Even though Tooie is the better game when it comes to moves, levels, depth, etc. Its better to start off with Kazooie because Tooie builds off of the gameplay and story of Kazooie.

I think the first is a lot more enjoyable.

Tooie is bigger, yes, but bigger doesn't always equal better. I liked the sense of completion in the first one... 100 notes, 10 jiggies, 5 Jinjos, 2 honey combs, every level.

Tooie, the levels are too large and convoluted... Too much backtracking and just feeling like you're accomplishing little. I'll 200/200 it eventually, but ugh.

I agree the levels on Tooie are rather big, bit too big and the backtracking is annoying as.
I just enjoy the variety in their puzzles

They're both amazing and in terms of review scores Tooie scored better and I liked it better, but you should play Kazooie first and play it none the less as it is a classic and amazing game.

Tooie is far superior to Kazooie, but Kazooie is better than Tooie.

Play Kazooie then buy Tooie after you complete it since Tooie assumes you know all the old moves plus all the characters.

Tooie... Not so good. Ofcourse, it's a good and enjoyable game. But it's unnecceserly complex, which, to me, ruins it.

But you should get both and play them in order.
I would say this is a bit harsh I don't like the complexity either but I still don't think the game is ruined. The complexity sure makes it hard though. I think that playing Tooie before Kazooie would make it excruciatingly difficult. Get Kazooie simpler, funner.

Kazooie all the way. It was simple and fun. Tooie was complicated and unnecessary. I constantly got lost in Tooie because the maps were way too big. Although, there are some parts where Tooie is better.

I love them both, but I picked Kazooie since I like more of the levels in that game than the second one.

I see a lot of people felt the same way I did. As much as I still enjoy Tooie and it is a bargain of a game on the marketplace, Kazooie is the better game in my opinion. I expect a little challenge in games but Tooie became overwhelming and frustrating at times with the size of the levels and the amount of backtracking. There were times I would check a guide and still not remember exactly which area they were referring to.

I had both for the N64 and have tooie for the XBLA. It's not that tooie is better than kazooie but it was on sale and also i belive that it had more content than the first one.

I'd get Tooie. It will keep you occupied longer and I found the levels to be more fun and the jiggies to be more challenging to obtain.

However, if you're going to get both, play Kazooie first and then Tooie.

I first played Tooie (on N64) and something was missing. Still, if think Tooie is much more fun (and funny) than Kazooie.

Tooie is much more difficult than Kazooie. More areas, more abilities, more gameplay, more fun. If it's going to be your first Banjo game though, get Kazooie, then get Tooie.

In the N64 days I had rented Banjo-Kazooie when I was really young, so I didn't get far. Then my dad bought me Banjo-Tooie for my birthday, and not realizing it was the sequel I played it and got to around Grunty Industries, then skipped Hailfire Peaks and went straight to Cloud Cuckooland.

I absolutely loved it.

Fast forward to when ever Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie came out on the XBLA, I've beaten them both, and 100%'d BK, and all I can say is Banjo-Kazooie is much more approachable and enjoyable on the short-term.

If you put in the time and frustration, Banjo-Tooie can be a much more rewarding (and longer) experience.

They're both amazing games, but I'd have to say that the original is sort of bland next to the sequel. I'd recommend getting both and playing in order, but I'd have to say Tooie was the better one for me.

I felt Tooie had too much backtracking. You were forced to go into a new level to learn a new move just to get jiggies in the world you came from. Banjo Kazooie didn't do that very often. I was able to get all ten on most worlds without backtracking (Snow race with the polar bear as Banjo requires learning the fast shoes, comes to mind). I often got confused with Tooie, so I had to resort to using a guide for a lot of jiggies. I still love them both, but Kazooie is more friendly and playable. You don't really need to use a guide as everything comes naturally.
