finally i found someone who agrees with me! if you cant play good with the normal set of rules and no restrictions, and need to eliminate things such as claymores and rapid fire attachments (just using those as examples) then you arent good.
Doritos you say?
(Puts together a kick ass team for MLG tournies)
Is gaming a sport? Aren't sports considered "games?" And what about laser tag? So many questions... PARADOX!

Golf is 100% most definitely a sport. Golfers are athletes. There is much physical exertion in golf. There are a lot of people who have trouble walking 5 miles. Add 25 pounds to their back for 18 holes in whatever conditions that they are playing in. Not to mention they have to take golf shots during this whole process. Anyone can swing hard and hit the ball far. Where does their ball go? In to the woods, lake, or sand bunkers. You have to maintain a good consistent swing during an entire round. It takes extreme focus to read the break of greens.

Golf takes LOTS of practice to master. Why don't you take a look at what Tiger Woods has to do daily?

http://web.tigerwoods.com/fitness/tigerDailyRoutine

Golf certainly is a sport.

No, it is not a sport. Sports requires some kind of physical duress.

Sport:
an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.
2.
a particular form of this, especially in the out of doors.
3.
diversion; recreation; pleasant pastime.

Pretty obvious that the answer is NO. But it does share characteristics - like competitive gaming. When you play a sport you play to win, the same can be said for gaming

I believe gaming is a sport in some sort,

1. I work 40 hours a week and play with my 4 yr old daughter at the park.

2. Played Football, Baseball, ran Track, and competed in weight lifiting competition in High School and played Football in college. (Went to playoffs twice in Football, went to State and placed 5th in 4 by 1 track, went to State twice in weight lifting placing 4th both times.)

3. Not a noob. Mw2 K/D 2.05, Black Ops K/D 2.22 with 71% winning avg. Placed 5th in CoD XP Prequalifier #10.

So what do you have to say to that? Seriously?

If you say I suck at Football think again, I was 2nd Team All Bay Area running back, in one game I scored 6 TDs with over 300 rushing yards.

Taking drugs takes a physical toll on a person's body, but that's not a sport. My example may be extreme, but it's definitely true.

I play a lot of sports including football, baseball, basketball, and soccer.

I am very good at football and played in high school in 3 different positions.

I have a 2.0 kd in every CoD.

Overall, I don't think it's a sport in the conventional sense, but if NASCAR, poker, chess, etc. are sports, then without question gaming is a sport.

Just because you play sports and are good at both sports and gaming doesn't mean gaming is a sport.

I'd really like to know where you got that idea from.

Cool, then we can call it competitive hobby with money involved for the top 3 winners of a tournament.
All I know is that it's more physically demanding than Poker and the spelling bee

I'd say the spelling bee is more physically demanding. At least you have to stand up every now and then in a spelling bee.
