For informaton.

I have just completed the master challenge 4% item completed, which will also unlock the 13% item completed achievement.

Added:
for 4% (or 13%) items to complete thew game with maximum 200 life point only, I believe we can only pass the "exploding room" at casual difficulty.

Maybe because it's late at night here, but for the life of me I can't fathom how to get to the "exploding room" scene without either the grapping hook or triple jump powerups, but obviously some people have done it -- where am I going wrong?

I just can't find a way up to the entry point without them Overhanging ledges are preventing me getting there from all three routes that I can see to that scene.

I've just come from the scene where you encounter the two tarantulas on your way out and can burn them both with a grenade into the exhaust vent. Been jumping and clambering around pointlessly ever since.

I believe you can still get the claw and have around 11-12%. That's what I'm doing.

Edit: 500th post! =)

Cheers, I ended up doing that in the end, but I still can't work out what route people are taking to get to the end of the game without the hook or triple jump. It is gone 3am though, maybe it'll be more obvious at a more sensible hour

Have you got the unlimited foam pack?

I just "foamed" everywhere...

Nope, this was my 2nd playthrough after playing through the game normally (ie. not even looking at what the achievements were beforehand, just following the plot and picking up powerups as I went along but not going too much out of my way for any) so I didn't have any bonuses apart from starting with all the map unlocked for having reached level 20 in my normal playthrough.

Yeah if I remember correctly I used the unlimited foam (from reaching level 30) to make the minimalist run a breeze.

Is it bad to pick up the hookshot? Because I heard later on you'll need it.

I skipped picking up the pistol since I had gold guns, had to pick up the first machine gun to progress the story and unlock some doors, but my question is when do the blue lines start to show up? I don't recall? I assume once those show up it'll be smooth sailing.

I'm also only lvl 20 right now so no unlimited foam (wah), do you think I should run this on casual or will i be fine on hardcore (what i'm using now)?

Do it on casual. It's easier.

yea, i figured i'd get more XP on hardcore, maybe i'll run through it quickly for the achievement and then play through again on insane real slow like.

Thanks. What about the blue lines? Do those disappear on hardcore, or is it only insane? Anyone know?

Just as Audio Reply wrote above: "Try taking a big run from the room on the right, then double jump the gap."

Don't try to use the Friction Dampener, just run from the platform in the room on the right. The character will accelerate a bit after a second or two and you WILL be able to double-jump to the far side. Be sure to visit the "exclamation mark" below to close the huge bridge before. Also, you don't have to fight the Tarantula tanks, just run to the right and climb the ladder (you can boost up by pressing X).

Thanks for the thread! Achievement unlocked.

Okay, can someone actually explain how the hell to get to the exploding room/place where you lower the bridge to advance without the hook or triple jump? This thread is full of absolutely fucking worthless replies to this question. You guys do know that the point of a guide is to explain everything from start to finish, right? Instead, you all have left people guessing to figure it out on their own, but if they could figure it out on their own, they wouldn't have looked at a guide in the first place.

The only helpful posts are the ones saying that you can also grab the hook and still be under 13%, so that seems to be the only true solution to this. Thanks to all the decent human beings who posted this helpful workaround to the flaws of this guide.

I just completed the game on hardcore and switched to casual at the exploding room. I still got the minimalist acheivement following this guide, and switching difficulties.

It worked like a charm thank you. I finished it in 1:36:34 with 11% of items on casual.

I used the infinite foam, which helped alot as I built bridges over the top of the map at the end so that I bypassed all of the rooms. It is possible to do it without the Hook-Shot and the triple jump.

It is also very helpful to have the golden guns, they make boss fights very simple.

Thank you for the great guide.
