Found One!

I found one at my nans a while ago, i remember plaing it whe i was really young. It belongs to my uncle who had it when he when he lived their years ago. I actually recognise some of the games and played it to check it works, galaga is classic and there was a helicopter game that i hope they bring to arcade too.

Are these machines actually worth anything?

Not really. I just searched Craig's List (it's a local ebay express site).

Atari w/ 2 controllers, 2 paddles, and 14 cartridges = $25
2 Atari Pros w/ 2 controllers and 16 games = $50

Nice find anyways. Gotta give the older games some love now and then.

I used to love playing frogger for hours on the old school atari but now you really can't find that cartridge anywhere.

This system is fucking ace. And in no-way am I trying to act like the 'RETRO GAMER'. I'm only 16 but this was my first system. The ET game was the shit!

But yeah, I got mine still, works good too. Coolest thing in the world.

The ET game was shit. It's up there with Custer's Revenge for shittiest game ever on my list. I remember the whole ET extra cartridges fiasco. Where there was a giant landfill, literally full of ET cartridges. Can you imagine that? Was front page news for a while.

I bought one a few months ago and it's okay, I probably would be into games the way I am today if I lived back then. There are a few games on it I like though. I think E.T. is terrible.

I have a couple of 5200s (my brother picked up one for me at a garage sale in case I need parts - smart man, he is) with a trackball controller and a handful of games. I probably play it once every six months or so. That's the first system I personally owned (the family had a 2600). I remember being "upset" because my system came with Pac-Man instead of Super Breakout. Weird priorities, I know.

I don't know what ended up happening to my old system. Probably sold it when I was in college. I got this one off eBay several years ago ...

Oh yeah, I have a couple of Lynxes as well, one original and one slim. California Games ftw!

Best ever games for the Atari were Superfrog and Soccer Kid - pure genius, I wish they were released on the XBLA, I'd seriously pay full retail price for them.

If your talking about the Atari St, then surely the best games for that were Speedball 2 & SWOS. Zool was pretty good and so was Cannon Fodder if I remember correctly...

I thank you Monkfish for bringing back amazing memories. Cannon Fodder is one of my all time favourite games. Pure genius.

I agree with those that say that E.T. was a terrible game. But the problem was that as soon as my brother and I would get a game, my mom would throw away the box and the book. Most games were simple enough without the book, but not E.T. Of course, back then there was no website like this, so we literally had NO idea what we were doing in E.T. I just remember that our final score would always seem to be 3.

Hey no dissing the only game I had for the Lynx!

Seriously, my parents won it in a random comp, and were too cheapskate to buy any other games for it, so I had to make do with smashing my head with the BMX, drowning myself on the surfing, scraping my knee caps off on the halfpipe and just plain ignoring the keepy-uppy thing :/

I have about a half dozen Atari 2600 game decks -- three switches on front, two swithes on front, the Jr model, and a couple different Sears rebrands with about 120 different cartridges... (plus, the requisite 10 or so copies of Combat & Pac-Man)! I also have two 5200s w/ a handful of games, an Intellivision, a Coleco Vision, and other non-Atari decks as well. Atari RULES!!! (Now, I just need a small enough TV to play them on!)

In 1977, when I was 28 years old, my ex and I bought an Atari 2600 for her son, which he didn't play. So I did and 35 years later, I'm still playing games. Sadly, not on it. I sold it when I got the Atari 7800. Big mistake.
