Crackdown team wanted 200 achievements

Crackdown was originally set to feature 200 unlockable achievements, but Microsoft wouldn't allow it, according to an MTV report.

The website reports that the Real Time Worlds team planned for 200 and asked Microsoft to raise the cap.

"They were only allowing 50, and we were saying, 'Oh, that's going to cripple us,'" RTW's David Jones explained. "Eventually they announced they were going to a higher number." That number was 80, which Jones says is Microsoft's new maximum.

However, early reports suggest Crackdown will only offer 43 achievements, for a total of 900 gamerpoints - with the additional 100 that make up the boxed game's obligatory 1000 due to follow in free downloadable content.

Either way, the emphasis was on rewarding the player - with the developers even programming the clouds to do interesting things so that players who had scaled the half-mile-high agency building had something to enjoy

Dude, that would SUCK. I'm happy that they didn't package 1000 GS into 200 achievements.

~5 points per achievement? Fuck that.

I think 100 would be a good number to go with for max. 50 seems a little low for games like this, Oblivion, etc.. 200 would be a little high, and 80 seems like an odd number too

Yea 200 would suck. I would hate to work hard on a tough achievement for 5 points. Especially something like finding orbs.

itll be nice when there is a little bit more uniformity between games (never complete) but at least start a game with 1k.

200 would be kinda fun though... that little achievement unlocked icon would be going off the hook!

2000 would have been better, 0.5 points a pop.

Look at a car.
Walk across the street.
Jump.
Jump just after landing from the last jump.
Pick up a gun.
Drop a gun.
Drop two guns.
Drop a gun then realise you didn't want to drop that one so pick it up again and then switch to the one you really wanted to drop.

I think that 50 really should stay as the maximum. Otherwise they get a little tedious (as shown).

I just had to clean my pants after not controlling my bladder with laughter caused by that statement. Thanks for the fun stuff...and yeah, 100 would be pretty nice for a larger game like Oblivion and this one as well. Small incremented achievements would be fun in certain games.

Hey, I don't care how many they put in the game as long as they end in a 5 or 0. I couldn't get the last Rico message in RR6 cuz i lost my save and I'll never get it even again..

At least it isnt like NBA 2K6 where they're worth 100-250 a piece. I think 100 would be a cool max for achievements. 50 is sometimes low, depending on the game. Like 100 for GTA4 would be cool....more fun
