Does anyone know if there's a cheap way to do it? Because I've only hacked 13 Terminals.

"Data Miner" and "Vault Tec C.E.O" are the last two Achievements I need.
Sure there's a "cheap" way to do it, you just try to guess until you only have one guess left and back out of the terminal. Then go back in and you've got a fresh slate.

Hey, thanks a lot for the guide man. This helped immensely with my 1000. It probably would have taken me days, weeks longer to get without knowing where to look. So yeah great work man.

For a terminal with the rating Very Easy you need a skill level of at least 15.

Thanks for this. Just like to add there is a couple in the National Guard Depot which deactivate the turrets. can't tell you how many for sure but I know it's worth going there(there's a Bobblehead is in this location too).

When you say brackets I assume you mean just ( ) since thats all you used to identify them with, but you can also get rid of duds if they are in [ ], { }, or < >. Just wanted to clarify that, some people may not know that those are the other bracket types to look for.

Here's a way if you want to do the Terminal Hacks but you can't be bothered with trying to work out which is the correct password. (I can do the puzzles, it's just sometimes I get eye strain from extreme numbers in gaming hours that I'm left with "Pot luck" rather than comparison)

Basically you have 4 attempts per terminal, fail the 4th and you end up locked out. So all you do is pick the first word for attempt one, then the second, then the third (By all means compare them if you want to move on further). Don't use the forth attempt up, just log out (exit the terminal) then log back in and start again, pick the first word, second then third.

Eventually the password will be "Bruteforced" by the game assigning it randomly to one of the first words. A real no brainer for those that might have over-juiced on the alcopop's.

This does work, but honestly if you actually read the guide you should be able to hack terminals 10x's faster than using this strategy, depending on your science skill.

I found three in the Brotherhood of Steel Citadel. Down in B RING (go through A RING).
There's a VERY HARD in the doctors office.
An EASY in the kids room (can't remember his name.
And another VERY HARD in Elder Lyons room.

None of them give bad karma.

First of all mucho thanks for this guide - sorted the cheevo out for me

The terminal in Chengs room was not a locked terminal for me; not sure if this is random or what?

Plus there are three Average terminals in National Guard Depot BUT they're not the easiest to get to and best got when going for the bobblehead there (damn that building is a pain to get around.

thanks again for this

Sadly the computer in Cheng's Penthouse Suite does not count as a 'hack-able' computer to add to the 50 needed for the achievement. I noticed it was marked as (Unknown) in your guide and I guess that's because there's no option to hack it.

Regardless, wonderful guide, thanks for all the work you put into it.

Speech Challenges/Computer Terminals

Anyone know where I can find about ten of each, preferably places that aren't near the places you need to goto to do most of the achievements and main quest as I imagine i've hacked most of the computers and won most of the speech challenges in these places already.

Isn't there a dude in Big Town who has 100% speech success rate for a said phrase, and will let you choose the option over and over again? I may take advantage of that, but i'm stumped as to where to find computers?

Sorry if this has been posted already!

Check out "Data Miner Guide" stickied at the top of this forum for the terminals. As for the speech challenges, you can use the glitch as you talked about. It's available in the Tricks and Glitches thread. I can confirm the glitch works for the speech achievement because I used it earlier today.

Added.

And Cheng's terminal is removed from the list. Probably was added on cause I wasn't sure if I had hacked it earlier or not.
