Achievement Guide and Roadmap

Overview:
- Estimated achievement difficulty: 8/10
- Offline: 11 (195 )
- Online: 1 (5) (3 easier done online)
- Approximate amount of time to 200 : 20-60 Hours (Heavily dependent on skill)
- Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 3* (1 SP, 1 MP, 1 SP-Hardcore)
- Number of missable achievements: 0 (Level select available)
- Glitched achievements: 0
- Do cheat codes disable achievements: (If you use the option "Cheat on the Game" it won't count towards the complete levels achievements. Can always retry that level though.)
- Does difficulty affect achievements? 1, Hardcore mode becomes available after finishing the game once.
- Unobtainable achievements: No
- Extra equipment needed: None
Avatar Awards: Yes, 4. (2 Girls, 2 Boys)
Other Awards: A theme and 2 gamerpictures are unlockable as well.
How to obtain: All awards are purchased by using tokens in the "Mall".

Introduction: Ms. Splosion Man is the sequel to 2009's Summer of Arcade game 'Splosion Man. It is a platformer in the vein of Mario games and other old school platformers. As such, it includes several references to other games, such as Super Mario World and even a very funny dig at Capcom. Ms. Splosion Man herself has some very funny popular culture dialogue, from movie quotes to singing songs Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Madonna and more!

1.- The Mall and Unlockables: In the main menu or through the game you will see a building/option labeled as "Mall". This is where you can spend the tokens you gain by playing Single and Multiplayer levels. You will need to finish the game in either single or multiplayer once to be able to unlock all of them.

2.- Multiplayer and achievements: Ms. Splosion Man comes with 3 different ways of playing multiplayer.
1) Online: As it's name implies, is the regular online method. Up to 4 players. (If you are looking for help check the Achievement Trading Thread)
2) Local: Can play with up to 4 different controllers in one console.
3) 2 Girls 1-Controller (2G1C): Yes, it does sound dirty! But this new method allows you to control 2 Ms. Splosion Men with one controller by using the Left and Right stick. You can technically get all achievements with just 1 controller, playing by yourself.

3.- Secret Exits and Secret Levels: Through normal gameplay you will find that sometimes when you clear a level, for example 1-7, the next available level would be 1-9. This is because level 1-7 has a different secret exit that will take you to 1-8. Levels with Secret Exits are easily identifiable by looking at the sign where the level number is: If it flashes with a ?, it means it has a secret exit.
Levels with Secret Exits:

1-7, 1-13, 2-6, 2-13, 3-9, 3-15

4.-Tips: While the controls and premise of Ms. Splosion Man are indeed simple, there are also certain "secret" abilities that can help you get through levels faster. You are never required to use these through the game, but if you are wondering how someone got such a fast time in a level. It's probably because of these:
1) "Fast-Wall-Recharge": When Ms. Splosion Man is sliding against a wall she will recharge her explosions after some time, due to the friction. However it is usually impossible to climb an entire wall just by doing this. There is however a way to do it! When you are sliding down, if you quickly push against and away of the wall by tilting the stick left and right, you will slide slower and will end up recharging faster. This is very hard to do!

2) Corner Boost 'Splode: Whenever you see a corner it is possible to jump to it and just as you are about to reach it, 'splode. This will launch you higher than a regular jump would. The same distance that you would get if 2 or more Ms. Splosion Men 'sploded together! This trick can let you get through many multiplayer obstacles with even one Ms! It does require very good timing though.

Hell Hath No Fury - 5G
Destroy 10 pieces of scenery.
-Easy enough, should be your first achievement. If you don't get it in the first level, you should get it at the very start of level 1-2.

What Did You Do, Ray? - 5G
Download and play against a ghost from a leaderboard entry.
-Another simple one. Just press while above a level and the leaderboards for that level will open. Select any of the options and choose to download, a "Ghost" of that player's gameplay will be downloaded. Now just start the level and the achievement will unlock. Don't even need to complete the level!

To The Conservatory! - 15G
Find a secret exit.
-There are many secret exits through the game, but not every level has one. The earliest you can get this is level 1-7. For a list of all secret exits and videos, please check the next post. Video: (credit goes to SaveandQuitvideos)

Found Star Road - 15G
Find Star Road.
-Just take the secret exit of 1-7, beat 1-8 and you will find it. Check the video above.

You'll Believe A Ms. Can Fly - 10G
Complete single player level 3-14 without touching the ground.
-Video (credit goes to MEDiSCiN & Gamefrontdotcom)

Sore Thumbs, Inflated Ego - 20G
Complete all of the single player levels.
-This includes secret levels! Check the next post for a guide on secret exits.

Credit Card Is Maxed - 20G
Buy all of the unlockables.
- You get this from buying all the art/audio/video/awards/misc. in the "Mall". You will need to complete the game once in either single or multiplayer for all of them to be available. You should gain enough tokens by clearing single and multiplayer, if not just replay some stages for the remaining collectibles.

The Golden Left Shoe Award - 25G
Collect all 47 pairs of shoes in single player mode.
-Shoes are found in every level (except boss levels).
Tip: If you can't find a shoe in a level, just download a replay where someone obtained the shoe and follow it! Click HERE for a guide.
(thanks to Detective Pilgrim)
A playlist being updated with the shoes can be found HERE (Credit goes to MrBr1zzo/bustedpad.com)

Helped A Lady Across The Street - 10G
Complete multiplayer level 2-14 without one of the players 'sploding.
-This can be done in Online, Local or 2G1C multiplayer. After you get used to the level this should be a bit easier, just make sure someone doesn't splode at all during the level, helping them get across obstacles by exploding on them and making them "jump". The achievement will unlock for everyone involved. Check the video for more help. (Credit goes to harry9397)

Score One For Team Awesome - 20G
Complete all of the multiplayer levels.
-This can be done in any combination of Online/Local/2G1C clears. Meaning you can do some levels online, some by yourself in 2G1C and some Local.

The Golden Right Shoe Award - 25G
Collect all 50 pairs of shoes in multiplayer mode.
-Can be found in any combination of Online/Local/2G1C. Check the videos
(credit goes to sammyboyxtmx)

Best Of The Best - 30G
Complete all of the single player levels in Hardcore mode.
-In theory you can do this as soon as you are done with single player, but this will most likely be your last achievement. Hardcore mode is no joke. The one difference from "Normal" to "Hardcore" is there are no checkpoints in the game. So you have to complete each level in one run, if you die for whatever reason you will have to start from the beginning!

Think I reserved one too many!

Anyway the basic guide is all done, as soon as I complete the game in it's entirety and know of more people who have I will update the difficulty and the hours. Although the difficulty is probably around 7-8!

More info on the Shoe Guide and Videos will be added as soon as they are available.

I hope you find this helpful!

Good looking guide so far

So, after a single playthrough you'll be able to afford all the themes, avatar awards, and gamerpics?

Yup. Haven't played online, almost at lvl 3 and I have almost everything already.

So it's definitly an achievement that will come on it's own.

Just as a heads up in your guide you accidentally put the minimum number of playthroughs at 2. There are 3 (single player regular, single player hardcore, and multiplayer)

You almost have everything after a single playthrough of single player? I have like half the stuff, and I've played about 70 multiplayer levels (most par, only a few with shoes) and 10 single player levels. I have 1,275 credits worth of stuff left to buy as of this moment, which is another 51 levels assuming 25 credits each (under par). I don't see how this could've been accomplished after one playthrough of worlds 1 and 2 o.O

What am I missing here? You would have 960 credits if you played worlds 1 and 2 and got under par AND shoes on every single level, including the secret ones.

Single Player + Multiplayer count as one though, They are different levels after all. If anything I guess it should be 1 and half

But on second though, I think it is better to elaborate on it so i edited it

Yea I hadn't seen the 10 pages of pictures :P, but still I'm not that far away now that I'm at 3-9. Just missing all those pages of concept art!

I think that not. The difficulty is almost the same, but the bosses are much easier. First of all, you have checkpoints at boss fight a for the second, the final boss is much more easier than the last boss in original Splosion Man.

The problem is not the actual singleplay, is hardcore mode. Some of the later levels you need to have a bit of luck and lots of precision to get things right. Sort of like shooting from cannons several times in perfect timing. If you screw
up at all, you will have to restart the long stage again.

But yea, for now I gave it the same number as the previous one. I 100% 'splosion man and I'm finding this one a bit harder as well.

It seems to me the shoes are a lot harder to get than the cakes were. I'm trying to get the shoes on 1-10 and am close to just giving up on it. I was wanted to 100% this one, but phew, that one is just a flat out pain in the ass. And it's only part of the first area.

Thanks for the guide. Great stuff. This game can be really hard at times. I don't remember the first one giving me this kind of hassle.

Yes, when you get to the part where you have to dodge a missile with cold air, it's the fifth checkpoint, I believe. Direct the missile to the switch platform under you, and the secret exit will be under there.

Ok I just finished getting all achievements besides Hardcore mode. I would say the game is definitely harder and longer than the first. I still think it's an 8, but some people might even agree with 9. The game is definitely longer than 20 hours though!

I'll be doing some rework on the roadmap to more clearly reflect the secret exits.

Also an Achievement Trading Thread would be very helpful!, can anyone make that or does a mod have to?

Is it just me or are the shoes quite a bit harder to find in singleplayer than in multiplayer? I never missed one pair in MP going through, except 1 cause we did the forbidden checkpoint to hear the song. Yet in singleplayer, it's taking me longer to find them.

Is "You'll believe a Ms. can fly" an automatic unlock on Hardcore mode, or can you still complete that level in one life whilst touching the ground? I was thinking I'd knock it out now if it's the latter, otherwise I'll just slowly work my way towards it.

You can't touch the floor no matter the difficulty. You can still touch the floor in hardcore, you need to have good timing with splosions to avoid touching the floor

So if a third controller is plugged in that just dies constantly while two people complete the level, does that count as long as the third controller / profile doesn't splode?

The person who doesn't splode has to survive. I actually don't know if that person has to beat the level, but just to be safe i'd say make that person finish it.

There's lots of spots you can land on regardless of checkpoints.
