Disappointing.

Was excited for this game until playing it for the past few hours today.

Few things that are ruining the exp for me.

-Game crashes/freezes alot.
-Enemies don't vary enough and are way to easy to defeat.
-Ive come across the same voice actor for multiple people so far, and then 1 guy had 2 people do his voice, 1 for the intro to the character, once I completed his mission...he had a different voice actor...hilarious.
-Not enough weapon variety
-Broken co op
-The Island is too small
-Mission types are ridiculously stupid and make no sense, why do I need a truck to transport 2 boxes of juice? Wtf are 2 boxes of juice going to do for a lifeguard station full of people? lol.
Retrieve some stupid bitches teddy bear?! The island is overrun with the undead for fucks sake.

I hate this game lol. Glad I only rented it.

Lastly, not that I expected much from the below average developer in the first place but does nobody fucking playtest their games anymore before releasing them? There are so many issues with this game it feels like I am playing an alpha version.
First 13 hours of gameplay so far are just piss poor. I will give it more of a chance tomorrow but...yeah, I highly recommend RENTING this game before spending 60 dollars on it.

I guess I'm glad I didn't buy it after all... I was on the edge of whether or not to buy it. I've heard some good things about it and some not so good things about the game. A lot of people were looking forward to this game though. :/

Question Just enjoy it for its worth.

Honestly, you must have the cheap end of a game somehow. Mine has NEVER frozen on me once. I have found a multitude of weapons that are far from the norm in any other game. You have to actually get far and level up faster to make it more interesting. Just because you can't find different weapons or enjoy it for what it is (i.e using a truck to transport juice boxes instead of carrying the whole way as well as it being for a lighthouse full of people whereas other games such as dead rising you can leave people stranded for days without food or water...). Unlike you, some people do enjoy to play the games for what they were meant to be instead of nitpicking every little aspect just to bring it down. For the high ratings it got it must be worth the buy but honestly, just because you can't find the different weapons, enemies and so forth doesn't mean it isn't good. Plus, there are only so many people that work at a low end production facility, voices are known to be duplicated. Just get over it and play it for what it is worth instead of degrading stupid little aspects as mentioned...

I was hyped for this game, but it has been a complete disappointment for me. I wish I could get my money back. It is extremely repetitive, to the point of tear-inducing boredom. How many pieces of luggage must I interact with? All for duct tape and deodorant, really. Enemies are irritating, more so in co-op. Speaking of co-op; it blows when I do 99% of the damage to a thug, then someone else gets 90% of the exp for getting the final swing. Not to mention that enemies level to the highest level player. So I was at lvl 12, co-op partner at like 20, and I get to face lvl 21 thugs and crap which I can barely damage. My biggest gripe is that for a game about killing zombies any way you want, there are stupid limitations on weapons! I chose the gun-specialist, but there aren't any guns until level ten... then there is no ammo for them! I'm currently level 18 and I have yet to come across a single f***ing bullet. Weapons breaking in Far Cry 2 irritated me, and it still does. Also the controls feel sluggish, especially after coming off COD zombies! Oh and don't get me started on how only the host saves story progress.

All-in-all this is like the offspring of Left4Dead & Fallout... except you know, not as good as either of those series.

I wish I hadn't wasted $60 on this steaming pile of wasted potential.

Okay, rant over. Thanks for reading lol.

Thank you! I was going to post a reply like this but looks like you beat me to it. I've had no problems with this game at all I'm about 60% done with it and still want to continue playing.

I will have to admit though that the whole "here's a gun but we're going to make ammo extremely scarce" is a bit annoying to say the least.

wow! people sure do like to complain about nonsense. First off, the game is amazing!! put 14 hours in with some friends and loving every bit of the game. yes.. there are a few glitches/ pop ups ( every now and then) but will be fixed soon. It is probably the best zombie game on the market! Dead rising 2 was good, but had a weak story and became boring rather fast. Left For Dead 2.. not a bad game, but very repetitive and awful selection of weapons/ short story (if you can even call it a story). But saying its just like LFD2 is like saying a dog is the same thing as lobster.. makes no sense. only similarities is that they are both first person co-op games with zombies. Oh and i really like the RPG elements from Borderlands and Fallout (inventory & looting items). Overall amazing game, and you should give it a try before talking shit about it.

Being THE BIGGEST zombie nerd ever I have been awaiting this game for SOOO long, I never knew what to expect with this game It wasn't at all what I was expecting, but it is quite the gem. I have NO complaints whatsoever, no freezing, no bugs.. just some Coop XP bugs while playing with friends, but I cant put this game down. and whoever has complaints about repetition obviously never played borderlands or fallout before, its a quest based game set in a post apocalyptic zombie infestation... the missions seem creditable and likely. I'm loving every second of it!

You know, I really hate people on this forum sometimes. x360a used to be awesome and now it's full of fucking fan boys/girls that can't take their game taking a slight bit of abuse.

Get over yourself, babies. Your game isn't perfect and there's no need to kick off at a person because they don't like it. If you have to go mad about it, it means that deep down; you have a problem with it. If you loved it that much, you'd be fine hearing the abuse because you yourself love it.

Gackt raises valid points and sooner or later, you'll start to see them yourself.

Also, read his post; he's put 13 hours in to the game. That's over double the amount of times games take to finish nowadays. You can learn a lot about a game from the first 4 hours, so I'm pretty certain he's put time in to the game.

"Play a game for what it's worth" - One of the stupidest arguments ever. You may as well say "This game is shit. You know that, so play it for the piece of shit that it is". It doesn't work. A game should not be rubbish.

And these aren't stupid little niggles. A game should be polished, not broken and have variety to it. Without that, it's just a game crying out to the bargain bin to take it under its wing.

I've left this website before, I think I may do again. It's full of children who find it so difficult to keep their dummies in.

Anyway, thanks for the information Gackt, I think I'll leave this game until it's cheaper than a bag of chips. Which, going by it; won't be long. Sorry fan boys/girls.

While the game is enjoyable it is pretty disappointing. I was hoping for so much more and this game just scrapes the surface of greatness. Imagining the game with a more competent developer... THAT would be something.

(EVERYONE hated Deadly Premonition) It happens to be one of my favorite games EVER.. Yes there are bugs, YES its not a PERFECT game, but it is a great one.. theres not a PERFECT game... everyones different and I do respect everyones opionion if you hate it you hate it, theres no changing that fact. BUT you need to play a game for yourself to see if you like it or not

ok just reading through this and those complaining seem to be people who cant have their own way, and this isnt call of duty, its a mediocre studio trying to create a fun but authenticish bit of zomblie slaying, as for the juice n food runs, umm people need food, as for hardly any guns or ammo, isnt this a paradise resort, how often do you go abroad n go oooh look at all the guns on this beach, im sure when i go to butlins i rem seeing thousands of guns just laying about to be had, this is about melee action, i have some military experience n im pretty sure that majority of people who picked up a gun couldnt hit shit with it from a yard away. give the game a break on friday there is a patch for 72 fixes and theres more on the way.

Oh no, the horror! Please stay Callum, it would be so detrimental to the entire site if you left.

What really annoys me about any sort of a review, from a non-professional, is the fact that your un-trained opinion is completely meaningless. It's approximately as helpful as those 'OMG I love this song/OMG I hate this song' comments on YouTube.

People get paid to review games, not because they're lucky, but because they're good at it - everyone else is not. You don't try to represent your friends in a court of law, or try to perform surgery on your family, so why try and be a reviewer? Just put the microphone down, and leave your poorly worded, poorly constructed and poorly thought-out opinions to yourselves.

Nice 1st post King we are humans, we have different food tastes, we say some movies suck while others love them... the point of the matter is, that I wouldnt even trust a true game reviewer even if it was from a creditable source, just make your own review, if you don't like it you dont like it, Im not going to try and list reasons for you to try and like it, I cant change that... but It just makes me angry to see people follow opinions without actually trying it out for themselves....

I have to disagree with you on virtually every point you made.

I have not had a single glitch or freeze, and I've played around 20 hours, 15 or so co-op, 5 single. Except for the first 15 minutes, where we had a hard time getting in the same game for some reason, the game has been glitch free.

Second . . . I don't expect enemy variation in a zombie game. I fully expect hordes of zombies which are basically identical from a combat perspective. You get more than that here, with both slow AND running zombies, human enemies, and a variety of special infected ala Left 4 Dead. This game has more variation than I was wanted, if anything.

I suppose I haven't been listening closely, but I haven't heard repeating voice actors. And even so, this is fairly common. I recently played through Mass Effect 2 again, and I swear I heard 5-10 guys all voiced by the actor of Cat from Catdog. And that is a high budget game from a famous developer.

How is there not enough weapon variety? I suppose its true that most of the blunt and bladed objects function the same, but being able to put different mods on so many of the items gives several dozen variations on each weapon type.

There are some issues with co-op, namely that you basically need to be evenly matched level and quest wise with your partner, but aside from that, I've had no issues at all.

The island is huge. Calling the island small is just inaccurate. I have yet to fully explore Act 1's map, and I've spent 15 hours in it. Let alone the sprawling city of Act 2, and whatever comes in the later acts.

And on the subject of the quests . . . while I know some people hate fetch quests, they don't seem out of the question. If you hadn't noticed, Dead Island is very heavily parodying Westernized culture, down to the arrogant, self centered "my super sweet sixteen" girls who, even amidst a zombie apocalypse, can only think of their stupid material objects. Its unrealistic, but its makes sense because its mean to parody a material culture. And about the truck? You try hauling the juice back by hand. You can, you know. The truck was a suggestion. It would have made more sense if it was cans of food, but thats just a brain fart on their part in my opinion.

To be honest, while I can see issues with this game, I feel that all of your criticisms are unfounded, exaggerated, or in some cases, patently false.

Nice sarcasm, but I didn't say it because of that. I said it because this site is just becoming overrun with idiots who take everything bad about a game as a personal attack against themselves. Even the developers can take criticism of the game they spent many months working on.

I would like to thank you for taking your time to make your first post an attack.

Welcome to x360a, from the looks of things; you'll fit right in!
