Red face Finally coming to Europe!

Quote:
In our interview with Cave-producer Makoto Asada here at the Tokyo Game Show, he told an exclusive visit to Eurogamer.se to their Xbox 360 exclusive shoot 'em up death miles will be released in Europe very early in 2011 ". This, together with Rising Star Games.

Death miles is a horizontal shooter game that was released in Japan for a year and a half years ago and has sold more than 50 000 copies. The game was released in the U.S. now in July, and now it's our turn to buy it in stores.

You can read our interview with Makoto Asada, Yukihiro Masaki and Jon Rodgers, where we talk about the iPhone, validation processes and the fans' hopes, later here on Eurogamer.

It's nice to see Rising Star Games give us these type of games, almost makes up for giving the UK a censored version of No More Heroes to be honest...but out of curiosity how hard is this game, I don't play these type of games much and I need to know what I'm getting into

Well, Deathsmiles is easier than Mushihimesama Futari or Espgaluda 2.

If you're a shmup fan, but not a shmup master, you'd better get Deathsmiles first instead of other Cave games IMO, it will be a perfect warm up

Really fun game once you get the hang of it, my only criticisms would be how repetitive it can get because of the bite-sized story mode that doesn't change except for the dialogue and I'm still not too comfortable about some of the the ways the characters are depicted in the pictures then it goes on to tell you that they're all under 18, (youngest being 11 and the oldest 17).

In one way it doesn't bother me since they're just animated characters in a game but then again it feels like the sort of stuff that if you searched for it online, it would be enough to get you noticed by the police.

Maybe I've been brainwashed a little too much by the whole current attitude of, "If you so much as glance at a child, you're a paedophile. No exceptions." but one of the end scenes of all these children almost naked sharing a bathroom felt decidedly dodgy. (Nevermind all the promo shots that were used before release and came on the 3rd disc. Hell, an advertisement for it was on Zavvi and folk in my class thought it was borderline hentai.)

I don't like the PAL version of the game. They change the achivement system and added Black Label into the original game.

Some achivements even disappear or get a change. That's stupid. Jap. version got 1250 GS with MBL and this one has 1000 with MBL.

Realy a PAL game for european gamers...grinding is no longer necessary anymore like crown/bullet/ending grinding in the japanese version.

The PAL version is the same as the Japanese one (in terms of gameplay), but the achievements list is the same as the NA version... Well doesn't matter, still a great game

Yea, thats not the point. It's a great game and people without jap. Xbox can play it. I miss only a few achivements

Especially the "Pervert" achivement, see the bathroom ending scene 10 times lol ;D maybe youth protection?!

I remember how i going crazy to get this, 10 times with the same chara...typical japanese.

I must admit that I was very surprised to see that ending in the PAL edition... it is a bit much, considering the age of them. Interesting how different cultures have a different approach. I seriously wonder how it got past our censors? I am far from a prude, and have been called messed up, but 12 year old girls? Even I think that it is a no go area.

Having said that, I could not help but smile at your description of the Pervert achievement.

You don't know many japanese games do you? Nearly every RPG/Adventure/Graphic Novel got such charakters.

The newest one, Hyperdimension Neptunia for PS 3 is full of young little girls nearly naked, suking ice or fight against each other with "milk" bottles. There is merchandising like stuff for the bedroom. If you make them wet, you see the girls nearly naked. And other strange stuff for nerds...

Oh, I understand that very well, which is why I commented on the cultural differences issue... what I meant is that I am susprised that it made it into the *PAL* release. There is not a problem if the girls are over age, but 12, in this country, would be greatly frowned upon, with nudity being involved. Do you see what I mean? I am aware that some of the stuff that the Japanese present truly push boundaries!

Yeah your'e right, but the ending is not that strange after all, the achivement is crazy enough and give you a "price" to see this ending 10 times. If somebody go crazy about that, he better not turn on the TV or go into the internet.
Maybe it would be better to change the age of the chara's to 18 in the PAL/US Version.

In Japan there was a subway/stalking raping game for PC which was disgusting and even get on the index in Japan. You follow young girls into the subway and rape them after you follow them to there home. Realy sick shit, but it was very long on the asia market...the culture is "crazy" that way.

In germany Death Smiles get a 12 age-youth symbol on the package. I think there many other games which are more strange like Neptunia which is released in the US realy soon.
