I'm pretty sure Roathus is one that is unlocked after loading up a new game plus along with one other idol (forgot the name, 4th from the left on the bottom row).

I had the same issue, so for the cinders vigil, head into the pipe who knows where, then when you have around 8 or 9 waves left 3 carts spewing out squirts will spawn, let the squirts gather and let them have it with the bellows.

Help me for "The Masons" (Cael Hammer) Deal 70 damage with one blow to a single foe. I do -125 with my hammer 4/5 updated and nothing ! How do you do ? I don't understand why ? Please :'

EDIT : It's good i find ! You can do this this 3/5 update and Whiskey-Wolf bottle. Put 2x50% more damage and LT aptitude. Go to the Pipe, make your life down to that the Whiskey bottle is activated. On any wave keep just an enemy, hold LT to that the charge is maximum and kill him. And it's good !

For the vigil requiring one idol, use the idol that makes enemies resistant to physical attacks, and then bring the Fire Bellow and the Fang Repeater into the 1st dream. Both enemies are not considered physical weapons, making the idol useless.

If you have the abilities that allow you to continue 3 times, that return health when you kill an enemy, and that cause you to emit damage upon death, the Pike proving ground is obscenely easy. Do one slow runthrough to get a feel of where the switches are. When necessary, just let yourself die chasing a switch. Time pauses while you decide to keep going, and all the enemies inthe area are obliterated, so all obstacles are gone. Was about to do it in about 50 seconds with almost no effort.

Another Proving Ground that's obscenely easy with the right stuff; if you upgrade the Calamity Cannon fully and set it so that it seeks out enemies, you basically just need to fire the cannon in the general direction of the windbags until they're dead. They won't respawn until you stop, but you can kill them all long before they get remotely close to the pillar things you're protecting. It costs a lot to upgrade the weapon fully, though, so I can see why some people might want to avoid doing that. I didn't bother trying to finish all of these until new game+, so I had more money than I needed.

Great tip on the Pistols. That got me the last one I needed.

I did the Faith vigil on my first play through with Yudrig.
Bad guys hurt on physical contact.

I used a maxed pistol and war machette. I didn't die once and left with all but one health potion.

Oh, it was the kids story, the first one.

I don't know what's up with "The Menders", it seems everyone says something different... I know for a fact I tried for like 1 1/2 hours doing it with the enemy at 20% on all different types, melee and ranged and it DID NOT UNLOCK. I decided it must mean the player's health has to be at 20%, tried it ONCE, and got the vigil... The enemy was at 100% health too btw.


Vigils that don't carry over to New Game Plus:
(assuming you completed 100% of them in the first playthrough)


1. The Valediction
Construct a Memorial to Caelondia.
2. The Dynasty
Earn First Prize in seven Proving Grounds.
3. The Culture
Discover at least 15 mementos.
22. The Sanctuary
Build and upgrade all 6 buildings.

I completed all of them the first playthrough and these are the only ones that "reset" in New Game Plus, in case anyone wanted to know.

which is a good idol to activate for the Faith Vigil?

I'm pretty sure for the Menders Vigil your health has to be at 20% as that was how I got it after trying forever to do it when the enemy's health was that low.

Once you get to new game plus it really doesn't matter which you activate for it if you wanna wait to get that achievement. I had all of them activated and had no problems beating it a second time.

I used the idol that was recommended in the guide: Roathus. Adding to what em0rox said, you should wait until your second playthrough to complete this achievement. It's MUCH easier to get all the Vigils done the second time around, and all of the trips to Who Knows Where become much easier when you're a higher level with all the weapons maxed out.

I didn't even realize upgrades carried over to the proving grounds, since you pick up a new black version, so I always beat them as soon as I got the weapon and they were unlocked, no upgrades.

For the bull shield one, I was never hurt by the slime guy when I countered correctly, only if I wasn't watching my path and had crossed over where he had previously been, but luring him off the map is clever, I wouldn't have thought of that.

Em0, it is certainly yourself that needs to be under 20% health, I did it on a new enemy that had never been damaged.

This is wrong.

This is what it says:

"Pierce a foe with a thrust then quickly finish it with a throw"

What I believe this means is that you have to approach a foe, and press and hold the attack button, You will do the melee attack, then after a few seconds move into a throwing stance. Release the attack button and hit the same foe with the throw. (its how I got it)

Is there a good alternative place to get the 20 kills with Flame Bellows? I got first place in the proving grounds but apparently I was hit in the last section where I'm supposed to burn 20 without getting hit, and now I can't go back and retry :-(

Is one of the waves in one of the Who Knows Where levels usable?

Yup, I can confirm, to get the Mender's Vigil, the Kid has to be under 20% health, and then counter. Not the enemy under 20% health.

And yeah, the Hammer proving ground is a typo, it has to be 24 seconds or under, not 27.

The 7 proving ground wins was definitely the hardest for me. For the Fang Repeater, roll instead of run as that is faster. Also, the Flame weapon isn't on the list but I found it was MUCH easier than trying for 24 seconds in the Scrap Yard. For me to pass double pistols I needed to equip the Wherewhiskey in the Distillery then I got it first try.

I haven't found the calamity cannon yet is this missable? I'm pretty sure I'm close to the end, about to go rescue xia I think. The cc's vigil is the only one I need

I love how many people pointed out mistakes and you have yet to correct them. You should honestly read all of the Vigils over again and type them out exactly as they are written in the game. Cause you have wrote down wrong information for vigils on several occassions.

All you have to do is look at them and write it out as it says. Not that hard.
