Animated Achievement Tiles

I do not know if this has been discussed before, I searched and returned no results.

While playing Dead Space 2, the idea popped into my head, what would animated achievement tiles look like? Imagine the achievement in Dead Space 2 for stomping crawling enemies. Instead of a boot just there, why not show a necromorph crawling and then a boot come down and stomp it, and it plays over and over, obviously it would be tuned so that it doesn't become annoying to see over and over, such as only animated when you hover over it in your list of unlocked achievements. All going at once would get obnoxious.

So, thoughts? Vote and reply!

Im going to say no because it would most likely take longer to load and the dashboard seems sluggish enough as it is. Its a cool idea though.

The Achievements tiles on the 360 Dashboard are not even in true HD: you can see they're a bit blurry. It would be ugly to see blurry images being animated. And they already take a long time to load. The icons/tiles in the Zune Videos section (Video Library) are even worse.

Yes, it would be cool, but it would have to be for the next-gen console. What I want to seem more is animated gamerpics though.

I voted no, and let me tell you why.

It's an alright idea overall, but it wouldn't pose as much of a "cool thing" as everyone would think. It takes awhile to load all the pictures as it is, imagine if they were all moving? On top of that, in the end, it's just a picture. Now, an animated Gamer Pic, THAT would be awesome. Just sayin'.

Cool idea, but I'd rather they spend the time on making the game better then spending it on making 50 small animated pics that only few would enjoy. Also after you get an achievement, how many times do you go look at its pic?

Agree with others, nice idea but not until they could be sure it wouldn't slow down the loading etc.

Prefer static images - they look more like "medals".

If they were animated the screen would end up looking like a bunch of smilies jumping all over the place and make it seem "cheap".

If anything, I want the option to store game saves in the cloud. Microsoft offer SkyDrive storage - develop game saves using xml to plot the various info needed and it would be easy to store them online linked to your Live/MSN account for easy recovery to another XBox. They do not need to be available via a browser, just "backed up".

His idea was that only the one selected achievement would animate at a time, though I'm with you in in thinking it'd have an air of tackiness to it. That said, I rarely look at my achievements through the 360 in the first place so it wouldn't affect me much; if I'm ever checking what I have done, it's through the website (if they planned to animate them there as well then it's a hell no, it takes long enough to load on my connection as it is ).

I'll rather not have a feature like that, it will make the dashboard take ages to load, would be cool looking, just not handy.

Sounds like a cool idea, but I wonder how much it would bog the system down. The dashboard loads pretty slow already, and Xbox.com is the same. I imagine it would take even longer if this was done. If they found a way to do this without slowing things down further I'd say go for it.

It would look cool but I wouldn't want them because:

It would probably take forever to load.
It would probably glitch freeze all the time.
And people don't look at there achievements enough to care if they are animated or not...

Good idea yes but agreeing with a fair few comments above, it would slow down the already sluggish dashboard/tiles etc and probably nibble at the bandwidth as well.

Actually I really like the acheivement tiles as they are. As somebody above already said, they look kind of like medals... Wouldn't trade them for the cost of slowing down the dashboard.

Well Sony is going to allow PS+ subscribers to save their saves in "the cloud" in the next System Update.

Which will take me another 30 min to download. Goddamn it Sony fix that already!

OT: I would prefer more customization of the dashboard, plus animated themes, similar to what you can get on the PS3.

Oh and and get rid of that stupid personal and global gamerpicture thing that you have MS.

What do you dislike about it? I use it to show my avatar for this forum whilst my friends see a pic of Jake Gyllenhaal in Prince of Persia (an in-joke), I love the option!

Being able to save multiple pictures of your avatar would be nice as well, I want to use one of the new avatar backgrounds but it was pure luck that I managed to line up my current pic and I know I won't be able to recreate it haha.
