I need a fix for this. Something that doesn't involve deleting my gamertag.

Depending on what tier of support you get through you may have more luck. I noticed that those people that got to higher levels of customer support tended to have have more success getting the error fixed.

maybe if you actually describe what the fuck you were trying to do when you got this message (xbox.com, dashboard, entering a code, downloading something) maybe someone can help you. Maybe if you say please, someone will actually give a damn and help you!!

pointless, you mean like your post. My post actually requested further information in order to see what the issue could be. Your post on the other hand isn't relevent to this thread what so ever.

As far as this thread is concerned. Without of course know exactly where this guy got this message or what he was doing, i'd say it has to do with a possible new account. I recieved an error like this once and it was on a brand new account which i was trying to activate a 3 month gold membership. It turned out my phone number wasn't entered, which isn't required when making your initial account, after entering the phone number it was all good. I needed to phone in for this, as i didn't know what it meant.

Yes, it would be nice if he gave more information, but there's no need to swear at him for it. I think where you're concerned you need to show people a little respect when you reply to them.

no see i don't really think so, for the most part i'm fairly good with responding to peoples questions. I know when i ask for help with a certain issue i'm always thanking people in advance for their help, and most people do the same.

So to be finished with responding here, i'm polite if their polite. And demanding help and ending it with a eff you, imo isn't polite. Either way, he got his answer i think.

Call support. I had that error for a while. But they worked with me to have it removed.

I had this problem too awhile ago but it did fix by itself the next day,try to wait some hour if nothing happens call M$.

I had this problem a while back and i waited and it didnt fix itself. I called Microsoft and they guided my through fixing it and it hasnt happened since.

though i'm not sure what the actual error code is for, it means one of two things. one, xbox live is down. or two, you're connection is bad right now.

i'm going with the latter since i'm on xbox live right now with no problems and it's sleeting outside.

i dunno, i'm thinking it must have something to do with a gamertag that is either new and just made, or old and just now connecting to xbl and needs to enter all his personal info, such as location and phone number, and complete name and all that. who knows without knowing where and when he got the message though

-try to redeem a Microsoft points card
-try to upgrade my membership on the site or console
-try to add Microsoft points

well OP, i'd have to say then it's definetely the absence of needed information, most likely a phone number or something along those lines. Of course, MS would tell you that very quickly if you called them, thats what they did for me.

I've been getting the same status code while trying to add a credit card. And all of my information is updated and correct.
Edit: I tried using the CC on a different account and got the same code. So I'm guessing it's a problem with xbox live. Hopefully.

I had that error. It basically assumes(in my case becuase I had 2 accounts on the same credit card) that someone's hacked your account or something and will not let you buy anything on Marketplace. You need to phone up the xbox people and hope they fix it. You have prove the account is yours basically. they ask credit card details and stuff if you have one. btw it tookm them about 2 weeks to fix mine and another week to actually phone and say they had so keep trying even if they dont phone you back.
