Achievement Guide and Road Map

Overview:
- Estimated achievement difficulty: 6/10
- Offline achievements: 49 (1000)
- Online achievements: 0
- Approximate time for 1000: 10 - 20 hours
- Minimum number of playthroughs required for completion: 1
- Number of missable achievements: 2
- Glitched achievements:
No
- Do cheat codes disable achievements: No cheat codes available
- Does difficulty affect achievements: Yes

Introduction:
Welcome to the Bionic Commando Road Map and Achievement Guide. This game can be completed in one playthrough but I recommend you split it into two. Playing on Normal first will make gathering all the collectibles and completing all of the challenges much easier and less frustrating.

For the most part this game is easy and straight forward. However whenever you die you will need to re-complete any challenges or recollect any collectibles you picked up since the last checkpoint. This means its very easy to miss "The Collector" and "Bionically Challenged" achievements.

The game is also structured in such a way that after you complete a level you will never go back, this means that any collectibles missed in the area are missed permanently. There is a replay option but it does NOT allow you to pickup collectibles or complete challenges to work towards "Bionically Challenged". So if you miss ANY collectible you will not be able to go back and you will not be able to unlock "The Collector" achievement.

Step #1 - Normal Playthrough:
You will be unlocking all but two achievements on this playthrough, make sure to follow the Collectible Guide (LINK) to find all 150 collectibles and unlock "The Collector" achievement.

You may also want to refer to the Challenge Guide (LINK) all of the challenges in the game are listed here. Many of the challenges are simply and many others are included in the Achievement Guide. However there are some difficult challenges that are not, details of which can be found in the Challenge Guide.

Step #2 - Commando Playthrough:
You should now have all of the games achievements except "I Got Hard" and "I Went Commando" which you will be unlocking on this playthrough. A list of tips for playing on this difficulty can be found here (LINK).

Note: If you missed any of the collectibles or challenges on your normal playthrough, or you decide to only have one playthrough on this difficulty then you can unlock all the achievements during this playthrough.

Conclusion:
Overall this is simply game to get score out of. Unfortunately due to the save system, if you have missed even one challenge or Collectible will have missed "The Collector" and/or "Bionically Challenged" achievements. Your only option at this point is to start another playthrough.

Bionic Commando - Achievement Guide

The River - 10
Complete "The River" challenge

This challenge will start after you complete "The Turn" challenge, and requires you to kill 5 Grunts with one grenade.

As with “The Turn” challenge, attempt this whenever you see a large group of 5 or more enemies.

A good spot to attempt this is at the start of the "Trent Industrial District Two" level.

After remembering how to use the Punch Up ability you will go down a long hallway, at the end there around 7 or 8 enemies. Try swinging towards that area quickly with grenades equipped and your likely to catch most if not all of them with a grenade.

Complete "Air to Surface" challenge

This challenge will start after you complete the "Man Locked Up" challenge, and requires you to kill 6 enemies using the Tarantula whilst swinging.

As with the "Drive-by" challenge/achievement you do NOT have to kill all six enemies during the same swing, or with one shot, just over time.

Whenever you have the Tarantula and encounter a group of enemies, grab onto something start swinging lock on to the enemy and kill them, do this a total of six times to complete this challenge.

Drive-by - 20
Complete "Drive-by" challenge

This challenge will start after you complete the "Two Hit Wonder" challenge, and requires you to kill 3 Grunts using the Hiker whilst swinging.

This is a lot easier than it sounds. You need to equip the hiker and whilst swinging kill three Grunts. This is cumulative so you do NOT have to kill all three Grunts during the same swing, or with one shot, just over time.

Pull! - 15
Complete "Pull!" challenge

This challenge will start after you complete the "The Pinball Effect" challenge, and requires you to kill an airborne enemy with a thrown object.

This challenge will start automatically on the nineteenth level "Fissure - Three" and requires you to destroy a Biomech using an Adrenaline Finishing skill.

Complete "Crowd Control" challenge

This challenge will start after you complete the "Lash Out" challenge, and requires you to kill 6 Grunts with one Whip Spin.

See the "Whip 'Em Good" achievement for information on using the Whip Spin.

A good spot to get this is on the Ascension City Park Two level, at the start of the level drop down into the long hallway, there will be a large group of Grunts here. Continue down the hallway until you meet a second group of Grunts now head back up to the first room that you dropped from. Allow the soldiers to gather below you then jump down and use your Whip Spin.

Note: Do NOT go too far down the hallway or you will hit a checkpoint, if you then die the game will load but the enemies will be gone.

Shoot 'Em Up! - 15
Complete "Shoot 'Em Up!" challenge

This challenge will start after you complete "Down to Earth" challenge, and requires you to kill 15 Grunts by Kiting them and killing them whilst they are in the air.

To do this find a Grunt attach to him with the , press to Kite him, then use to kill him with your equipped weapon.

The Pitcher - 25
Complete "The Pitcher" challenge

This challenge will start after you complete the "The Pinball Effect" challenge, and requires you to kill 50 enemies with thrown objects.

Find an enemy in an area with movable objects on the ground. Attach yourself to one of the objects with the , press to Kite it, and then press to throw it at an enemy. Do this a total of 50 times to complete the challenge.

Shellshock - 25
Complete "Shellshock" challenge

This challenge will start after you complete the "Barrage" challenge, and requires you to kill 5 Grunts with one Death From Above.

To do this you will need to be on a high ledge or hanging from a high ceiling above five or more Grunts. Jump from the ledge/ceiling and tap the button repeatedly to kill or injure the Grunts below, repeat this until you've killed five Grunts with one Death From Above.

This post describes a good location to attempt this challenge (LINK).

Note: Late in the game you will get the ability to use adrenaline to increase the power of certain skills, Death From Above is one of these skills. By tapping and repeatedly you will perform a more powerful Death From Above. This will help if you are having trouble killing enough Grunts to complete this challenge.

Headshot Bonanza - 25
Complete "Headshot Bonanza" challenge

This challenge will start after you complete the "Slayer" challenge, and requires you to kill 50 Grunts with head shots.

You should always attempt to head shot enemies when using your Tungsten hand gun as you will kill the enemy in one hit, saving ammo. It is easier to get a head shot whilst zoomed in using the . There are more than enough enemies to do this against and you should get this early on in the game.

Poly Cruncher - 25
Complete "Poly Cruncher" challenge

This challenge will start after you complete the "Anti Air Measures!" challenge, and requires you to destroy 10 Polycraft.

An effective way of destroying a Polycraft is to have it follow you near to a point that you can swing from. Then swing at the Polycraft attach to it with the and then press to Zip Kick, often you can immediately attach again and Zip Kick until the Polycraft is destroyed. If not just find another point to swing from.

You can also use weapons like the Hiker, Tarantula, Bulldog, and SJMG if they are available to destroy Polycraft.

Nemesis - 25
Complete "Nemesis" challenge

This challenge will start after you complete the "Slayer" challenge, and requires you to kill 350 Grunts.

As with the “Blood Trail” and “Slayer” challenges you can kill Grunts in any way you like to count towards this challenge. There are more than enough Grunts to reach 350, but I would suggest killing everyone you come across to be on the safe side.

Biomech Sweeper - 25
Complete "Biomech Sweeper" challenge

This challenge will start after you complete "The Cracker" challenge, and requires you to defeat 15 Biomechs.

An easy way to destroy a Biomech is to use a Death From Above attack, then get behind the Biomech attach to the target on its back with , then Press , and then again to Zip Kick, you should be able to kick it once or twice before the Biomech gets back up.

You can also use weapons like the Hiker, Tarantula, Bulldog, SJMG, and grenades if they are available to destroy Biomechs.

The "Worthy Foe" challenge/achievement requires you to kill three Biomechs in hand-to-hand combat, so for the first three you fight make sure to finish them off with Zip Kicks.

Whip 'Em Good - 25
Complete "Whip 'Em Good" challenge

This challenge will start after you complete the "Crowd Control" challenge, and requires you to kill 50 Grunts using your Whip Spin skill.

To use your Whip Spin you will need full Adrenaline. Press and to use the Whip Spin when Grunts are nearby.

Bionic Commando - Achievement Guide

Out of the Bush - 30
Complete "Out of the Bush" challenge

You will fight the Buraq helicopter at the end of the "The Buraq, Pre-Fight" level.

To destroy the Buraq pick up the Tarantula Missile Launcher that will be dropped for you, and climb to the top of the large central tower. Wait for the Buraq to stop firing then peak out zoom in, lock onto it and fire. Repeat this two or three times and the Buraq will be destroyed.

Polycraft will also attack during this fight; you can destroy them using the Tarantula as well. You will need to destroy them before continuing the fight with the Buraq helicopter.

Can you dig it? - 40
Complete "Can you dig it?" challenge

You will fight the Mohole at the end of the "Mohole" level.

To defeat the Mohole you will need to wait for it to open the panels around its “eye”. It does this when it is about to attack. Once it opens use either the Bulldog or the SJMG to damage its eye (the SJMG does more damage). You can also throw the cars found all over this area at the Mohole but they are less reliable than your weapons.

Sometimes after you damage the Mohole it will fall over and start to regenerate its health. When this happens run over to it (shooting as you go) and attach to its eye. It will fling you up into the air. Press the and the buttons repeatedly to do a powerful Death From Above attack on the Mohole. Repeat this until the Mohole is defeated.

Note: Try to stay on the raised platform at the back of this area whenever you are not running at the Mohole or retrieving a weapon. Doing this you will mean you will avoid its most deadly attack (a series of shockwaves it fires into the ground) without having to do anything.

The Collector - 50
Find all collectibles in the game.

You need to collect all 150 collectibles in the game in one playthrough to unlock this achievement. There is NO way to go back for any collectibles if you miss them and pass through the checkpoint to the next level you will not be able to unlock the achievement.

A full list of the collectibles in the game can be found here (LINK).

Bionically Challenged - 50
Complete all challenges in the game.

To unlock this achievement you need to complete ALL of the challenges in the game, in one playthrough. The only challenges you do not need to complete for this achievement are the collectible challenges. This achievement can be unlocked on any of the three difficulties.

Many of the challenges are tied to achievements, but there are also a large number of challenges that must be completed for this achievement that are not tied to the achievements.

All of these challenges as well as the achievement related challenges are listed in this thread (LINK).

This achievement will unlock once the end credits start to roll.

End Game - 50
Complete the final mission

This achievement will unlock once you finish the final level "The Vault". The achievement will unlock on any of the three difficulties.

To be honest, this isnt really helpfull, you should give some help on the last level with the vultures and stuff, Its a really really AHRD level if its on that diff

I'm sorry you feel that way but this is an Achievement Guide not a walkthrough. If there was an achievement for that level there would be a guide for completing it.

Spoilers:

Although personally I found the last level to be very easy, theres a ton of weapons at the start to get though all the enemies, then the final part with the Vultures you just push the stick in the direction on screen and hammer the B button.

Thanks for the guide. I really like the guides with the road maps with time and difficulty included. All guides should be required to include this.

you kinda amswered this Q under the bionically challenged ach.... but just to clarify and reassure if i get all the collectibles in one playthrough and do all the challenges in a separate playthrough the bionically challenged ach will still unlock???? in other words has someone confirmed that you can skip the collectible challenges and still unlock the bionically challenged ach??? just wondering becuz im not sure if ill be able to complete all challenges while im doing the collectibles but i wouldnt mind playing thru it again to beat the challenges but getting these collectibles are a pain in the ass!!!!

Edit: nevermind i got em both in 1 playthrough but i assume you dont need collectible challenges
