Halo Wars Mission Guide
This is just a guide for completing the missions, not a guide for Legendary, Par Times, Gold Medals, Skulls, Secondary Objectives or Black Boxes.
01 - ALPHA BASE
You begin with just Sergeant Forge, continue forwards following the objective arrows until you get to some allies under attack, defeat the enemy and you will gain control of the allies. Continue forwards and you will see a few grunts on the way. Keep going until once again you will find allies under attack, save them to gain control more units. Next you will find units under attack near a purple gate, save the units to gain control of the allies. Now the only way to destroy the gate is to send your foot soldiers in and destroy the switch just inside. Send all your units inside and begin attacking the units. You can ignore the Wraiths as a Carpet Bomb sent in my your allies will destroy them. Simply destroy all the units to complete the mission.
02 - RELIC APPROACH
This mission can be a little tricky if you're on a higher difficulty. You will be given a small tutorial at the beginning to get the basics of your base set up, you will build a base, Supply pad, barracks and five units. While this is happening, take Forge around the base to collect supplies. Once you have finished making the five units, build another two supply pads in your base to start increasing your revenue significantly. When you have enough, start building as many marines as possible. Keep going until you have filled up your full population count, and when you have head out the base to the north. Destroy the units in front of you to continue. You now come to a fork in the road, north east and west. If you want the safe and quickest route, go east and north behind the small raised sections of land, this will help you avoid an enemy base which is quite heavily fortified with powerful units. On your way north after going east you will come across Jackal sniper towers, destroy these with the Marine’s grenades with simplicity. Now head north and you will come across another purple gate like in mission 1, destroy it the same way to get into the relic base. Simply ignore all units and aim at the Detonator, once destroyed you will have completed the mission. You can ignore the units on a low difficulty as they can withstand the enemy at this point. Mission Complete.
03 – RELIC INTERIOR
This mission will give you your first real taster of the Grizzlys! Powerful UNSC tanks. At the start of the mission go straight ahead into the building, when you go forward you will encounter grunts and Hunters, these will damage your vehicles quite a considerable amount so when you get near them press Y to use the Grizzly’s second ability. After clearing these units head west towards the bridge, ignore the units next to it and cross – they wont follow you. Across to the other side destroy all turrets before progressing to kill the hunters attacking your allies. When they’ve been defeated you will gain control of Forge and Anders. Anders has a special ability to repair the Grizzlys, so if you’ve taken any damage, select her and use her special on the tanks. Now you must head back over to the bridge to escape the Interior, killing all units on the way. Hurray, the brid- OH NO what’s that!? A stupid Covenant grunt will throw a bomb to the bridge controls destroying the bridge... and himself. Okay so we’ve been compromised, time to turn around and head to the other bridge. When you get there select Anders and target the bridge controls. A 1 minute countdown will begin, in this time you will need to protect her, this is very easy to do, just position every other unit you have slightly north and they will kill anything that comes through the doors. After the minute countdown has finished counting down, you can now cross the bridge, hooray! Cross the bridge and destroy everything near, the Grizzlys should take everything out without even a slight problem, including the Wraith. When you turn the final corner towards the exit, plenty of hunters will appear and try to compromise the mission. Destroy the first three you see to continue. Once done, select Anders and Forge and target the Landing Zone outside the base, they will make it through easily and once they do, mission complete.
04 – ARCADIA CITY
Might I just say, I hate this mission.
Right to begin, destroy all units with your very small army that are murdering the civilians. Once they’ve gone down (rather easily may I add), send all units over to Cargo Ship 1, apart from one Hornet. Keep the Hornet at the grassy area where your mission starts, you will soon see why. Shortly the ships will begin to get attacked while the civilians try to escape. May I just state that this mission’s requirements are not to evacuate X number of people, but to just keep at least one ship in-tact during the twenty minute countdown. Ignore Ship 3’s cries for help as they’re going to die either way. Keep defending Ship 1 until Ship 3 gets destroyed, if at any point Ship 2 is under attack, defeat the units and return to your positions in front of Ship 1. If Ship 1 gets damaged, use your healing leader powers on it, but for now be very sparing. When Ship 3 does get destroyed you will be prompted to build a base, by this point you might be wondering why there’s one Hornet sitting alone in some random grass, oh yeah that’s why, the base will get built there. So build a base, and when constructed immediately build a barracks and one supply pad. Build 5 marines and another supply pad. Maximise your marines but keep them at the base for now. When you have 5 marines, send the Hornet to defend Ship 1. If Ship 1 gets destroyed then defend Ship 2. No units should attack Ship 2 if Ship 1 is in-tact because Ship 1 is in between the enemy’s base and Ship 2. Soon enough you should have maximized your population of Marines, if so, yay! Send them all to Ship 1 to defend. As always if either ship gets damaged, use the healing powers. You should have about ten minutes of the mission left. Keep defending the ships until the time runs out and you should have no problems.

05 – ARCADIA OUTSKIRTS
As soon as the mission begins select all units, get to the white square on your map and go as fast as you can. A giant swarm of Covenant units are chasing you and the objective here is to run away. Soon enough you will be compromised as units are in front of you. Oh shit! They’re easy to kill so make light work of them, the units behind have stopped chasing you too, so you can now breathe. Destroy the units in front of you and head to the area with the base, at this point there will be more units, simply clear them out to begin reconstruction. NOTE: During the course of the mission, Pelicans will be coming in to deliver reinforcements to you, do not worry about these getting shot down because they won’t, even on legendary.
Begin building your base, for this mission I’d recommend air units as the Covenant like to train their hunters and Wraiths in mass amounts. If you have marines left, garrison those in the downed Pelican in front of you to give slight defence to your base, with Forge, collect the Supply boxes. When your base is build, first create a Supply pad, Supply Pad, Reactor, Upgrade Base, Reactor, Air Pad, Upgrade, Supply, Supply Pad. During this time creating and upgrading the Hornets as much as possible. As usual try to fill your Population Cap with them. You must be fast in creating them too as Covenant will come attacking in the plenty. When you’ve filled your cap, you should have quite a powerful army (including the reinforcements you get). Go towards the area you started from and some Spartan units will drop down from the sky to help you, three of them to be exact, hooray! Take all your units and wipe out any Covenant on your way to where the mission began. Ignore the giant laser to the left, it’s not even important. When you get to the base, unleash hell. Once hell has been unleashed, get the kettle on, mission complete.
06 – DOME OF LIGHT
Ahh, the Covenant have built themselves a giant dome...... right.
Anyway let’s get started, you will begin with the usuals (Forge), a basic base and a pad to summon Rhino tanks. Get cracking with the base, Supply, Reactor, Reactor, Upgrade Base, Vehicle Pad, Supply, Upgrade Supply Supply. When you can, start building Wolverine units, they will be your secret weapon, you need to build three per location of Rhino tanks. So just build three to begin with. Also, upgrade your base with turrets to attack air craft. Request a Rhino and with your first three Wolverines, move them into position one.
Unfortunately Position 2 may cause a slight problem, there’s a Covenant infantry base right where the next Rhino needs to go. Probelm? Ha! Build some Scorpions with your vehicle pad and take them to destroy the base, about three should do. Once done get three more Wolverines and take them with a Rhino to there.
Location three is on an area that’s not accessible by ground units it would seem. Once you’ve built your three Wolverines, send them over there using your Pelican special ability. Then send a Rhino tank right behind with a pelican. 3, 2, 1, FIRE. Poop. So now you need two more. *Sigh*. Each of the two new locations will again have bases, send your Scorpions to clear the area before sending Rhinos over with Wolverines again. Once the fourth and fifth are in place, they fire again. And as predicted the dome will be destroyed. Now you suddenly have control of 40, YES 40, Mac Blast shots, just destroy everything you can see with them to complete the mission.
07 - Scarab
As this is NOT a legendary walkthrough, this is the easiest mission in the game. Don’t move your units and just begin making supply pads at your base. All you need to do is Mac Blast the Scarab to do quite a hefty amount of damage. Repeat four or five times and when it’s defeated, mission complete.
If you’re playing this on Legendary, the Mac Blast wont hurt the scarab, so good luck!
08 – ANDERS’ Signal
Anders has been kidnapped! Oh no. You start with an Elephant Forge and Spartans. Set your Elephant down with its Y ability and do the good old trick of maxing your population out with marines. Take note of where the Elephants from Alpha and Beta are as you will need to rescue them. Once you’ve maxed out, head to the most northern one. The first area you reach will have Covenant brutes, so cute and so vulnerable to your deadly abilities. Shame. Soon enough the Elephants of Alpha and Beta will disappear, and as always you’ve got to help them out. Head in the direction you were going and you will get a base built for you thanks to Serena. Once built, add turrets and supply pads if you need them. The turrets are important though. Keep heading towards their first one killing any of the flood you find along the way. If you see any eggs, don’t destroy them as there’s a possibility they could release more enemy units, and we don’t want to compromise this mission. Keep heading forwards towards it, and you will soon come across what seem to be turrets of the enemy’s, they are extremely powerful so make sure you take them out as soon as possible. When you come across the Elephant, it will be trapped by some swinging arms and eggs. Destroy all the eggs and the arms but be careful of the arms, they will kill any marine in what hit if they get too close. Once all are destroyed you will take control of the Elephant, immediately send it down to your base, at this point you should send the Elephant you started with to the base to. Now head towards the other kidnapped Elephant, again killing all flood, avoiding the eggs and being careful of the turrets. When you find it, it will be in exactly the same situation as the previous one. Take them all out to free it. Select all units and select your base. When they’ve all reached it will be mission completed. Good work soldier.

09 - THE FLOOD
Main objective is to reinforce Red Team. I found this mission very quick and easy on easy difficulty.
First things first is to build up your base, let's go with Supply Supply Reactor Barracks Supply. While they're under construction send Forge straight to the star on your mini map, don't worry about the enemies, because it's on easy you'll have no problem getting there, besides you'll only come across about 4-5 of the small infection forms, and with Forge they are no problem. When you reach the star you will be given a present in the form of 3 Spartans. That's all the army you need.
Now apparantly this huge food is blocking Anders' signal, and we must destroy it.
If you send the spartens and Forge directly towards it you will come across a flood base, simply select them all to destroy it. Make sure to make use of Forge's second shotgun attack, it's very powerful. Also if you have the resources, send a carpet bomb on the boss creature. Destroying the base will hurt the boss a little, and you will be given a secondary objective of destroying all their bases. Ignore this objective. As you get very close to the creature, just north of the base you will encounter the flying flood enemies, they will be a problem so take them out. As you go further forward you will encounter plenty of roots and two turrets, take the turrets out first as they hurt the most, then just take out the roots near you before unleashing hell on the boss. It will go down in no time at all. Spartans are very powerful. The moment it goes down the mission will be complete. Very easy.
10 - SHIELD WORLD
Omg time limit of 17 minutes! Really doesn't seem like that long.
Straight away get the base going. Supply supply reactor reactor in that order.
When they've finished get a vehicle pad on the go, we have a secret weapon to take down those flying flood. And believe me this weapon is deadly. While the buildings are being built, send the troops you have to the southern most red circle so they can do some damage but free up some population space. Once all those buildings have finished building, which will take a few minutes, now once they've all been built, spam your population with WOLVERINES! They are UBER against flying enemies. And these will do very well. Once you destroy them the mission is complete.
11 - CLEANSING
This level can be a bit tricky really.
First thing to do is find every turret spot and built a turret on them. Basically you need to go around the ship and destroy everything you see. The easiest way to do this is by creating plenty of hornets as they can reach the enemies on the side of the ship. Eventually a large blue cleansing shield will scan across the ship, this will damage all your turrets but it will also destroy whatever you've defeated. Basically the spawning things will regenerate unless they are dead when the shield wipes across the ship. When all flood are defeated you will have got mission complete.
12 - REPAIRS
This level is so easy on easy mode. Basically you need to repair the core.
Move all units to the core and get all your cyclops' onto the core so they begin repairing. Spawn as many cyclops as you possibly can to speed up the process, also use your healing powers for 350 REC. to get this mission over quickly. Covenant will come, but your Spartans should be able to handle those no problem. On legendary it's a different story though. When the power core is at 100% health you will have completed this mission.

13 - BEACHHEAD
We've got Anders' back, Yay! Wait, did anybody care? No didn't think so.
Anyway we need to help her escape. Personally I'd say let her die but then you get mission failed so that's no good.
Right go forward and you will watch the pelican die, oh dear. Go down and you will see a teleporter, go through it and you will be given an objective to protect an area while a countdown begins. Once it's finished Anders' will be rescued, thank God. Now continue going East to find a base pad, let's get cracking as usual.
Right there's a very easy way to finish the level quickly. Go supply supply reactor reactor air pad. Once finished get 3 Hornets and send them north. A cut scene will appear with an abandoned Scarab. You need to destroy the roots around it to free it. Now get a Spartan of yours to jack it, simply select the Spartan and tell it to jack. It will run right past a Covenant base without any trouble and take the Scarab. Now you get to have some real fun. Select all units and go and destroy the base you just passed, oh the destructive fun of the Scarab. So your main objective is to capture and hold 4 bases. Well now we have two , let's continue. Travel back to where you took the Scarab and go dead north. There's base number three, take it down in the same way.
Now before progressing fill your population count with more Hornets, as the last base has a Scarab of their own and it will hurt a lot.
Go north up the slight hill and you will find a teleporter. Make sure all units get through there. Just one more base left to go and with a Scarab on your side you'll have no problems. I'm shocked the Scarab can fit in that teleporter. Anyway on the other end are turrets, take them out quickly. When they're down head to the west. After a very short journey you will come across the Scarab on the hill and the base at the bottom. Set everything on the Scarab and then the west of their units. Destroy the base to complete the mission.
14 - REACTOR
This was my favourite mission, I just found it very fun, it can be difficult though. Your main objective is to get that huge reactor to the top of those huge hills. To do this, make an Elephant and attach it to the reactor. Now go Supply Supply Reactor Reactor Air Pad. Fill up your population with Hornets and take all units forward, there will be a Covenant base there, take it out without trouble. Build whatever you've lost and continue, at the top of this next hill will be a sniper tower and some flood. Easy times. Next hill will have another base. This one will have wraiths and turrets so take those out quickly. Destroy the base and then select all units but the heavy loading Elephant. Go forward with these and destroy the last base on the very top of the hill, afterwards drag the Elephant to the objective area at the top of this hell. Mission complete.
15 - ESCAPE
Epic and brilliant cut scene, I loved that cut scene
Anyway, you'll be situated on a giant dome, there's flood fighting Covenant, Covenant fighting flood, and both of them wanting to eat you for dinner. Main objective here is to open the doors. Right the way I did this was build plenty of Hornets, set the base up as stated plenty of times above and as always max out your Pop Count. Follow the arrow to the first door, kill all enemies near it and open the door. You can only open the door when it's clear. Follow the arrow to the next door. Be warned there are two Scarabs on this level, try and avoid them. Once you've opened the next door (2/6), choose any door you like and clear it and open it. Then an arrow will tell you it's corrisponding door to open. Get that one done, and repeat. When all 6 doors are open you will get Mission Complete.
Congratulations, you just finished Halo Wars. Watch the ending and enjoy.
Now go do it on Legendary.

haha, hmm i take that Halo Wars King back, nah, your good, you make the guides to make our miserable lives much easier i just completed the Rhino level on Legendary with someone, it was a challange :P BTW what do you mean with ''Good Skulls'' ? do you mean the ones where your score is decreased and your personal units get better and such ?

Once I've done legendary, I'll go back on easy and get all the gold medals, skulls, black boxes and secondary objectives. Still, I'm thinking it would have been easier to get all the skulls first, then activate the buff ones and then do legendary... ah well, like I said, 3 more and I'm done!

Mission 5 - I've done all the objectives and destroyed the enemy base but the mission will not end. I have no enemies left at all and am stuck. What does "get the kettle on" mean?
EDIT: I saved and quit, then reloaded mission and immediately received the Mission Complete message. Boo glitches.
