Trick to drifting

I'm new to NFS. Never played one before in my life and I'm struggling to drift efficiently I think. the AI will almost always overtake me on corners and I feel that if I could drift a little better the time trials might be a little easier as I think I lose way too much time on corners. What I would like is a few pointers if anyone can help.

I've tried allsorts of things, holding down the gas, letting go, esay on it, full on it. Don't know where I'm going wrong.

Any advice would be truley appreciated. Thanks

Use the blue x button when you want to start the drift. Start the turn outside, turn such that you are on the inside on the apex and slide back to the outside on the exit.

I am not good at drifting or even driving, so don't make me out to be an expert or anything. I find that I need to adjust my drift by varying my gas (power), steering, and sometimes even hit x again.

You can play with the x button to figure out how to take specific turns and even u-turn for the interceptor events.

I never use the handbrake and have had very little trouble getting golds on everything (I still have ten events left in the Racer Career though). I think using the left trigger/brake is much easier to control a drift than using the handbrake.

The handbrake is very powerful, and at the start i thought it was useless as i would just end up doing a 180 and stopping. The key is to just tap it. If you need a sharper turn, tap it again.

Meh, I hear you, but I got 100% complete in the game, so it definitely isn't necessary (thank God).
