tips for character development on HARD

part one. beat the game once on easy with Recruit bg.
part two start hard with Veteran BG

until given choice of specialization spend points pretty much whichever way you enjoy playing.

Once specialization is unlocked select:

Stealth - obvious reasons. mostly for skill Shadow Operative. With Shadow Operative and brilliance to recharge it any tough room becomes dead in seconds.

Pistol - you maybe asking yourself... wtf is this guy thinking... but Pistol is the key to my ez mode boss fights strategy maxed out pistol skill enables you to freeze game for 30 seconds letting your endurance recharge and also giving you ample time to do the following. After runing up nice and close to the boss or waiting for them to come to melee (every boss in AP knows kungfu) leisurely enable the skill and aim at the eye sockets. If one use of the pistol skill Chain Shot doesnt kill them outright use Brilliance and try again. No boss has survived 2 consecutive Chain shots from what I remember.

Technical aptitude - free endurance, weapon damage and skill brilliance

for equipment save 150k asap buy advanced stealth armor after that shop for a good pistol. mostly you want as high damage as possible since you will be using Chain Shot. All of free cash spend on EMPs and EMP upgrades. Trust me you do not want to waste your time lockpicking/hacking on hard. Its not worth it.

To get extra cash send all available intelligence for sale to Halabech for 15k per reward.

Oh on closing note I found a really sweet start for last boss. Doesn't matter who you fight. In last room kill all but 1 patsy while Shadow Operative. Walk up the only stairs and stop at the first pillar on the walkway. You should have clear view of the boss and his head. He shouldn't mind you till you start shooting either if you did this right. Once there position yourself so that you are mostly in good cover of the pillar but still able to do a head shot with pistol. Select tranquilizer rounds since they do bleed damage and start head shooting. Dont even have to use chain shot. Use it only if you see last guard interfering since boss shouldn't do much if any damage to you in this position

kudos

PS: reloading check point recharges skill timers.

Looks pretty solid to me. I'll give this a go after I do my recruit run. Thanks for putting this together.

Pistol is important for more than just chain shot, although that's amazing in boss battles. The ability to shoot people in the face from behind cover (you have to unlock the 'improved pistol critical hit' first) was invaluable for me in maintaining stealth.

so I guess a good "side weapon" would be assault rifle. No way can you function only with a pistol. at least not in the earlier stages.

Personally, i chose to specialize in toughness, you really need all the health you can get in the final mission.

Toughness is a much better specialisation than Aptitude. The high end perks are much much better (Hard to Kill, Resilience, Iron Will).

When you start the veteran playthrough you can remove the ranks from the guns, and sabotage (unless you're uncomfortably slow with lock picking / bypassing keypads) and add them to stealth, pistols, toughness, aptitude, and martial arts. By end game you will have those five skills maxed. Martial arts is extremely helpful, despite the roadmap not saying so.

If you're playing through with the roadmap, you have to give Scarlet the information on Halbech, so can't collect that $15k.

Your strategy for the last fight is massively overkill. All you need to do is move a bit closer to the pillar directly in front of you when the area loads, look around the right side of the pillar (with about a meter distance between you and the pillar, for safety from rockets), line up a critical on the boss, then fire. That'll take out the endurance, letting a single Chain shot get through 90% of their health. Two more lined up criticals from your spot will take them down, mission complete.

It's especially good for Brayko.

You can shoot him critical from cover in the head to wipe out his armour, if you time it right get another critical then put 6 chain shot bullets in his head and he's either dead or close to it.

I found Brayko the hardest boss in the game on my first runs, but on hard like that I walked him.

Stealth is very useful as stated. Shadow Operative levelled up means you can crouch-walk up to someone for an easy kill and other guards will come to that guard so you can get an easy kill or two. Plus, once it is levelled you can use it to turn invisible and wait to let your armour part of health regen. A life saver for me on a few moments.
