Why does everyone hate this?

The campaign was 4 player, and fun. The music was the best in the Halo series IMO. The Firefight was amazing, and MUCH better than Reach's, and there's always Theater. So what's wrong with it? Only bitch about it if you have a reason to dislike it.

I'm not sure why ODST doesn't get all the love either. I thought the game was great. Probably my favorite campaign of the whole series and the music was phenomenal too. The game set a great atmosphere and co-op was really fun. I liked the fact that you had to use a bit more strategy to get through the game.

I haven't played it much to really say if I like it. All I know is so far, I think the campaign game play is a little boring and drawn out. I've never gotten into fire fight because I have more fun going against other players than seeing how long I can withstand alien horde. Though, I do have to agree- the music is amazing.

To me, ODST isn't a crap game, but it is lacking something to make it amazing. Either way, its anyone's opinion really. I just live by, don't knock it until you try it. So I did, and wasn't extremely impressed.

I think it's a pretty fun game, it's just the frustration of trying to get all the achievements while playing in the horrendous lag. That's what I think. When I played it for the first time when it came out though, I had a blast. Blew through the Legendary campaign in about 6 hours.

People forget that online games used to be a luxury. They think that because ODST has no multiplayer, it's half of a game.

They forget there was a time when multiplayer console games were 'out there.'

Personally I just don't like it, I don't like the controls much, or the story. But I'm not a big halo fan.

I wouldn't call it an awful game, for what it is it's adequate. And for Halo fans I'm sure it's a good game.

Just not my personal taste.

i really liked the game, more than i thought i would. was a huge fan of halo since the beginning.

the one thing that made me like this game less is no matchmaking. you have to try your luck with finding people, and hopefully you dont get somone from out of U.S. the lag is a pain when playing a 4 person FF. almost a grind just to last 200k points

lol last FF i played we stopped after 50,000, returned to lobby so we could boot this guy from australia!! lmao then we started back up, nobody felt at all guilty was the best part. the whole game we were flaming him on why he made our "connection so shitty MATE!!!"

The storyline held absolutely no interest to me. I couldn't care less about these characters, and clearly they didn't care about our character either since they pretty much ignored him even though he did everything
Firefight lacked matchmaking and was extremely laggy. Even with friends who all live very close and so I tend to have great connections, we experience some terrible lag in firefight. It was also VERY repetitive

See my only complaints were that the campaign was way to short. The achievements were to easy compared to halo 3 or something like that. Cept for the vidmasters. Then also! It was just to easy. I beat it on legendary way to easily. I brought a friend to play it the first time and he was always suprised when a level was finished. Now that I think about it. It was way to short. But firefight was amazing. The story was good. I believe they just made it to quench the taste of all the halo fans. I enjoyed it personally.

The campaign was way too short. The story line is lacking greatly. The members of your ODST squad seem literally stupid sometimes. (as in the things they say are stupid) in the end of the campaign there is no feeling of accomplishment. your just leave. and the music sounded like music from a weird 80's porno hahah.

ODST is a great game. There are some weapons missing, the story might be missing a few pieces, firefight was endless, and you couldn't use a wraith unless you used an exploit, but other than that, ODST is a great experience overall.

My only real complaint with this game is the audio recording story. While it explains the AI, I could care less about the girl. The flashback sequences were a little annoying but necessary in order for you to have any other level besides the city.

The main problem with this game was that they billed it as a "full game" after initially calling it an expansion to Halo 3, and then failed to deliver enough content, especially compared to previous Halo games. The campaign was good but way too short. I loved Firefight, more than Reach's Firefight but it lacked matchmaking which made it difficult to find games in unless you had people to play with. It was also a very easy game, I thought playing on Legendary would be more difficult than Halo 3 but quickly found out that it was probably the easiest Halo game on Legendary.

It wasn't a bad game, it just wasn't up to the standard set by the first three Halo games (not including Halo Wars).

It wasn't awful, and doesn't deserve nearly the amount of hate it recieves. But the reason that the music really popped out was because you were walking inside of a big empty city with hardly any enemies and nothing to do but listen to the music. I do agree that the firefight was better than Reach's. It had a different, and better feel. The story was just filler, and the game should be thought of as such: filling in part of the story.

I didn't like the campaign because of the long travel times in Mombassa Street and the fact that I always get lost, also, I didn't like how dark the game was. However, Firefight is amazing, easily the best feature of the game.

Maybe you can check HERE and find some reasons why.

I haven't played it, although I would love to. I have the game. Just need a buddy or two.
I'm looking forward to it.

Why does everyone hate this? Maybe because the game is a piece of shit, wrapped in shit, then dipped in shit and finally lit on fire for good measure. i'm not going into details and wasting my time in the process - i already wasted enough time on this game as is. halo is the most overrated game series of all time - and if you're not into deathmatch and horde it is a total waste of time.

I didn't like the campaign, the firefight was okay (from what I played) but a little boring. The campaign was boring as well... infact, I think the whole game is boring and I'm not so much into the music but I LOVE Halo 3s music! I'm so happy that Halo: CE is coming out! I can't wait to play through that and listen to the music, take in the story. Hopefully they'll also bring out Halo 2

I loved ODST's campaign despite it's short length. I'm not a huge Halo fan, but I've played most of the games just because I appreciate the overall theme Bungie has going.

ODST had something I found the other games didn't. Atmosphere and a more human angle on the story. You're alone, wandering a dark city that's been occupied by The Covenant. You have no idea if your squadmates are alive, and all you can do is piece together the events of the past 6 hours, hoping to find some kind of direction. On top of that, after a few firefights, you kind of realize that you're not as tough as Master Chief. Your melee hits aren't as damaging, and of course, your health doesn't regenerate. You need to pick your fights in a different way.

And the music; Caught me off guard, especially with the lonely, blues sounding themes that play in the background as you wander the dim streets of war-torn New Mombasa. As a whole, ODST has the best music I've heard in a Halo game, and that's saying a lot. It just fits so well.

Oh yeah, and if you're getting lost in the city, use your map. Use the waypoints. It's not hard.

The game wasn't that bad i liked it. I especially like ODST firefight more better than the Halo Reach version, since everything was more harder to kill, especially those pesky brute chieftans, man those fucks take forever to kill by yourself lol

My biggest problem with the game was it's shortness. I really did enjoy the game and the characters, but when you can beat it on Legendary in a single sitting and get most of the achievements while doing it, it speaks loudly on how short it is.

That said, the campaign and gameplay was better than Halo 3, I loved firefight and doing the Deja Vu and Endure achievements. Music was great and loved that Alan Tudyk, Adam Baldwin and Nathan Fillion (all three were in the series Firefly together) did the voices of three of the ODSTs.

I think peoples main problem was that it didn't involve Master Chief. Same thing happened in MGS2. Same basic game as MGS1, but people hated it because they played as Raiden.
