Much like Turok. I could NOT find a match at all. I rented it and tried.

I'm in that situation with AvP I want to just play for my last achievement of XP but not only did the matchmaking suck when the game was first out, nobody is even playing anymore.

I think with inevitabilities of server closures, or just dead community, they need to impliment some rule for achievements that require online play to auto unlock or something after they are no longer attainable. Maybe have developers required to alter them to single player or something if servers close so people can still attain full completion.

With so many people into achievements you would think there would be more strict rules involving glitches and unobtainable. I know people so into full completion that they have started new accounts because of Pro Street and UFC 09 glitched/unobtainable achievements.

I don't really game online much. Only during xtival or whenever it is free.
So I hate multiplayer achievements 'cause they rob me of my 1000/1000.

I hate games where nobody plays the multiplayer and then I have to go around asking people to boost.

I really like multiplayer achievements but in saying that I won't buy a game if the campaign completely sucks.. if thats the case then I'm not going to try the game. I do feel multiplayer achievements are kinda fun depending on the game. Sometimes they can be rather annoying

On the whole i prefer not to have MP achievements , but if you do have to have them , make them different and fun , not x amount of kills, be no1 on the scoreboard , etc..

i have to say without becouse you dont have to relay on perfect circumstances during multiplayer matches and that you dont need gold service to attempt online achievements.

I think multi-player achievements are great if they're meant to get you into the multi-player mode - just give you a reason to try it out. Multi-player achievements that require you to some kind of ridiculous b.s. are annoying.

Without... they usually consist of capturing an amount of flags in CTF games or stuff like that, gamemodes I never play... and like u said, with older games (like The Darkness, Army of two,...) it's sometimes impossible to get the online chievos cuz no one plays the game anymore

I would totally agree as long as your friends don't try to be total assholes and screw it up for you. I have had that happen a few times. It is more fun with online achievements if it works out.

I think multiplayer achievements are fine as long as they're done right... no bs such as get 1000 kills with "x" weapon or win "x" matches in a row, etc. Then they can be fun.
Currently boosting:
F1 2011 (PC) COD: Black Ops 2 (Tower of Babble)

Without - my Xbox is normally in offline mode, so I can't really obtain them.

Won't you scream my name for the first time, the last time?

Without any at all.
Most games just dont need a tacked on multiplayer mode so adding achievements to a game that will have little to no community in a few months time is wasteful. Plus, servers close and then you are screwed out of the multiplayer component anyway. I like knowing that if I pick up a game on release, or two years later, I can still get the full 1k.

Some games have no right having MP the begin with & then they add MP achievements that just blows especially when the MP achievements are ridiculous to get. I unfortunately am a achievement whore when I play a game I have to get a least half the points so default games 500/1000 & I really hate it when I have to play MP or on the hardest diffaculty just to get a decent score.

Without MP. Reasons? I don't have Gold; b) some games add it simply because it's cool and commercially viable, and not really necessary; b) I'm an achievement whore, and I like doing things myself. :P

But generally, when I get Gold, I'll stop worrying about these things - right now, I'm really into buying 100% offline games, and that's one of the main parameters I take into consideration when I go "game shopping".

it depends for example some are easy like BC2's play 15 minutes online
however some are now impossible like armored core for answer's get 10,000 kills online :/ No one plays that anymore including me so its a yes and no but few games have only online achievements so it doesn't matter anyway but offline achievements can suck too. Completing black ops on veteran (that campaign sucked way to much to bother)

Without. I've been playing games single player for the last nearly 20 years so suddenly having to play online is a big change for me. (I just got my 360 less than a year ago). Also, I'm like the OP in that I get games long after their original release for the most part. If I own a game that is less than a year old, it's usually because it was given to me or I found it really cheap used.

Retail >1000: Fable II 1350/1350; Borderlands 1750/1750
Borderlands II 1375/1375

Retail 1000/1000: Dante's Inferno; Viva Pinata; Fable III
Arcade 200/200: Harm's Way; Hexic HD; Doritos Crash Course; A World of Keflings; The Maw 250/250; ilomilo 250/250

I prefer them without MP achievements. Some are ok, like if you can do them in private matches. The ones I really don't like are one that you have to be lucky to get or boost. Kill 2 people with the Spartan laser in Halo 3 was one. The Dollcatcher achievement in Fable 2 is another type I don't like. I don't like having to depend on finding other players who have what I need.

I prefer without, because it means that everyone can get all of them, rather than cutting people who don't have Live out of being able to get 100%.

Without. As many have pointed out when there is no online activity for a game, completion is impossible. Try finishing Call of Duty 3, Dark Sector, or The Darkness. Actually a more recent game, Bioshock 2, the multiplayer just didn't take hold and not enough people play it now. The biggest reason I hate multiplayer achievements is usually the achievement encourages the gamer to do absolutely nothing with their lives and only play the game. I mean it's bad enough I have become achievement addicted at my age, I definitely don't need a game trying to make me play for 1000 hours (sort of an exaggeration) to achieve completion. I just have way too many games that require online play for achievements. If a game is going to force me to be online for some achievements I would rather have it be like Brothers in Arms where the online achieves were worth 0 points. Then at least I could get the 1000 or whatever offline and feel pretty good about it.

Most certainly offline achievements. I'm not to keen on multiplayer achievements, unless it's a game I'm going to be playing a lot.
