd' installment comes out, thats when you draw the line and not milk it like Call Of Duty ahaha! Just saying, even though these two games CAN'T COMPARE!

I'd like all of the Robins to be incorporated as their own personas, like Nightwing was in this one. . . With their own story mode, of course.

Nightwing, Red Robin, Red Hood (I'd like this one. Imagine being someone who uses guns in a Batman game!), Damian Wayne...

The batgirls too could show up. Even Barbara Gordon, seeing as the newest continuity reboot gave her back the use of her legs.

I would love a huge free roaming Gotham city next time.

I know one of the highlights of AA was the claustrophobic setting, knowing you were trapped on the island added a tense atmosphere and AC kind if replicated that just with a bigger playground. Next time though it would be nice to incorporate the batmobilecand be able to drive around the city GTA style.

I would hope there's no combat challenges/achievements at least. I don't like to waste my time doing that, I prefer advancing the story and getting new surprises.

However, it would be sweet if we could play with multiple characters as we did in Arkham City. Mostly Batman, of course, with a little of Robin and Batgirl (though I hated her in that movie, I think Rocksteady can create the correct version of Batgirl)

I am actually worried that the next game is going to suffer from sequel syndrome when the previous game is so good it will be almost impossible to actually make the sequel as good as Arkham City.

I am not worried about the villains. Many of the ones you saw here you never met or had tiny encounters with them only. By the way, even besides those on whom the file is shown there are many other villains. Some of them were even displayed in Arkham Asylum. One I can think of is pair, Tweedledee and Twiddledum. They are ridiculous, but if Rocksteady can make Robyn and MadHatter look bad ass they can with these too.

Then there is man-bat, firefly, Maxie Zeus (we saw Zeus casino), killer moth, red hood, Joe Chill, Anarky. Plus various ones that appear JLA , bit I'd rather JLA have nothing to do with this.

What I am worried about is what location it could possibly be. I realize there is Gotham City, but it creates problems because it has to be very large. Xbox 360 May have a limit on how much of the city it can hold in memory and keep loading as you move, so I hope they do not divide it into chunks as has been the custom with games like GTA or recent Prototype 2. If they make it seamless they'd have to re-use a lot of buildings and it will appear "cheap"

Chances are the next Batman game will come on the next gen Xbox. It would make a great launch title. A lot of rumors point to a holiday 2013 launch for the next Xbox and given the 2 year time span between AA and AC it'd put the next game launching right before or on time with the next gen if rumors hold true.

I would imagine the sequel would either be called City of Fear, as hinted by the Scarecrow easter egg, or, if they wanted to carry on with the current title style, Arkham World or something along those lines. However, I think there would be some complaints about a lack of originality if the story was to again revolve around the Arkham establishment, so it'll likely be something completely different, like the aforementioned City of Fear.

Presumably Azrael and the Order of St. Dumas will also play a large role in the sequel, what with the warning he gives Batman in the 'Watcher in the Wings' side-mission, and hopefully Hush will be given a fairly chunky role, rather than what was effectively just a cameo in Arkham City. Ra's al Ghul is always a possibility, especially since it wasn't made clear whether he survived or not after the Wonder Tower exploded. Oh, and Azrael mentioned the 'Gates of Hell', which could even suggest Trigon, but it's more likely to have a more metaphorical meaning.

Personally, I'd like to see villains such as Man-Bat and Deathstroke, as well as some who are classically less affiliated with the Batman franchise, such as Metallo, Parasite, or Gorilla Grodd. A character like Black Mask could also have enormous potential, and I was disappointed when he was given such a minor appearance in Arkham City after all the speculation, so I'd definitely like to see him return.

Rocksteady could also try really pushing the boundaries set by the first two games by using extra-terrestrial villains such as Mongul, Darkseid, or General Zod. Of course, you couldn't possibly have someone like Darkseid or Zod without giving them the role of either the primary or secondary antagonist, and the idea could go horribly wrong, but if, as a dramatic twist to parallel Clayface's appearance at the climax of Arkham City, it was revealed that the true mastermind behind whatever plot is cooked up in the third instalment was an enemy from outer space, the 'spectacular' rating could be unprecedented :D

If Bane seemed half as intelligent as he is in the comics, I would want the Knightfall story arc. Not only would we fight numerous villains around Gotham, but have a big final showdown with him at the end.

Whatever the story is, Robin should be involved. Maybe even have the option of co-op (which does not ruin previously single player games for the most part).

I would hope there's no combat challenges/achievements at least. I don't like to waste my time doing that, I prefer advancing the story and getting new surprises.

Lol good luck with that - the chances of a large component being taken out of a sequel? There a LOT in AC, yes, but save Catwoman, none of them are really frustrating or hard. (i.e. you can break your combo 4/5 times in a combat challenge and still get 3/3) Plus, I bet there about at least as many people that enjoy them (like me) as those who don't.

Here is how I would do another game...take a cue from Nolan call it something like The Fall of The Dark Knight.

Set it a couple of years after AC, I'd take the main antagonist straight out of the current books, The Court of Owls. The writers are killing it with that storyline right now, The Court are out to take over Gotham. Publicly, through dummy corporations and the like and through the criminal underworld.

Bats is still in a funk over the Joker's death and kinda phoning it in night after night, all those secondary villains and their gangs are thriving but keeping it low key to try and avoid bringing Batman back full time. Nightwing, Red Robin and Batgirl are picking up the slack with Oracles help but they just aren't the world's greatest detective.

What better way to pull him back into the game than the same thing that took him out, The Joker, multiple sightings of the Joker (with Clayface still locked up tight in AA) send him back onto the streets. For this 'prologue' mission I would pull the villain outta the current books too and make it The Dollmaker impersonating Joker. Have Harley come out of the shadows after beating him and mock him for how much the Joker has effected him and tell him he can't even see what's happening in his precious city, hinting at the new power taking over that will set him on the trail of the Court.

That would set up the main story of tracing and tracking the Court with them coming at him through proxies like Black Mask, Two Face etc and their Talon assassins of course. I would have a branching side story, like Catwoman's, but bigger involving a public attack on Wayne Enterprises that he blows off because of being too focused on the Court and 'his' city. Have that side played through with Red Robin and Batgirl with help from Oracle. IF it were to have co-op I would make it Nightwing, Dick is his oldest alley and after Alfred his closet friend, he would be able to get through to him and convince him he needed help.

I would have the story focus on breaking Batman, removing his ally's off the board. This could be a cool way to introduce some new villains to the series too. Who better to take out Comm Gordon than his serial killer son James. The Red Hood could take out Red Robin, someone who used to be Robin driven to the ultimate act of revenge by Batman being more broken by the death of the Joker, the man who killed him, than his own death. By take out I mean incapacitate not kill.

The Court has always been ran by some of Gothams most powerful families, so as the two story lines come together they realize that someone knows Batman is Bruce Wayne and the only person left alive who knows that just happens to be the last surviving member of one of Gothams most wealthy and powerful families, Tommy Elliot aka Hush. You could even bring back Talia as the mastermind behind the whole thing in revenge for his betraying her in AC, not like she doesn't know what a lazurus pit is.

And then just when you think he can't be broken down anymore 'Hello father...' which in that classic comic book reversal could also be the thing that pulls him back from the brink, with Nightwings help, rescuing his son from the League of Assassins.

Yes I am aware I spent way too much time thinking about this but in my defense I did just work a boring ass 16 hour shift at the hospital :D

That actually sound pretty sweet....but as you already know it wouldnt ever fly for a video game.

As you stated in the other post about the Batman game, casual gamers wouldn't probably get into this because the story would be too involved for a casual gamer to pick it up and understand.

However I do like the aspect of the other friendlies (Robin, Batgirl, etc) taking some of the slack while Batman slums it up.

My favorite title of the 11 that Warner Bros. put out was Batman: Arkham Rises.

I think it should be about how Scarecrow has threatened to release his gas out on Gotham and it's all up to Batman (Batman and Robin should have their own cooperative campaign about how Riddler is going insane and threatens to kill Scarecrow, Bane, Penguin, and Harley Quinn. But worst of all, He threatens to abduct Alfred, which is the only thing that makes Batman and Robin want to bring and end to his schemes for good.) to stop him. However, since Scarecrow has the other villains (Prometheus, Deadshot, Two-Face, and Riddler) under the persuasion of a different gas that he was working on during the events of Arkham City. Despite the new gas, Riddler is smart enough to break free, and is now on the loose hiding Riddler Trophies and taking hostages. The other villains aren't nearly as smart as Riddler, so they don't break free and remain under Scarecrow's custody. Scarecrow has them each take their own gangs to assist them in planting the gas canisters. Batman makes a shocking discovery to see Alfred taken hostage by Prometheus, which causes Batman to get emotional after rescuing him. After this, he goes to the Scarecrow's lair, but he finds it locked up and needs an explosive to take it down. He tries to use explosive gel, but it isn't strong enough. He then overhears some of Joker's former thugs talking about how they saw Deadshot ready to blow up Wayne manor. This triggers a race to get to Wayne Manor before it gets blown sky high. When he arrives, he spots a C4 explosive on the front door. This forces him to track down Deadshot and get the remote control from him. After a boss battle, Batman obtains the control and takes the C4 off the door. He then takes it back to Scarecrow's lair and blows up the door, allowing him in to it. When he arrives, he discovers that Scarecrow thought ahead and released the gas in the building. He overhears Scarecrow saying that he gave a mask to Two-Face, but then shot him in the head shortly afterward. Batman tracks down Two-Face's corpse, and finds the mask. Now he is ready to confront Scarecrow, after a few round of fighting, Scarecrow blows up the floor beneath him and reveals a pit of fire. Batman saves himself and grapples up. He forces Scarecrow down anti the remnants of the floor. He then realizes that Scarecrow has an explosive set up on the wall next to him. When he blows it up, the player is given a choice to either rescue Scarecrow or let him kill himself in the explosion. If the player chose to rescue him, then the last cutscene depicts Batman throwing Scarecrow into Arkham Asylum and knocks him out with a single punch to the head. If the player chooses to let Scarecrow die, then the last cutscene depicts Batman showing up to his body, and throws it down in the fire to cremate him. After this, the credits roll, but the player is still able to free roam. Not only that, but he has challenges to complete, just like in the previous games.
