Warp Collectibles (Grubs and Film Canisters)

About Guide: First off, this is pretty much not even needed. You get an upgrade early on that puts them all on a map. Second, there are many routes to go to get these and I probably didn't choose the fastest route. In fact, I know there are likely some places I screwed up the order on or something. It's sort of a tough guide to write. I suggest you rely on your own instincts, but if you'd like to try to go by the guide, let me know what I screwed up on and maybe I can fix it.

CONTAINMENT FACILITY


Grub 1/18: The first one in the game is not missable. You must get it to continue on.

Grub 2/18: After doing the memory puzzle after the first grub, grab this in the next room.

Grub 3/18: You will obtain your "warp" power and the maze you are in will raise and be all squares. Warp into the top-right most corner square for this.

Grub 4/18: After going on some pipes, you'll reach the first turret you see in the game. Next to it is a grub. Warp into it then warp out and quickly grab the grub.

Grub 5/18: After warping in the containers that are hanging by hooks, you'll end up on a conveyor belt in which you will warp away from and get to a checkpoint. Move to the right and warp past the fence. You'll see a door above which has caution tape on it. Warp through it and grab the grub on the wall.

Grub 6/18: Once you've gone through the tube that goes on for a while (through water), you'll come to the grub which is on a wall. You must warp to the room below and learn the new ability which lets you destroy objects you warp into. Now that you have this ability, you can destroy the container that is in the way.

Film Canister 1/5:
You will destroy a corpse and then kill a human walking around. Continue on but warp to the left when you have a fork. You will end up in the room with the red button. Warp to the room above and warp into the item in there to get your first canister.

Grub 7/18: You'll start seeing more humans and now have to kill them in order to continue on. After killing two standing guard by a door, you'll enter a room with a challenge on the left and 2 more guards on the right. The grub is easily spotted on the wall.

When you come back to this area....

Grub 8/18: After you get back to this area, move along south. Once you hit a save point, you'll keep heading south and look to the right of the screen. You'll have to time your warp to get the grub.

Grub 9/18: After the room where you had to warp the turret over the water to the platform, you'll see a grub on your left as you run by. Keep going and you should see the vent in the following room.

Grub 10/18: As you venture on south, you'll come to a "familiar" room. It's the test room you were in when the game first started. The South West part of the area has a grub.

Note: Also be sure to get back in and destroy the ball to gain a secret achievement.

Film Canister 3/5:
In the initial testing area you started in, now head to the North West corner and trade places with a scientist to get in the area you haven't been. In the bottom left of this area is the film canister.

Grub 11/18:
After the area mentioned above, continue up to a hallway the game will tell you about (if you don't go automatically). Warp into the room with the fully shielded moving turret (on left), and go through the vent in that room. When you come out, move up and warp through the door. You'll come to a room with moving lasers. Warp through them, go through the vent, and grab that grub.

Film Canister 3/5:
This is in the same room as the red lasers from above. Easily seen.

Grub 12/18: As you proceed, you'll end up in a room literally full of lasers. In the bottom right corner is the grub. Be careful! You have to use your echo power to switch places with containers.

Film Canister 4/5: As you go down the hallway South, there is a another hallway do your left. You likely had seen this canister but had no way to get to it. Echo over and get it now, though you may have to wait for someone to walk by.

Grub 13/18:
Continue South and you'll notice the area might be a little familiar. Use your new powers to get to the grub that was by the conveyor belt. It's just South of where you learned how to warp through the containers while there were turrets with red lasers.

Grub 14/18: Go back down the longer hall that had the two guards patrolling. Dispose of them and now you can warp yourself back to where the first vent was. This area has the containers in the claws and the pipes that you had to walk on. If you use the echo power, you can trade places with a container that is being lifted up. You will drop down to the grub.

When you come back to this area from Aquatic later...

Go all the way to the East and through the water tunnel pipe.

Grub 15/18: Go through the vent when you get to the area after the pipe on the East mentioned above. Now you can echo through and then warp to the grub in the bathroom.

Grub 16/18: Go to the far East section now and you can grab the really easy to warp to grub in the bathroom there. It's right after the checkpoint in a room with the two blue containers (well to the right of this room).

Grub 17/18: Continue on through the hallway with all of the barrels. Head to the right and grab the grub that's hanging on the wall in the destroyed lab that has rubble everywhere.

Film Canister 5/5: Head back to the barrels and echo one so that you can use it to get to the canister in the North room.

Grub 18/18: Now that you can echo to the turret, you may trade places and go through the tube. Once inside the next area, you'll be able to grab the grub.

How to get out of here quickest

Now head backwards to the destroyed lab. If you pull up your map you should see the down arrow picture with the slash through it. This means it's a one way. Go down it. You will wind up in the Laboratory. Now go up to the left-most elevator and continue to the Command Center.

LABORATORY

When you come back to this area....obtain them all this visit

Grub 1/18: After defeating the boss, you'll learn a new power. Use it to continue on, then once you go through the door on the right, keep going right. Be very careful bout the mines and you'll find the grub on the wall at the end (very dark in this area).

Grub 2/18: Once you find the challenge, get the map, and continue on, send an echo down an area to set off the mines. Quickly warp in to get the grub on the wall.

Film Canister 1/2: As you progress, you will come to a save point and a very dark room with three glowing alien pods. If go to the door to the North, you can send an echo up and switch places with a corpse in there. To the right top corner is the canister.

Grub 3/18: Head South from the canister. Warp through to the container, then warp to the orange pods. Do what warping it takes to land a canister where the pods are. Throw the pod to where the grub is and echo over the gap to it.

Grub 4/18: Once you use the container in the dark area below the door, continue to the next room. There will be a red laser up above. You will have to send an echo through to warp into a corpse then warp up and destroy the turret and grab the grub.

Grub 5 and 6/18: You'll get to a conveyor belt with lasers. Throw 2 containers with at least 1 being immune to the lasers. Echo over to the belt and make sure you get inside the immune one. Once you pass the lasers, use the power to hurl the container the way the belt leads. Now quickly echo to the grubs. Don't worry, once across you'll see the way back.

Film Canister 2/2:
This one is fairly tricky. You will be in a dark area with 3 glowing pods. Echo to the container over the gap. Now throw it upwards. Warp up to it from the part that's hanging over the gap. Now warp back the same way you started it, going to the respawning container. Now you must throw the container on the ledge to the left. Echo to where you threw it, and warp using the pods. When you go down you'll reach the hard to see canister.

Grub 7/18: This one is one of the tricky ones and you have to be quick. You'll come to a spot where you have to hurl an exploding thing over and edge and get lucky and have it blow up a generator. After you go down the door, you'll notice a gap with mines to the right. You have to throw the container in the room to the wall above and to the right. Then echo across the gap to set off the mines. Finally, throw the container over the gap, echo and switch places, and quickly warp to the right.

Grub 8/18: You'll find yourself in a pretty big room that is completely dark, and there are tons of mines everywhere. You can take it slow or with the right upgrades, rush to the lower right section and grab the grub.

Grub 9/18: Continue South after finally breaking the other guy out of the glass prison. When at the conveyor belt, you will need to echo to the bottom area and warp through to the other side. This is where the Grub is.

Grub 10/18: You'll see the 3 red lasers after the previous grub. Echo and trade places with a container, then do it again to the left to grab the grub on the pipes.

Grub 11 and 12/18: When you get to the room with the three switches that activates the cranes, go to the first one on the left in the room. Activate it, then jump in the container. Aim at the computer and warp on top of it. Now warp diagonal on top of the barrier guarding the grubs.

Grub 13 and 14/18: Just left a room and then South of the previous, echo into this room. Grab the grubs and quickly echo back up. This will cause less of a headache to get back.

Grub 15/18: Warp left an area from above after getting back to the room with switches. The room to the North has a grub. Echo the top container. Echo into the area behind the glass and stand right in front of the lasers (while they are off of course). Now echo and swap the immune container so it is in the way. Grab the grub and hopefully the lasers are blocked or you'll have to try again.

Grub 16/18: Go back down after grabbing last. Echo left and you'll get to an area with a crane and an explosive canister. The solution is to press the switch, jump in the explosive, throw explosive over barrier while in air, then echo left to it. You'll then get to a part where you can lower the water level. Once lowered, throw a bunch of the wooden objects down. Make a path, then go back up and raise the water level. The grub is South in case you hadn't guessed.

Grub 17/18: This one is actually really easy, you'll be faced with a bunch of lasers going from one wall to another, blocking both the grub and your path. Just keep throwing the immune canisters so that it gives you a path.

Grub 18/18:
Before going up the lift at the end, make sure you go to the left area and up. Destroy the turret and quickly grab the grub and run back to the turret again.

COMMAND CENTER

Grub 1/16: You'll find the Advanced Frag challenge. From that room, warp left. You'll see it on the force field.

Film Canister 1/7: Once you kill your first force field wielding enemy, go to the right and then up. You'll see it in the hallway.

Grub 2/16: A cutscene will happen with two scientists examining a glowing container. It will explode and they will die. Go into the area they are in then warp up a room.

Grub 3/16: While going for a power generator, you will have a turret on one side and you must have it blow the generator up for you. A very obvious grub is on a wall.

Grub 4/16: The door will open after you blow up the generators. Move up and you'll see the grub on the left right passed the said doors that were closed and needed to be opened. The room is a shielded guy with a regular guy across from him. The grub is on the left.

Film Canister 2/7: You'll see this one in the middle of 8 rooms. There are lasers guarding this hallway and you must get to the north side of the rooms and destroy the 2 generators to turn off the lasers.

Grub 5/16: You'll come to a door that won't open. You'll have to use and send the shadow helper to make the shielded enemy walk on the floor panel. After the door opens, run through it. Go up a room then right a room to grab the grub. You do not need to go through the vent.

Grub 6/17: After the boss battle, you'll have to warp through some moving red lasers. The next room up from those is the grub.

Film Canister 3/7: Go left and then down into the hall that has a vent after grabbing the above grub. Travel through the short vent and in the room it leads to, is the canister.

Grub 7/17: As you continue on, be sure to go more South and to the East to grab the grub which is easily warped to.

Film Canister 4/7: Follow the hall. You can go through a vent or kill the shielded enemy in order to get to the canister which is at the dead end.

Grub 8/17: Before going through the long hallway, you'll hit a save. Go upwards and throw a human into the blue looking lasers. Warp into it, then echo across to a turret. The grub is on the wall.


When you come back to this area....

Film Canister 5/7: After finding the last challenge, make your way North. You'll hit a save and then be in a room with a turret, conveyer belts, and a shielded enemy. After doing what you need to do, be sure to go through the vent in this room to get to the Film Canister.

Grub 9/16: You'll come across a room that has 4 mines that disable your powers, as well as a fully shielded enemy. Place an echo mine (if you upgraded) and dispose of him. Keep South until you unlock the door that blocks your main path. Once you go through, you'll see a vent entrance by the upgrade station which leads to a grub. This grub is on the middle section and you might not even see it. Just go there anyways and run around until you get it.

Grub 10/16: Right after the above, go back to the upgrade station. The area to the left has a grub on the column.

Film Canister 6/7: From above, go South down that same hallway and and to the right you'll see the film canister.

Grub 11/16: Shortly after above, you'll see this grub with a turret that is fully shielded. Send an echo in and throw a mine. Once the shield is down, echo again and grab the grub.

Grub 12/16: Pull up your map. The windy tube is your destination. Go all the way South and into it. Keep going South and you'll see the turret with a blue force field in the room as well. Echo to get the grub.

Grub 13/16: This was possibly a grub you tried for and died. Right from above, go to the upgrade station nearby and go through that vent. Throw the barrel so that you can echo back to it. Must be close to the edge. Now walk over the platforms which sink. Get extremely close to the ledge and you can echo back.

Time to head to the Aquatic Research Department to pick up grub 10 and 11. Head to the North elevator

Once you get all other grubs in the other areas, it's time to head back here and finish off the last 3 grubs and film canister, and then complete the game.

Grub 14/16: Now to continue the remaining part of your quest. Head all the way back to the West area. Throw the explosive barrel over the water gap when you get to that point and walk across the now raised walkway. You'll find yourself in a room with a center platform. Throw the barrels to the upwards panel then to the downwards panel to destroy them and raise the platforms. Stand on the left platform that raised and echo/swap the barrel. Now throw the barrel upwards and echo across the gap.

Film Canister 7/7: Time to get the last canister in the game! From the same area, continue on to the left. Echo and swap places with the generator. Now head into the vent below where you swapped. Head into one more vent, and destroy the canister for the achievement.
Grub 15/16: From above, continue into the next area and you'll see the grub glowing in the bathroom. Just warp over to it.

Grub 16/16: Final grub here for the main 4 areas of the game. This is right next to the getaway location which is at the end of the game basically. To get through, you must go to the right and get one of the generators. You will stop the conveyor belt when you get it. Shoot it through the lasers and then throw it into the control panel. Now you have easy access to get the grub.

Move on to the last section of the game, the Submarine. Here you will get your last 3 grubs.

Aquatic Research Department

Grub 1/11:
As soon as you get into the cafeteria, there will be a lot of humans around running for their lives. Go immediately to your left. Warp through and into the lower room. You'll see the grub on the cabinet.

Film Canister 1/2: After the above grub, continue up the hallway and this will be in the top left corner room.

Film Canister 2/2: At the far right of the map, you will run through a room with turrets that respawn and 2 shielded enemies. After disposing of them continue on. A hallway afterwards has a room with a grub and to the right is a very obvious film canister which is easily warped to.

Grub 2/11: On your way back to the cafeteria after learning the new skill that lets you trade places, go to the conveyor belt that went by the blue force fields. Jump into the explosive container and jump out. Now when it's about to go red, run on the switch. If timed right, it will explode by the generator and let you in to get the grub.

Grub 3/11: Still on your way back, you'll have to trade places with the human to get to a generator. It's on the wall there (you should have noticed this on your way).

Grub 4/11: After the cafeteria, you will come to a room that sounds an alarm and has spotlights. The alarm is upwards, so move there and destroy it. To the left of the alarm is a vent. Head through it and grab the grub.

Grub 5/11: Once through the hallway, you will come to lasers both pointing at containers. You should notice the 3 pipes next to eachother in the water. Warp to them, then warp behind the barrel above and easily grab the grub and continue on.

Grub 6/11: You'll have found a vent that lead to a challenge. Once you are in the following area coming back, you'll see this easy to warp to grub in the left center inside a small area with a switch in front of it that activates lasers.

Grub 7/11: Right from above, go to the next trap area to the right. This is a trap door with a switch in front of it. Grub is also inside.

Grub 8/11: Right after the above, head down to the bottom of this area to find the other.

Grub 9/11: Almost not missable, you will see this when you are trying to swap generators around to get a door open. It's near one of the generators and you would almost have to try "not" to get it, in order to miss it.

Film Canister 3/5: After the laser room, head south and to the left hall. Kill the guard and use an echo to trade places with the scientist. Now you can finally get that canister you saw earlier.

When you come back to this area....


Grub 10/11: Warp to the right room upon arrival. Go through the vent and grab the grub in the very bright pink/purple room.

Grub 11/11: This is quite the walk. You must now go to the very East side of the map. This is literally the most East pat of the map and up at top of the area. Warp do the room below the grub and echo the barrel into the same area as the grub. Throw the barrel through the force field then echo around and swap places.

Now head all the way back up to the North elevator to go to Containment Facility

Grub 1/3:
This grub is on top of a container. You must first move forward to trigger the scene before you can get to the generator to move on. Echo through the container and get the generator to swap to the circle area it is supposed to be on. What I was personally able to do, was get into the newly spawned generator and shot it upwards which put me on top of it. Then I was able to warp to the container. I do not know if this is how it was originally intended to be done.

Grub 2/3: Continue ahead from the lift and just warp through using the angles. Now you can warp into the barrel and then onto the grub in the middle of the ramp (then of course quickly warp and take care of the turrets). If you happen to die further on, check your map and make sure this one is still obtained. I had to backtrack to it after a death for some reason.

Grub 3/3: There will be a maze of lasers. Warp to each section that has a gap. Echo to the barrel and switch places. Now warp out, and switch places again so that the barrel is outside of the spawn point. Throw the barrel upwards to the gate so it blocks the last set of lasers. You can now warp safely. Once in the next section, warp quickly and kill the turret or by the real way of doing it, likely with the bomb. When you hit the save point, there's a tricky way to get the last grub. You can warp and go right between the crack/corner of the shield and laser. It might take several tries, but you should be able to get it eventually. I did not figure out the legit way to do it. You will gain your achievement once you carefully grab it.

Thanks for the great guide. Also wanted to let you know how I got the first collectible in STU-23. After you put the two cores in the generators the lift activates. Simply ride to the top and head south onto the platform. Warp onto the top of the container to grab it.

Thanks I will update that when I have the chance! So because you might be the only one who followed it, did you follow it from start to finish without any confusion? I just want to make sure it is accurate. Especially with the layout and backtracking.

In the Aquatic Research Department for grub 11/11 i have no clue how to get back to it. The way is blocked off and no way for me to warp anything because there is a water barrier and no barrels close enough on the other side.

Sorry, I didn't use the guide in it's entirety. I tried to only reference it when I couldn't figure how to get a grub.

In regards to one of the grubs, it's the one when you return to the containment facility and ou are walking on the pipes. You see a crane in the middle of the area that is taking away barrels, on that platform a grab exsists. How do you grab that one?

Right before you reach that water barrier there's a barrel (there are three laser beams from the conveyor belt that point to it). Echo that barrel into the small space between the door and the water barrier, and then kick the barrel through the barrier -- you'll need to aim it an angle or it'll go too far. Then go back into echo, walk around the barrier and swap places with barrel.

That should do it.

Does anyone know the exact 'point of no return' is? I'm just about to send bomb down the pipe to free the thing in the Lab but I don't think I can go back, or do you get to backtrack after freeing him?

You can still backtrack after you free him, but make sure that you get all the film reels and grubs in the lab before freeing him. There is no way to get back there once you do.

Darn, I just went ahead and done it and didn't check this thread beforehand, oops! hah. Another playthrough for me then! at least it's a good game ey? Can you get back to everywhere else then? I seem to be unable to get to either lift in the Lab.

The pathway to the right of the chamber the guide guy was locked in is lowered and covered in lasers and the room where you first start the lab (with the crushers) is non-traversable. I seem to be unable to backtrack :/. Am I the only one who thinks the backtracking in this game is really poorly designed? It seems you're meant to but can tech hang yourself by destroying a body or barrel.

I seem to have hit a hiccup when going for the same one. No human there I was trying to get the 'kill all humans' achievement at the same time. Pretty annoyed now.

CONTAINMENT FACILITY - Last part

You say after you get back from Aquatic Research Department. But how? I entered the lift in the north part and tried to go south. But in the room on the west (most west-ish room on the map) you can't go south, because a turret or barrel won't spawn, so you can't swap.

Now how the hell do I get back there. Those are the only pieces I need to collect before entering the final area :/

EDIT: So yeah, I'm fucked. Tried to go all the way back and are stuck on a room filled with water that you cannot get past if you try to go through it backwards.

Wooo, totally wasted like 3 hours collecting this shit and now I can do it ALL OVER again. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!

Is the room with water that you're stuck on, the E shaped one (on it's side) and the fully shielded guard? If so, then I'm afraid to get to the other side of it you have to go all the way back down and through the other levels. It should be do-able (I had to do it myself) but it takes a long time :-(

If you launch an explosive barrel into that gap it will take out the generator and bring down the shields allowing you to warp down the left hand corridor.

I'm with Burgon, I have no idea what you mean at the end of Command Center. The path to continue on is northwards, not south, and the lift's just one room away... Those three items are not there at that point in the game. I hope this doesn't screw up my attempt.

Edit: To not just complain, I'll contribute! For 15/18 in the Lab, you don't have to mess around with tricky warping. Just toss the container while the crane is lifting you.

Edit 2: Aaand I have to start over too, not because of the above but because I accidently missed one that was before one of the multiple points of no return. Collectables in a game like this needs to die, and someone at this developer needs to be slapped in the face once for every collectable.

Don't know if this has been posted or not but anyway

how to get the final grub the legit way

1) kick the turret out of position instead of killing it (optional but makes life easier)

2) Echo swap with a barrel above

3) go down and wait for the platform, then get on

4) while on wait till you can echo swap with the barrel, echo swap

5) jump in barrel, wait till reach far left, launch up

6) run up and all the way around and echo swap with the barrel which should be just in reach

7) go down swap with generator in centre

8)run up

9)done

There's no way to go south, so now I can't even collect all the film canisters! I'm finding it really hard to loathe the level design in this game now. For a game that focuses on backtracking because of collectables it should've been tested thoroughly.

EDIT: haha weird, on my desktop the pictures show as being the correct way up - but they're upside down for some reason, oh well.

Hey guys, sorry about not responding quickly. I had admitted this type of guide would be fairly difficult to write because at some points I had a map and others I didn't. Therefore I would have passed a grub you could have picked up from the get-go. I didn't want to make it confusing so I just mentioned when I got it.

As far as being stuck in locations, I did look at those pictures and it appears you can trade places with the barrel or turret. Is there something I'm missing that is further down on the screen that you can't get passed?

Trapdoor is answering questions every day and being constant about it. They seem to want to hear from everyone on the game. They are a good source if you'd like to point out specific locations that can't be back-tracked to. Maybe they can update and add a barrel or something

Baffled

Alright, I'm usually not one to follow guides unless I have myself completely stumped. And that is just where I am now with these final 3 grubs. I still have the last 6 grubs and 1 film container for the end, but there are 3 on Containment (I'm pretty sure it's 15, 16, 18) that I have no clue on how to reach now that I'm backtracking. Here's three dead ends to get back to the east side of the map where the three lie:

• In the laser maze room, it's sort of a one-way trip once you warp with that turret, unless someone can give me a tip on how to move it. For now, it's stuck being the target on pad 3 or 4, just before the turret's original location, so I can't control it to blast into the lasers.

• That good-for-nothing water-logged room with the full shield guy that has step pads to unlock the barrier and West door, but nothing to get past the East door, especially since I can't use powers. The soldier is still alive since I can't warp or frag him, only stun.

• The tube that connects the first part of Command Center from the Containment exit is now offline for whatever reason, so I can't hop a ride in that.

Everyone is dead except for the aforementioned soldier in water and one of the scientists just south of the laser maze. He never gets close enough to the west door though for me to warp him :/

So if anyone can give me some tips, I'm very willing to take suggestions.

I will see what I can do about posting some pictures to better explain my game's current setup of barrels and bodies :P

Alright, figured it out. Took a bit of ingenuity, as does any puzzle game. When the rules don't play fair, make new ones. For anyone else who is having a similar issue with backtracking because the turret is out of cycle after your first run through this section, follow these quick steps to reset it. Requires some pretty precise placement of your Echos.

Stand just above the middle pad, the one touching the giant blue power box thingamajigger.
Make sure, there's a barrel in place somewhere at this stage, cuz that's what you're going to use to get back there.
Echo and follow the pipe immediately to your right toward the top of the screen. There is a very, VERY slim space for your echo to sneak in the wall behind the two lasers. Go down through the gap before the 3rd (J-shaped laser,) cut across the splitting box, and then back up and down around the final laser to where your inactive turret should be.
Swap places, and then follow the path back to that pad, swapping with the 2nd pad barrel and the barrel that you left on the middle pad. Now it's just you and that pesky turret. BLOW IT TO SMITHEREENS and it will respawn on the right, so you can make another pass through.
