Pacifism: Important Tip

After reading the guide in its entirety, and the first page of threads in this forum, I decided to pick up Geometry Wars on sale and go for it; I like challenges. I'm writing this because I feel like there's an important point being missed that could have saved me a lot of grief this morning:
Achievements aren't awarded in this game until the game over screen.
Pacifism is by no means the hardest achievement in this game, but I decided that I wanted to get it first, and it took me several tries to get those crucial last ten seconds. And then, because I'm retarded, it took me almost an hour more, because every time I died, whether I lasted a minute or not, I quit the game, since the achievement didn't pop right away. So, if you're a newcomer to the game, then you will hear an alert noise when you receive Pacifism, but the achievement will not pop until you've lost all three lives and reached the game over screen.
Maybe this is very basic, but I hope it's helpful to people who are just beginning this game like I am.
And I'd also like to add that this forum section is pathetic. There are almost twice as many posts from people who are angry at this game and have decided to quit as there are from people trying to help others. No one needs the negativity. This is a website dedicated to helping others get achievements, not discouraging people. One venting thread is enough.

This is a good point, definitely listen for the "achievement notification" noise. Easier than having to set a stopwatch/timer, you'll know you've got it when you hear a unique sound.
