Achievement Guide

Tune Up - Calibrate your audio/video setup for the optimal Rock Band 3 experience. 4

Upon starting Rock Band 3 for the first time, you will have the option of calibrating your audio/video setup with the game. If you skip this option, you can calibrate your settings from the main menu. Press Start>Options>System Settings>Calibration

Self-Made Dude or Lady - Create a Character. 5

This is a very simple task to complete. From the main menu, select Customize>Create Character. Once you have created your character, the achievement will unlock. Please remember, once you have saved your character’s body type, height, skin tone, etc. it CANNOT be changed.

Best. Name. Ever. - Rename your band. 5

From the main menu, select Customize>Customize Band>Edit Band Name

Enter a name for your band and the achievement will unlock after you have changed the name.

Well Connected - Connect your Rock Band 3 Band with rockband.com at http://www.rockband.com. 6

*This achievement appears to be glitchy for some players*

For this achievement, you will need a computer with internet access and an internet connection to connect to Xbox Live. From the main menu, press Start>Options>Extras>Account Linking Code. Write down your unique code and enter it at rockband.com by clicking the “enter code” option from the website’s main page along with you Xbox Live gamertag. You will then have to create a rockband.com profile if you do not already have one. The achievement will unlock after your account has been uploaded to Rock Band's Rock Central servers and you have started the game up connected to Xbox Live.

If you have a previously created rockband.com account that had a Rock Band 2 manual code applied to it, you will only need to "unlink" your old Rock Band 2 code and "link" your Rock Band 3 game code to the same account. If you are having trouble trying to link your code to an account, try "unlinking" and "relinking" on the Rock Band website. Creating an additional account and attempting to link your code to the newer account may also work. Please be aware that your account data (goals completed, most played instrument, number of fans, etc.) may be up to date on the website, but the Rock Central game servers may not immediately update to your Xbox Live account. Try plugging in an Xbox 360 controller if you have issues trying to unlock this achievement with other instrument controllers.

You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet - Maintain overdrive for 60 seconds. 20

For this achievement there must be a constant 2X or higher overdrive multiplier active for at least 60 consecutive seconds. This achievement will most likely unlock while playing with at least one other player. When playing in a band with other players, be sure that at least one player is in overdrive (this is easily done if all players can hit band overdrive unison bonuses). Coordinate with bandmates and take turns deploying overdrive if necessary. This achievement can also be obtained in solo play.

If you have exported Rock Band 1’s songs, “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” is the easiest way to get this on guitar or bass (any difficulty). Deploy your overdrive once your bar is completely full (about 10 seconds after you hit the second set of overdrive notes) and keep a maximum multiplier in the first 2 minutes of the song.

For drummers, "Wanted Dead or Alive" from RB1 is easy to get 60+ seconds on drums. Simply skip the first overdrive activation to fill your bar 3/4 and then immediately use overdrive during the second OD activation. If you are interested in purchasing a downloaded song to unlock this achievement, "The Kill" by 30 Seconds to Mars or "Sorry" by Guns N' Roses will easily net you this achievement on any instrument (both songs are 160 Microsoft Points each).

This achievement will unlock at the end of the song selected. If you are having trouble keeping track of the time, you can select the goal from the Career section of the game and a counter will keep track of your overdrive time while you play the song. From the main menu: Career>My Goals>Rock Band>Overdrive>You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet. After selecting the goal, choose the song that you want to play.

Millionaire Club - Get 1,000,000 on one song. 25

This achievement is easily unlocked while playing with at least 2 other players. Make sure that everyone hits as many overdrive notes as possible. As long as all band members can complete unison bonuses and deploy overdrive at the same, this achievement should be no problem. Try playing an 8 or 9-minute song in a band (like "Freebird" or "Green Grass and High Tides" from Rock Band 1's export ) if you are having trouble with this achievement.

Rock Band Master - 5 Star on Medium (or 3 Star on a higher difficulty) any 50 Rock Band 3 songs. 25

This is a very straightforward achievement. Play 50 Rock Band 3 songs and score 5 stars on Medium difficulty or 3+ stars on Hard or Expert difficulty. To check your progress, from the main menu select Career>My Goals>Rock Band>Band Song Progress>Rock Band 3 Medium Master. Press (or the blue button on guitar controllers) to check the songs that have been completed. The achievement will unlock once 50 songs have been 5-starred.

Rock Band Legend - 5 Star every song in Rock Band 3 on Hard. 30

*See Rock Band Immortal*

To check progress, from the main menu: Career>My Goals>Band Song Progress>5* Rock Band 3 Hard

Rock Band Immortal - 5 Star every song in Rock Band 3 on Expert. 50

There are 83 songs on-disc that you must 5-star on Expert difficulty to unlock this achievement. The 5-star score can be combined among all instrument scores (guitar, bass, drums, vocals and keyboard). To see your progress, from the main menu: Career>My Goals>Rock Band>Epic Rock Band 3>Rock Band Master.

Each song that has been 5-starred will have a check next to its name. The achievement will unlock once all 83 songs have been 5-starred on Expert. This can be earned in Quickplay or in Road Challenges.

*This achievement counts the final band score for each song. The final band score will be the same as an individual score when playing solo. When playing with additional players, your individual score does not matter. As long as your final band score is a 5-star Expert score, that song will count toward this achievement*

Alex's Luggage Combination - Beat a Rock Band 3 score of 12,345,678. 30

Don’t be fooled by the achievement description. You DO NOT have to score 12 million + points in one song. This achievement refers to your combined career score among all the instruments (guitar, bass, drums, vocals and keys). This achievement unlocks once your combined career score reaches 12, 345, 678+ points. To check your career progress, from the main menu: Career>My Goals>Rock Band>Epic Rock Band 3> Alex's Luggage Combination.

Hometown Threwdown - Complete the "Hometown Throwdown" Road Challenge. 20

Road challenge is a new mode in Rock Band 3 that replaces the old Band World Tour mode. To access Road Challenges, from the main menu: Play Now>Start A Road Challenge>Choose A Road Challenge. There are a total of 10 road challenges in Rock Band 3. Each road challenge contains a certain number of songs that are played in multi-song setlists. Spades are part of each challenge and they are awarded for the number of stars attained in each song played as well as specifc goals completed during each song for every setlist.

List of setlist goals:

All For One: Earn spades by achieving a high accuracy rate in each section of a song. The accuracy rate applies to all band members, so if one or more players misses too many notes, no spades bonus is earned and everyone must retry in the following song section.

Overdrive Chain: Earn spades by deploying your overdrive for as long as possible. Higher overdrive times equal higher spade bonuses. As long as one band member is in overdrive, the timer will continue to run.

Overdrive Overload: Earn spades by deploying overdrive as many times as possible.

Overdrive Streak: Earn spades by deploying a full bar of overdrive. A spades bonus is only awarded if you deploy a FULL bar of overdrive. Deploying it before the bar is full will not advance your bonus spades progress.

Share The Spotlight: Reach a target streak when you're in the spotlight to hand-off to the next player (if you are playing solo, you will be in the spotlight for an entire song). More note streaks maximize your bonus spades.

The goal of each challenge is to earn enough spades to earn fans that will eventually reward you with better transportation to unlock more road challenges. Each song can net you a maximum of 10 spades (1 spade for each star earned in each song and 1-5 spades for your goal completion progress throughout a song).

Custom challenges can be changed to fit your setlist wants (Rock Band 3 songs only, DLC only, etc.) This is a great way to easily complete any DLC or instrument-specific achievements. Once you select a custom challenge, just press the BACK button on your controller to change or completely reset the setlist filters. For random setlists, the top of the screen will tell you what songs have been randomly chosen. So you can select a set or back out to the setlist choices and keep choosing a setlist until you get the song(s) you need to play for achievements.

The Hometown Threwdown challenge contains three 2-song setlists for a total of 60 maximum spades. The highest challenge reward requires 55/60 spades earned.

Real Nor'easter - Complete "The Wicked Awesome Tour". 20

*See "Hometown Threwdown"* This is the third challenge to complete. There are a total of 9 songs. The highest challenge reward requires 80/90 spades earned. This achievement will unlock after the challenge has been completed.

Hell Defrosted - Win all rewards on the "Hell Freezes Over" Road Challenge. 25

*See "Hometown Threwdown"* This is the fourth challenge to complete. There are a total of 12 songs. The highest challenge reward requires 110/120 spades earned to unlock this achievement.

Wilderness Survival - Complete the "Through the Wilderness, Eh?" Road Challenge. 20

*See "Hometown Threwdown"* This is the fifth challenge to complete. There are a total of 6 songs. The highest challenge reward requires 55/60 spades earned. This achievement will unlock after the challenge has been completed.

Major Mileage - Get 90 or more spades on "The Long Drive South" Road Challenge. 25

*See "Hometown Threwdown"* This is the seventh challenge to complete. There are a total of 12 songs. To unlock this achievement, you must earn 90 spades out of a possible 120.

Party Animal - Completed the "Total Debauchery" Road Challenge. 20

*See "Hometown Threwdown"* This is the eighth challenge to complete. There are a total of 9 songs. The highest challenge reward requires 80/90 spades earned. This achievement will unlock after the challenge has been completed.

The Connoisseur's Connoisseur - Get 90 or more spades on "The European Connoisseur" Road Challenge. 25

*See "Hometown Threwdown"* This is the ninth challenge to complete. There are a total of 12 songs. The highest challenge reward requires 110/120 spades earned.

Mile High Club - Complete the "Really Frequent Flyers" Road Challenge. 25

*See "Hometown Threwdown" and "Ultimate Road Warrior"*

Ultimate Road Warrior - Win all awards on the "Really Frequent Flyers" Road Challenge. 30

This is the final road challenge. There are a total of 20 songs to complete. To unlock The "Ultimate Road Warrior" achievement, you will have to earn 180 spades out of a possible 200. "Mile High Club" will unlock after this road challenge has been completed.

HOPO-cidal Maniac - Kill 53,596 Hammer-ons and Pull-offs. 25

The description suggests that bass AND guitar HOPOs will count toward this, but this achievement can ONLY be unlocked while playing guitar. Also, this achievement counts Hammer-ons and Pull-offs that are NOT strummed. Rock Band Network trial songs and Practice mode notes do NOT count. Songs played must be completed for HOPOs to count. Rock Band 3 disc songs, exports and downloadable songs all count toward this achievement. However, songs played online DO NOT count toward this achievement. "HOPO-cidal Maniac" will unlock once you finish the song that totals your cumulative HOPO count to 53, 597+. To check your progress, from the main menu: Career>My Goals>Guitar>Epic Guitar Goals (First icon in the second column).

Check THIS thread for a complete list of songs that will make this achievement easier to unlock.

Bleeding Fingers - Get 85% on all Guitar Solos in Rock Band 3 on Hard or Expert. 30

There are a total of 37 Rock Band 3 songs that have guitar solos. At least one solo in each of these songs must be finished with a percentage of 85% or higher. The average Rock Band player should be able to complete at least half of the 37 songs on Expert difficulty without much trouble. For any songs that present a challenge on Expert, drop down to Hard difficulty to get the 85% needed. To check your song progress, from the main menu: Career>My Goals>Guitar>Guitar Solo Goals (the icon with the two guitars and the blue background on the second row)

Guitar Perfectionist - Get 100% accuracy on Expert Guitar. 25

This achievement may be confusing to some. You must get a 100% accuracy score on any song on Expert difficulty. Unlike previous versions of Rock Band, over strumming will cancel this achievement, since the percentage is based on your accuracy and not your final song score. So it is possible to have a 100% score with over strums but not 100% accuracy. Simply play a song on guitar on expert difficulty and don't make any mistakes.

"Low Rider" is the easiest Rock Band 3 song to get a 100% accuracy score on guitar. There are no chords to play (only single notes, including some orange notes). If you exported Rock Band 1’s setlist, warm-up difficulty songs like “Say It Ain’t So” and “Maps” are easy to get 100% on. Free downloadable songs like “Charlene (I’m Right Behind You)” and “Still Alive” are also to easy 100%.

Guitar Apprentice - 5 Star on Easy Guitar (or 3 Star on a higher difficulty) any 25 Rock Band 3 songs. 20

This is very simple. 5-star any 25 songs on the Rock Band 3 disc on Easy difficulty or 3+ star on Medium, Hard or Expert. The achievement will unlock once you complete the 25th song.

Bass Streaker - Get a streak of 500 notes on Bass. 10

Most players will unlock this achievement naturally while playing through the game. If you are having trouble with this achievement, try to choose a song with lots of bass notes. This can be completed on any difficulty.

Some suggestions on Expert difficulty:

Du Hast
Everybody Wants To Rule the World
I Wanna Be Sedated
The Look
Promised Land (free to download in the Rock Band Music Store)

Most Authentic Strummer - Hit 100% of the notes, only strumming up, on Hard Bass. 10

This is easy to complete by playing “Charlene (I’m Right Behind You)” on bass. The song is free to download in the Rock Band Music Store. This achievement also unlocks on Expert difficulty. Remember, you must UP-strum all of the notes. Strumming in any Big Rock Endings may cancel the achievement, so avoid hitting Big Rock Endings notes altogether. "Imagine," "Du Hast" and "I Love Rock N' Roll" are also easy Rock Band 3 disc songs on bass. If you are having trouble with this achievement, check to make sure that your guitar's strum bar is not registering any extra/down strummed notes.

*This achievement can also be unlocked by down strumming while in Lefty Mode (use a mirror if necessary)*

Bass Apprentice - 5 Starred on Easy Bass (or 3 Starred on a higher difficulty) 25 Rock Band 3 songs. 20

This is very simple. 5-star any 25 Rock Band 3 disc songs on Easy difficulty or 3+ star on Medium, Hard or Expert. The achievement will unlock once you complete the 25th song.

Drum Roll, Please! - Nail a drum roll. 10

A drum roll in Rock Band 3 is a highlighted tube of notes that are grouped together. Anyone who has played Guitar Hero on drums will probably be familiar with this. Drum rolls only appear on Expert difficulty and this achievement CANNOT be unlocked on Pro drums.

Below is a list of all disc songs with drum rolls in them. The parenthesis indicate how many drums rolls are in each song and the sections where they can be found in practice mode:

* 25 or 6 to 4 (1--Ending)
*Beast and the Harlot (4--Intro A, Bridge~2 drum rolls, Outro)
*Bohemian Rhapsody (1--Verse 1)
*Caught In a Mosh (1--Bridge)
*Cold As Ice (2--Chorus 1, Bridge)
*Foolin' (2--Verse 1, Chorus 1)
*I Feel Good (1--Bridge)
*Lasso (1--Chorus 1a)
*Llama (5--GTR Solo C)
*Low Rider (4--Intro, Chorus 2, Chorus 3, Chorus 4)
*Roundabout (2--Bridge B, Guitar Break)
*Space Oddity (2--Bridge 1, Bridge 2)
*Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before (2--Outro)
*Walking on the Sun (1--Intro)

If you are having trouble with this achievement, turn on No-Fail mode and try to hit the drum roll at the beginning of "Walking on the Sun." Restart the song as many times as you need to until you successfully hit the drum roll. Let the song finish and the achievement will unlock at the score display screen. You can also try hitting the drum roll at the very beginning of "Low Rider."

Fastest Feet - Hit 90% of the Kick notes in a song on Hard Drums. 15

This is easy to complete by playing “Charlene (I’m Right Behind You).” The achievement CAN be unlocked if you choose to save your overdrive for the entire song. Have someone press the bass pedal notes, if getting 90% of the kicks is a problem. "Fastest Feet" can also be unlocked by playing on Expert difficulty.

*This achievement CANNOT be unlocked on Pro drums*

Drums Apprentice - 5 Star on Easy Drums (or 3 Star on a higher difficulty) any 25 Rock Band 3 songs. 20

This is very simple. 5-star any 25 Rock Band 3 disc songs on Easy difficulty or 3+ star on Medium, Hard or Expert. The achievement will unlock once you complete the 25th song.

Keys Streaker - Get a streak of 350 notes on Keys. 15

This achievement can ONLY be unlocked with a keyboard controller. Play the keys part on a song on any difficulty and get a 350 note streak. The achievement will unlock at the end of the song. If you play a song on keys with a guitar and get a 350+ note streak, the achievement will unlock if you switch to a keyboard controller and finish another song with the keyboard peripheral. If you are having trouble with this achievement, try playing "Antibodies" on Pro Keys Easy difficulty.

Keys Apprentice - 5 Star on Easy Keys (or 3 Star on a higher difficulty) any 25 Rock Band 3 songs. 20

Songs for this achievement can be played with a guitar controller or a keyboard controller but it can only be UNLOCKED with a keyboard controller. 5-star any 25 Rock Band 3 disc songs on Easy difficulty or 3+ star on Medium, Hard or Expert. The achievement will unlock once you complete the 25th song with a keyboard. If you play all 25 songs with a guitar on keys, simply replay one of the 25 songs with a keyboard controller and the achievement will unlock at the end of the song.

*This achievement DOES NOT stack with the "Pro Keys Apprentice" achievement*

Pro Bass Apprentice - 5 Star on Easy Pro Bass (or 3 Star on a higher difficulty) any 25 Rock Band 3 songs. 20

This achievement requires a Pro guitar controller. 5-star any 25 Rock Band 3 disc songs in Pro mode on Easy difficulty or 3+ star on Medium, Hard or Expert. The achievement will unlock once you complete the 25th song. Try playing songs with additional players for a higher individual score if you have trouble with this.

Drum Trainer Initiate - Complete the introductory Pro Drum Trainer lessons. 15

From the main menu, go to: Training>Learn An Instrument>Pro Drums>Easy Lessons

For this achievement and “Drum Trainer Graduate,” you will need a Rock Band 3 drum set or you will have to buy the Pro cymbals expansion for a Rock Band 2 or a Beatles Rock Band drum set. This achievement CANNOT be unlocked with a Rock Band 1 drum set.

There are 3 sections of lessons that must be completed:
*Introduction To The Kit (5 lessons)
*Basic Beats (5 lessons)
*Basic Fills (10 lessons)

These lessons must be done at full speed with no overhits. After the last lesson is completed, the achievement will unlock.

*See “Drum Trainer Graduate”*

Drum Trainer Graduate - Complete the final Pro Drum Trainer lessons. 30

Again, this achievement requires a Rock Band 2 model drum set and the Pro cymbals expansion. This achievement CANNOT be unlocked with a Rock Band 1 drum set. From the main menu, go to: Training>Learn An Instrument>Pro Drums>Expert Lessons. There are 3 sections of lessons that must be completed:

*Advanced Techniques (22 lessons)
*Advanced Beats (40 lessons)
*Advanced Fills (15 lessons)

Anyone familiar with “Tre’s Greatest Hits” from Green Day: Rock Band can breath a sigh of relief. These beats should be fairly easy for most players. There are a few tricky beats to master, but nothing too impossible. If you are having trouble with any lessons, try slowing down the speed of the track to figure out how to play the beat at full speed. You can also assign a friend to do the bass pedal parts for you.

Once all expert lessons have been completed at 100%, the achievement will unlock.

Play a Real Guitar Already! - Play "The Hardest Button to Button" on Pro Guitar. 15

This achievement requires a Pro guitar controller. From the main menu: Career>My Goals>Pro Guitar>Introducing Pro Guitar>First Real Song. This can be completed on any difficulty and No-fail mode can also be used. The achievement will unlock at the end of the song.

Pro Guitar to the Max - Max out your Score Multiplier meter on Pro Guitar. 15

This achievement requires a Pro guitar controller. For this achievement, you must earn a 40+ note streak during a song; difficulty does not matter. Most players should earn this achievement while playing songs to unlock Pro Guitar Aprentice. If you are having trouble, try playing "The Hardest Button To Button" on Easy difficulty. If you need help keeping track of your note streak, simply play in the Goals section. From the main menu: Career>My Goals>Pro Guitar>General Pro Guitar Goals>Pro Guitar To The Max.

Power Chords - Complete the "Power Chords" lessons in the Pro Guitar trainer. 15

*See Pro Keys Graduate*

From the main menu, go to: Training>Learn An Instrument>Pro Guitar>Medium Lessons>Power Chords. There are a total of 8 lessons that must be completed. The pause method used in Pro Keys Graduate can also be used for Pro Guitar lessons. Remember, ONLY the first run of a lesson will count using this method. So be sure to press left and right on the d-pad to reset the lesson if you make a mistake.

Fender Mustang players
If you are right-handed, try to strum each note with your thumb and keep your strumming hand as close as you can to the START and BACK section of the guitar. Once you strum each note, IMMEDIATELY use your pinky finger to pause the game. Make sure that your pinky finger is ALWAYS hovering over the START button before and after each note that you play. This will take a little getting used to. If you are left-handed, try pausing with your thumb and use your index finger to strum. This may feel awkward in either case and assigning a friend to press START for you is recommended.

Fender Squire players
You will need an extra person to pause the game between notes for you on your Xbox MIDI adapter. You can also try pausing with your foot if that doesn't seem awkward.

Below is a list of the chords that must be played for each lesson. This may look VERY intimidating, but it is pretty simple to understand. The numbers have been written to help players understand what must be played if the in-game instructions don't seem clear enough to follow.

The first number is the fret number (the number found on the top and at the bottom of the guitar). The second number is the string number within that fret that must be held (1 being the first string from the top and 6 being the last string). If there is a plus (+) then the fret numbers "added together" must be played at the same time. The third number (following the equal [=] sign) is the string that must be strummed to register the individual note or chord. Each set of notes that must be played is separated by an asterisk.

Lesson 1 (strum all on the first string):
*2-2 *2-2 *2-2 *2-2

Complex Chords - Complete the "More Chord Holding and Arpeggiation" Pro Guitar lessons. 25

*See Power Chords*

From the main menu, go to: Training>Learn An Instrument>Pro Guitar>Expert Lessons>More Chord Holding and Arpeggiation. There are a total of 5 lessons that must be completed. Below are two lists of notes. One list is chords-only for players who have learned how to read the individual notes between each chord. The second list is a list of all notes for each lesson:

This achievement will take quite a while for most players to finish. If you have learned the game's Pro guitar notation and can play and pause consistently without making mistakes or over strumming, this will take at least one hour to do. After all 5 lessons have been completed at 100%, the achievement will unlock.

Pro Guitar Apprentice - 5 Star on Easy Pro Guitar (or 3 Star on a higher difficulty) any 25 Rock Band 3 songs. 20

This achievement requires a Pro guitar controller. 5-star any 25 songs Rock Band 3 disc songs in Pro mode on Easy difficulty or 3+ star on Medium, Hard or Expert. The achievement will unlock once you complete the 25th song. Try playing songs with additional players for a higher individual score if you have trouble with this.

Pro Keyboardist - Hit at least 90% of the notes in 3 songs on Expert Pro Keys. 15

This achievement requires a keyboard controller. Score a 90% or higher in Pro keys mode in 3 songs on Expert difficulty. This is not a difficult achievement but it will take some time to unlock for most players. Here are a few songs that are easy to get a 90%+ score on:

*Devo—Whip It: This song consists of 2 sets of the same notes with one variation near the end. The track shifts between the two sets of notes, so be aware of your hand position and this song should not be a problem.

*INXS—Need You Tonight: This is, without question, the easiest song on keys in Rock Band 3. The entire song on Pro keys is one chord played over and over. This will be the easiest of the three songs needed for this achievement.

*Warren Zevon—Werewolves of London: For most of this song, you will be playing a set of eight two-note chords over and over. Extra notes will show up in the song a few times. But as long as you can consistently hit the eight chords over and over, you should have no problem scoring above a 90%. If the chords are giving you trouble, you can try playing the song using both of your index fingers or play one note of the chords and assign a second person to press the second note for all the chords on the keyboard.

*Slipknot—Before I Forget: This song's chart does not shift, but compared to the simplicity of the other three songs listed, some players may find this song's keys chart very frustrating to play. The notes span from one end of the keyboard to the other, so practice is recommended.

"Pro Keyboardist" will unlock at the end of the third song that you complete with a 90%+ score. To check your progress, from the main menu: Career>My Goals>Pro Keyboard>General Pro Keyboard Goals>90% Expert Pro Keys.

Pro Keys Graduate - Complete the final Pro Keys trainers. 25

This achievement requires a keyboard controller. To find the Pro keys trainer, from the main menu: Training>Learn An Instrument>Pro Keys>Expert Lessons. There are 4 sections of lessons that must be completed:

*Advanced Scales (4 lessons)
*Popular 4-Note Chords (6 lessons)
*Advanced Moving Within Chords (7 lessons)
*Advanced Techniques (3 lessons)

This achievement will DEFINITELY be an annoyance for most players. Even experienced keyboardists might have a little trouble with the Pro keys trainer. Rock Band 3 offers helpful tips at the top of the screen for each lesson, but there isn't a visual reference for hand placement. So Pro keys will take some getting used to for novice keyboardists.

As complicated and intimidating as many of the Expert lessons look, there is a VERY easy way to complete all of these lessons. Simply start up one of the Expert lessons and IMMEDIATELY pause the game after hitting the first note of the lesson. When you are ready, un-pause the game, hit the following note (or chord) and quickly pause the game again. When you hit each note just before pausing, the game registers that note as being hit, so you will achieve a 100% rating for all the lessons as long as you pause and un-pause the game after playing each note. Be sure to play each lesson one note at a time to make things easy for yourself.

Only the first run of each lesson counts when doing this method. So, if you make a mistake, be sure to press left or right on the D-pad to re-select the lesson you were playing (to ensure that your 100% score gets counted toward the achievement). Some notes may need to be played a few times to register, so just pause and un-pause until you see the note gem disappear. For note chords, pause and un-pause the game as many times as you need to to figure out which notes need to be played for that chord.

This will take about 2-3 hours to complete solo and about 1-2 hours if you can get a friend to help with some of the more challenging 4-note chords.

Forum poster SK L4xX has made a video to show the simplicity of this method:

Pro Keys to the Max - Max out your Score Multiplier meter on Pro Keys. 15

This achievement requires a keyboard controller. Pick any song with a Pro key part and achieve a 30+ note streak. This achievement should unlock naturally while playing Pro Keys for the "Pro Keys Apprentice" achievement. If you are having trouble getting this achievement, turn on the No Fail option and play "Whip It" on Expert Pro Keys. Hit enough notes at the beginning of the song to get a 4X multiplier and let the song finish once you max out the multiplier. The achievement will unlock once the score screen is displayed.

Pro Keys Apprentice - 5 Star on Easy Pro Keys (or 3 Star on a higher difficulty) any 25 Rock Band 3 songs. 20

This achievement requires a keyboard controller. 5-star any 25 songs Rock Band 3 disc songs in Pro mode on Easy difficulty or 3 + star on Medium, Hard or Expert. The achievement will unlock once you complete the 25th song.

Triple Awesome - Get a Triple Awesome while playing with Vocal Harmonies. 10

*Please remember that vocal harmonies can ONLY be done locally. You CANNOT complete vocal harmonies with other players online*

You will need at least 2 microphones for this achievement. The achievement can be completed on any difficulty using any downloadable songs, Rock Band 3 songs or Green Day: Rock Band songs with 3-part harmonies. For most players, the easiest song to sing will probably be "Rock Lobster." Try to get at least one person locally to help you with this if possible.

At the very beginning of "Rock Lobster," there are two easy triple harmony phrases that can be hit. The backing "ewwww" vocals must be sung with two microphones for both harmony parts to register before singing the blue lead vocals. There are triple harmonies throughout the song, so you should have no problem getting at least one triple awesome by the end. If you are having trouble with "Rock Lobster," you can restart from the beginning and try to hit the first two triple harmonies until you get them. No fail mode can also be turned on from the options menu if you are worried about failing out of the song before it ends. No fail will not cancel out the achievement.

“Centerfold” is also an easy song to get triple harmonies with. The song’s second verse has two easy harmony phrases, the chorus after verse 3 has an easy harmony phrase as well and there is also one phrase near the end of the song that’s possible to hit (it’s a little more difficult to hit than the other three but doable). After the song break (just after “one, two, three, four”), there is a phrase “my blood runs cold” with 3 harmony parts in it. After the song that you have chosen has ended, if you have hit at least one triple awesome, the achievement will unlock.

Is This Just Fantasy? - Hit all triple awesomes in "Bohemian Rhapsody" on Medium or a higher difficulty. 25

*Please remember that vocal harmonies can ONLY be done locally. You CANNOT complete vocal harmonies with other players online*

For this achievement, you WILL need 3 microphones. There are a total of 32 triple harmony phrases that must be sung perfectly in one single run of "Bohemian Rhapsody." If you miss any triple harmony phrases, you must restart the song to unlock the achievement. If you have two friends, you can assign each of them to sing a harmony part for this song. If you want to try this solo, you can sync up the two extra microphones with a vocal recording of the backing harmony parts and sing the lead vocals of the song. You can also use two sets of speakers for all three vocal parts.

Forum posters Shelton and RyRobo have been generous enough to share their vocal recordings that were created for this song so that everyone can get this achievement. Check the YouTube video below and click the annotation link for the Version 2 video (try to use external speakers for this if possible--be sure not to put the speakers too close to each other):

This video is a recording that will sing the Yellow and Brown vocal tracks. For the Blue vocal track, download this file below:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BX644FQT

You can either play that file on another computer or on a CD/mp3 speaker. Place a microphone in front of each speaker and sync the Blue track up with the song by pausing just after the fourth cymbal count (1*2*3*4). Depending on the speed of your stereo/computer, you may have to pause on the first second of the first note's sound. You will play the Blue track at this spot with the VERY beginning of the Youtube video so that all three vocal parts can be synced together.

When you select "Bohemian Rhapsody," be sure to select HARMONIES and Medium difficulty. Play both vocal recordings when you reach the beginning of first phrase of the song. This may take a few tries to master for some, but it should not be a problem once you get the hang of it. When you get to the phrase "Doesn't really matter to me" just after "Any way the wind blows" in the Intro A section of the song, you will have to sing the Blue vocal part (the recording will not register completely to achieve an AWESOME rating).

Once that is done, just sit back and let the song play. If you have any issues with a random phrase not getting a triple harmony, try playing the song again until you get the achievement.

Vocals Showmanship - Deploy overdrive four times in a single song as a vocalist. 10

This achievement is very easy to unlock. Play any song on vocals and use your overdrive four times before the song ends. For most players, this achievement will naturally unlock while playing vocals.

This can also be unlocked while singing harmonies. *See “Triple Awesome”*

Tambourine Master - Hit 100% of the notes in a percussion section. 10

Percussion notes are the round notes that scroll by on-screen during certain sections of select songs. The easiest song to get this achievement in would be “Charlene (I’m Right Behind You).” Hit all of the percussion notes near the end of the song by either tapping your microphone with the notes you see on-screen or by pressing the button on your Xbox controller. The achievement will unlock after the song is finished. This can be completed on any difficulty.

Vocal Virtuoso - Earn an Awesome rating on at least 90% of the phrases in 6 songs on Hard Vocals. 15

Choose 6 songs that you are familiar with and get at least a 90% score. This can be unlocked by playing exported songs, downloaded songs or Rock Band 3 disc songs. This will also unlock if you play 6 songs on Expert difficulty.

Vocal Apprentice - 5 Star on Easy Vocals (or 3 Star on a higher difficulty) any 25 Rock Band 3 songs. 20

This is very simple. 5-star any 25 songs Rock Band 3 disc songs on Easy difficulty or 3+ star on Medium, Hard or Expert. The achievement will unlock once you complete the 25th song.

The Endless Setlist III - Successfully complete "The Endless Setlist III!" 50

Unlike previous iterations of Rock Band, the Endless Setlist is available from the very beginning. To access this setlist, from the main menu: Career> My Goals>Rock Band>Epic Rock Band 3. It will be the second square in the row. This is one setlist of all 83 on-disc songs. There is no “Bladder of Steel Award” in Rock Band 3, so you will not be penalized for pausing the game. The setlist must be completed in its entirety in one sitting. If you choose to quit out to the main menu or the Xbox dashboard, the entire setlist must be restarted from the beginning. It will take 6 and a half to 7 hours to complete all 83 songs.

*This achievement can be unlocked with No-fail mode enabled. This can ONLY be unlocked from the Goals menu and Endless Setlist CANNOT be completed over Xbox Live*

Downloader - Play a downloaded song. 20
*See “The Perfect Drug”*

Mercurial Vocalist - Earn 5 stars on Vocals on a downloaded Queen song. 30
*See “The Perfect Drug”*

Live Free or Die - Beat all of the free downloadable songs for Rock Band. 25

Lasso has a drum roll mechanic in it too, I believe its Chorus 1.

Now, off the record, as a big fan of Rock Band 3 -- Make sure this guide is DAMN good. So sick of seeing games I love being given disappointing guides by people who only care about getting their name on it. Don't do that to me.

Pro Keyboardist - Do INXS's "Need you tonight" It's the same 3 notes about 20 or so times. Also "Whip It" is pretty easy except it scrolls and "Before I Forget" is pretty easy and never scrolls sideways.

I'm offically finished...for now (everything that I typed earlier ). When I went through the drums songs, I stopped in the F-section, so I have a LONG way to go. Thank you for the Lasso mention. I LOVE that song. I'll be sure to add it to the list along with the practice section once I get to the L-songs.

And I am the LAST person looking for recognition. lol. A good amount of people got this game early, so I thought a guide was going up before Tuesday. I wrote out a lot of the above just playing in case someone didn't already have the info here. So when we hit Tuesday night yesterday, and a guide still wasn't up, I decided to make one. There are some really easy and fun achievements in here, but some of the descriptions might be big time wasters for players (I'm looking at you 200 note streak on "The Perfect Drug"). I'm hope all my descriptions are helpful to you guys.

I got my keyboard by UPS about an hour ago, so when I play later tonight I'll be sure to check those songs out on keys. Thanks.

Thanks for a great guide.

One thing, I'm not sure what's up with the Boston achievement, but I got 5 stars on Foreplay/Long Time on medium guitar and the achievement did not unlock. Maybe that song doesn't count?

Dave Grohl isn't a member of Tenacious D, Garbage, or Nine Inch Nails but apparently the achievement still unlocks for those bands. Weird.

I think they just mean for bands he at one time or another played for.

I sang "Rock and Roll Band" on Expert vocals when I got the achievement, but "Foreplay/Long Time" WAS on the in-game list. That's why I included it. I tested "FP/LT" out on my offline account (medium vocals) and the "Just Another Band Out of Boston" achievement unlocked when the song was finished. So it DOES unlock when playing that song, but it might be vocals only. Try guitar on another Boston song. If it doesn't unlock, try singing one of the Boston songs. I'll have to double check this achievement with another offline account and update the guide if necessary.

heres something u may want to add for the "road map" portion.

for any multi-song challenges (like the 12 in a row), if u end song or quit out, it will save your progress for completed songs.

for example, i was doing one of the 12 song expert challenges, i quit after completing the first song of the 12, and i still had a checkmark beside the song for that challenge.

so, even tho it says unsaved progress will be lost yadda yadda yadda, it really wont be, it will only credit songs completed to that point.

For "Bleeding fingers" I don't think you need to beat every solo in every single song, solos with more than one solo you're okay as long as you get 85% on one solo. So far my checklist has Free Bird and Been Caught Stealing checked when I didn't get 85% on every solo in that song but I got it on at least one. I'll let you know once I have the achievement for sure.

In "My Goals" I went to that goal and played Free Bird. It is as you said, it seems to count if you hit 85% on any solo. I definitely didn't get 85% on all of them and at the end it showed that I made progress on the goal. Also, I had the tick next to the song.

Great job on the guide TC. Keep up the good work.

*Btw, Free Bird has an absolute shitload of hammer-ons/pull-offs.

I wish I had posted when I saw it unlock, so I had a little more information, but here we go -

Does anyone know if you can unlock "Keys" achievements via Guitar?

After unlocking the Rock Band Master achievement (something about 5*'ing 50 RB3 songs on Medium, or 3*'ing them on a higher difficulty), it unlocked this "Keys on Guitar" thing. I didn't really read it too clearly, since most of the unlockables have been aesthetics, but that one is sticking out now.

When I pick songs now, I can choose Guitar - Bass - or *Keys*. I'm just wondering if this can be used to unlock achievements normally requiring the keyboard? Mind you, I haven't bothered to check / test / see if these are actually harder or more difficult than using the actual keyboard, but...

If this is viable / possible, I dunno... that could save tons of money for a lot of people? ((I really should be trying to test it myself before posing this theory, but all of the related achievements take time - about as much time as it took me to get to this point, even.))

I THINK I know what you're talking about...

I am aware of that (the game auto saves for challenges and quickplay setlists). I'm not sure if auto save also applies to Endless Setlist, since it didn't in past games. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

I'll let you know once I have the achievement for sure.
I had to drop down to Hard for "Been Caught Stealing" solo. That song is so tiring on Expert guitar. Oddly enough, I was able to do the bass chart on Expert without much trouble.

Great job on the guide TC. Keep up the good work.

*Btw, Free Bird has an absolute shitload of hammer-ons/pull-offs.
I could've sworn I played one song with 2 solos and it didn't give me the check when I 100% one of the two solos. I'll be sure to change that. Thanks guys. As for "Free Bird," I have no doubt that the outro solo has a ridiculous amount of HOPOs (I'm waiting to play that song last out of the 83). But I wanted to wait until I had some first-hand experience with it, just in case I needed to post a disclaimer--like "this song's last solo will be very challenging for most players" or something like that. Songs have to be finished for the HOPOs to count and the worst thing in the world would be failing out of a 9+ minute song at the very end of it.

And I'm not sure if you guys can believe this, but this is actually the first guide I've ever made. I've been checking this site for a few years now, so I have some idea of how descriptions are written out. But it honestly didn't look like anything of substance until I added the achievement pictures to all of them. There's still more info to be added...

The 350 keys note streak HAS to be done with a keyboard controller. But other than the Pro key achievements, if you already have keys for guitar unlocked or if you enable "All Instruments Mode" in the Start menu, you can play using a guitar to unlock keyboard achievements (like 5-star 25 songs on keys).

Playing keys in regular mode with a keyboard is basically like playing with the Rock Band solo guitar buttons...except the buttons are bigger. I honestly like playing keys parts more with the guitar in regular mode than with the keyboard. But I am warming up to the keyboard controller in Pro mode. I'm about one or two songs from hitting 50 out of 83 5-star scores. So if I get the on-screen message about keys on guitar once I unlock the "Rock Band Master" achievement, I'll be sure to make a note of it.

yeah, re-reading it now, i probably could have worded it better, but it seems you figured it out anyways. and i was in a rush to get to my friends place for a bit (for more RB3 obviously...)

for endless setlist, does it state in one sitting? it does for the Lego RB one, "complete all the songs in LRB in one sitting."
i would think that it does not auto-save for endless setlist, like you thought as well, becasue, again, the point is to do it in one sitting.

cuz i noticed there are other goals that simply state beat every song in such and such game, and thats just at some point you would unlock it.

Auto-saving and an achievement are not mutually exclusive. It can save as you go and still require you to do it in one setting to get the achievement.

You need to note that Fastest Feet and Drum Roll Please can only be unlocked on drums and not pro drums.

Also, Lasso has a drum roll.

may be a glitch but i unlocked the 350 note streak achievement while playing easy pro keys. i did a terrible job and definitely didn't get a 350 note streak but it popped anyway.

You might wanna make a note that dlc songs work for the HOPO-cidal maniac achievement. I'm gonna make a list of dlc/rb1&2 songs w/ lots of HOPOs that are relatively easy to milk:
My Name Is Jonas
Joker & the Thief
Laid to Rest
The Metal
Tribute
Feels Like the First Time (decent amount in the solo)
Cherub Rock
Wanted Dead or Alive

These are just a few ideas and as there are thousands of songs available, some songs might not be listed. I may update every now and then.

Looks good so far.

Llama by Phish has a few drum rolls in it. I don't know if they're exclusive to certain difficulties but I saw them on Expert Pro Drums.

I'm gonna sound like a dick but...why wouldn't they?

Anyway, for the Guitar Perfectionist achievement you stated that over-strumming would still net you the achievement and in the past Rock Band games that has been true, but this one is a little different because your "accuracy" must be 100%. It is possible to get 100% notes hit while having 99% accuracy because of an over-strum or two.

For "Triple Awesome", Rock Lobster is by far the easiest. I did it by myself, got a triple awesome after 5 seconds. The "ewwww" part is both orange and brown, so it is dead easy. Also, there are so many chances throughout the song, it would be hard not to get it...
