Think Pure with no stunts. Reflex is more "sporty" than this. This is an extreme sports racing game with insane environments you wouldn't ever actually race in, with most crashes actually would lead to instant death or critical condition injuries. In this game you just respawn though Respawn is forgiving as well, and in rare cases works in your favor.
Overall Game Rating: 8/10
This is a pretty fun game and enjoyable as a racing title. You can compare it to Pure but without the stunts. There are I think 14 tracks to race on, none which you can play in reverse. The difficulty depends on if you set it to easy/medium/hard modes.
Very good sound, specifically if you use 5.1 Surround Sound (I personally used 5.1 Triton headphones). Music is a plus though gets old pretty quickly. Would have been nice to be able to import your own music as an option.
They are pretty good. Things go very fast on screen but it's still managable to see. THe one drawback is when they use a mud effect where it goes on the screen making it pretty difficult to see and not a "fun effect" by all means. Just an annoyance as the spots it happens is after a jump. Otherwise framerate is very good!
Duration of Campaign: 6/10
10 Hours (depends on how many times you must restart races). It seemed to just keep going towards the end so it would have been better if they took out a few of the tournaments and made it more of a 6 hour.
You can get gold and there are a few types of races within the tournaments. Mutators can make it pretty fun, where you have unlimited boost.
You probably won't be going back for more after getting gold on all tournaments, which if playing on easy you'll get almost all in one shot. Multiplayer is dead. The only other thing to really do afterwards is beat developer times which can be somewhat time consuming depending on how good you are. I'd say you'll retry many many times!
While a lot of the achievements are well placed, (around 500 points worth), the rest are completely stupid. Beating the developer times is very annoying if you aren't excellent at the game. The "Boost Feats" can be found no where at all, not even on the internet hardly. The game puts way too much effort into multiplayer achievements, where there is no such online community and even very hard to boost. Some very bad achievement ideas, they obvously thought their game would be a big hit.
The one thing they were smart on was actually putting some in-game achievement tracking. You can go to the garage and see stats such as how many miles you need to get the achievement, and a bunch of other things. (though it doesn't tell you what boost feats you have done!).
Yes, there is multiplayer but at the same time there isn't. This game is dead even within a month of it coming out. It's pathetic, especially since they made it an online achievment heavy game. Boosting could be done, but even finding 1 person to boost with is difficult. The worst achievement is for beating 5 people higher skilled than you, making it almost impossible to get the achievement unless you can somehow manage to find 5 people to do it with. Hopefully when it releases for the rest of the world, it will have a few more people.
