It is decent....

The game is decent, but from what I have heard from others and have seen from time to time, it can be a little glitchy...

Glitchy? How so... I 1k'd ACII yesterday, no glitches from what I experienced.

The only thing that's kind of glitchy is the No-hitter achievement, but that's just a little bit annoying. Rest of the game is perfectly fine.

I hated the first one but I got the second one anyway and I like it. It's a pretty easy 1000G and I feel the story line is better than the first. I actually had fun with this game as well unlike the first one.

I just 1k'ed these games back to back over the last 10 or so days. I don't necessarily think that II is SO much better then the first one. In fact I actually liked the first better. I guess I'll list some comparisons to strengthen my opinion.

The Platforming-This was a major factor in me even being interested in these games. While II has good platforming, the original for me was flawless, I've never played a game with a better control over climbing, it's like Altair will climb anything you want him to. Ezio on the other hand will sometimes hesitate to climb buildings or sometimes jump in a different direction then you want him to go.

The Characters-II definitely has the upper hand here, but not as much as you'd think. Besides the fact that Ezio's character is 20 times more fleshed out then Altair, I find Altair's character fun as well. He's got a take no shit type of approach to his work which I like, while Ezio is more of a charismatic character. The supporting cast is good in both games, with great voice acting and interesting characters. I enjoyed the villians in 1 slightly better than II (except the end boss, as Borgia was far more interesting than Al Maulim and his treachery you could see a mile away)

The Plot-II is obviously better here, that is until the end, which is just a little too out there for me. At least in one they are mostly sticking to the fact you're an Assassin, which is basically what the game is supposed to be about. II goes into some crazy cosmic stuff at the end that left me scratching my head and wondering why the hell it made a crazy left turn like that. I dunno, I just liked the simplistic plot of one compared to the confusing plot of II, with the endings anyway.

Gameplay-Altair would win this hands down if he could swim, but unfortunately it knocks him down a few notches. But as far as fighting goes, Altair is a 20 times better fighter then Ezio (combo kills aside). While Ezio has much cooler weapons, what Altair has he uses awesomely. I did love the fact that you could swim with Ezio though, and the costume changes are a nice touch. Also liked the economic system, which made it feel like an RPG of sorts. Overall the gameplay is about even for me, but Altair is still better as a character in battle.

Side Missions-Even though Assassins Creed 1 gets extremely repetitive with collecting flags and spying on people, II has alot of the same flaws, with the stupid feathers and escorting people from one side of the city to the other. I also hated the glyphs in II, I hate puzzle games and this one was no exception. 1 had none of that crap, it was just assassinations and platforming. I actually liked 1 better in this category.

Overall I liked them both, and the fact that you can go back and play through the sequences again is kinda cool. But I had slightly more fun with the original, with the exception of the flag collecting that is .

Just started to play AC2 and I must say it's improved alot, there is more depth in the game. More weapons, upgradable stronghold, hidden places to find and more. It seems bigger too, so far I'm really satisfied with the game, deffo try it out.

Also it's not as repetative as first game. You get alot of different missions instead of just assassinating people in a row.

Assassin's Creed is my favorite franchise on the Xbox 360. That being said, the second game is just as repetitive gameplay wise as the first; most of the missions are very similar to each other, they're just done in different locations, etc. What sort of disguises this is that each mission has unique cutscenes and dialog behind it, unlike the first one. This is why I think many people say the second is not as repetitive as the first, but when you just look at the gameplay by itself it's not even a lot different from the first one; most missions involve you tailing people, assassinating someone, or getting from point A to point B. If you're looking for different gameplay from the first this game doesn't have a whole lot more to offer than the first but the story is definitely more fleshed out than the first, and that's why I love this game and the Assassin's Creed franchise in general. Repetitive gameplay doesn't bother me as long as there's a good story behind it. I enjoy the platforming aspect of these games anyways, just running around and doing whatever you want, which is what these games are for.

The first had more emphasis on being a spy, interrigator and a pickpocket. The second is just murdering lots of people for revenge

It is alot better than the first, (although I liked the first one too.) It's only twenty sum odd dollars so it's well worth it for that price and it was'nt rushed to market like the first one. In short I would strongly recomend giving it a try.

Loved this game, the complete story from both games when put together is brilliant; yes its a bit out there with some of it, but I found it extremely absorbing. I'm a big history lover and Italy is my favourite country (outside my own bonny Scotland ofc! ), so seeing all these cities as they mostly would've been back then and comparing them to now is one of the highlights of the game for me. Also seeing all these great historical characters come to life gives it an extra edge there. Yes the game is still repetitive but I was completely immersed in it and really engaged with Ezio's character (I felt Altair had a bit too much hubris in him, even though he was still cool!) so that anything he had to do, I was fully with him in getting the jobs done!

Also the game has a fantastic soundtrack, which is one of the best I've heard in a game in a long time - it really adds to the atmosphere of the whole thing.

Just started AC: Brotherhood now; not really into the multiplayer aspect but got it to continue the story.

Glad I got it in a trade recently then.

I'll agree with the OP though his post is really old, that number 1 was repetetive as hell and was so painful to 1000.

thought id put in my 2cents...

I asked around loads about this game, as i hadn't played the first one and didnt really have a clue what the crack was with it. Everyone said to avoid the first one, and pick up #2 and brotherhood....so i did....and i love them. apparently they're worlds apart from the first.

AC2 is one of those rare games, that for me, has managed to keep COD at bay and out of the tray.

I definitely recommend it!

I agree the first one IS repetitive AND kinda boring. Yet I love it.
So my opinion is if you HATED the first one, you WON'T love this one.

I have heard lots of ppl said the same as you did.
The way I see it, what you actually don't like is the way the game play, not the repetition.
If you love the game, you wouldn't mind to repeat it again and again.
At least that's what I think.

What I like about AC is the re-creation of historical location with excellent graphic.
And the fact that you can run around these locations which are not accessible to me.
Back in AC1, collecting flags sucks('cuz you gain nothing from it), but running around feels great.

So if "you think AC1 is too repetitive and don't like it", you may wanna try 2.
But if you say you "HATE" AC1, the whole Assassin's Creed series is probably not for you.
