I love your guides, man, but I'm stuck trying to get near grog from Kate, and the guide just says "Use bottle o near grog" for the drinking contest. I don't have the bottle and searching the page for the words "near" "grog" and "bottle" isn't helping? Could someone please tell me how to get the near grog?

E: Durr, I hadn't picked up the envelope after lettin her out of jail.

TastefulMrShip,

Is it wrong that I get the warm and fuzzies everytime a point and click comes out on the XBLA because I know you will be there for me with a detailed achievement walkthrough?

Yes...?!?!? That is quite possibly one of the most disturbing things I've heard in years! However, doesn't it feel good to feel dirty and sexually deviant once in a while?

IMPORTANT NOTE: Always wipe your X360 controller thoroughly after use!

S h o v e l and MikeyLikesIt; I have added some notes in the areas you guys had problems, so hopefully no-one else will have the same issues! Thanks muchly! ^_^

Oh man, is it a glitch? I can't seem to be able to nail the coffin!

Stan always gets out of the coffin, it seems humanly impossible to do it on time, in fact I think I've already did as fast as possible (in my 28th try), but the game never returns the cursor to me when Stan is talking while the coffin is closed.
Another thing, you say if one fails one should select "Talk to Stan" but that option never happens as, I can continue to ask him to show the coffin, again amd again, or if I leace the shop and return the dialog begins straight away.
Help!!!!

Haha, funny you said that, because I found a part in the game where someone commented on "expensive adventure games" and was immediately reminded of that same guy.

Anyway, another fantastically successful speed run thanks to your guide. Thanks!

Sorry, I forgot to delete the 'Talk to Stan' part, 'cos this is one of those differences between the Amiga/PC version and the XBLA.

Ok, outside Stan's shop, press LT and move the cursor so it's selecting the hammer in your inventory. Exit the inventory screen [B]. Go into Stan's shop and you'll immediately converse with him. Select 'I'm looking for a good used coffin', then close the coffin. Stan will give you the clean, white hankie and get out. You will go back into conversation mode, so select 'Could you show me that used coffin again?" and close it. Immediately hit LT and then RT to select the hammer as your used object, then move the cursor to the right (or where the nails are in your inventory) and press RT to select 'use hammer on nails'. Continue doing this until Stan is finally locked in the coffin. It's a perseverance thing, I'm afraid!
You'll have the same problem when you get to the Spitting Contest and when you have to give the clean, white hankie to LeChuck!

If anyone else has an easier method of doing this, then I'd be dang glad to add it to my walkthrough. This took me ages to do, last week.

For anyone having issues like above ^^^ I would suggest using the original Point and Click control system (found in 'Settings'). It's been tweaked for this game, but I found it easier and never used the 'new' control scheme. Good Luck

@ sarone: Thanks, I was just wondering if it had glitched on me, because, it does seem like impossible (or at least it did last night). And yes, I'm using the point and click method, I was very surprised with the new controls, and pissed, then I found one can change it to the way the game is meant to be played. I was like, what? the guy (pun) is moving without me pointing where to go?! Is this Monkey Island?

I'm quite surprised you guys are having so much trouble with the SE:Manual Mode (ie, directional control). I found it to be easier than the original point-n-click method; namely because you can move the pointer into the required position, then select the item/verb you need without having to drag the pointer back to the bottom of the screen and then back up again.

My first run-through was in Original Mode as I'd already played it numerous times that day and was overly familiar the drag method. When I played through again with an alternate account, I used the SE:Manual Mode and steamed through the game without any problems.

EDIT: On reflection, I think I know why I prefered the directional control; I'm a veteran of the TellTale games (S&M:S3, ToMI, W&GGA) and that control system seems more natural to me!

I think getting banned here has seriously scared him/her off; SegaJack does not exist as a valid GamerTag on XBL anymore! I guess he/she changed it to hide from the embarrassment of being such an aggressive bully!

The other week, I received another nasty message on XBL from someone I had never seen before claiming I was "a sh*t gamer and will die from cancer". Well, statistically, that's probably correct as 1 in 3 people will suffer one form of cancer or another! And I do have difficulty with hand-eye coordination, so the former is probably true as well!
I reckoned it was either SegaJack in his/her new guise, or one of his/her scared minions...

I completed the game initially of my own volition, but I used this speedguide just then.

Thanks so much Mrship. I got it all done in about 1 hr 15 minutes, and am ranked 50th in the world apparently! So when you say there are probably better guides out there, I doubt it. A truly excellent guide by a truly excellent man.

I just spent ages trying to get Le'Chuck to use the hanky in SE mode after a good 20mins or so i gave up, flicked into Orginal Mode and went to the far left room as you said. Selected GIVE TO and the Clean Hanky, hovered over the door and hit it as soon as i got cursor control back. Don't know why it was so hard in SE mode, never had that prob before when playing MI2

Anyway hope this helps anyone stuck where i was

Thanks for the speed run instructions, Taste. I think I beat the original Monkey Island around 2 1/2 hours. But this time just a shade under a minute 15.

Ahh, ok this "random part" is really screwing up my time, I am at the part where LeChuck keeps showing up with the voodoo doll and sending me to random parts of the map, I, eventually, managed to collect everything, but now I am just sat in the lift waiting for him, I have been here 10-15 mins easily, is there something specific you have to do to make him show up because waiting for him to come on his own isn't working.

EDIT: ok I have gotten him to show up a few times now, but I pull the lever and nothing, he just sends me to a random room.

I wouldn't really say that they were too difficult. Outside of maybe some of the trophies in Episode 2 "The Tomb of Sammun-mak" most of the trophies that I've gotten in the PS3 version were pretty easy, but can be somewhat annoying.

Sorry, it didn't come out too well in text; what I meant was that it's difficult to write an achievement walkthrough if TTG decide to copy the PS3 Trophies to the XBLA version. For example; ASK YOUR PARENTS & DON'T ASK YOUR PARENTS in The Penal Zone would require me to actually work out which references were correct and that's pretty difficult (OH I SAY in W&G#2 was bad, but infinitely easier!)
So... it's not impossible (especially with 16 alt accounts) but still pretty difficult.

Gameplay-wise, you're correct; they do not seem to be too difficult. But there's only so much you can do with an adventure game that doesn't change at all!
