Achievement Guide

Overview:
-Estimated achievement difficulty: 3.5/10

-Approximate amount of time to 1000g: 8-12 Hours
-Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 1

So with that said, enjoy the guide, and here are the cheat codes you will want to use to make this game go by even quicker. If you prefer to not use the cheats no biggie, it’s still a quick game, but a few achievements will not be hard, but will obviously be harder than w/o cheats on. Reached Malefor's Lair 20 G

Complete the Floating Islands

See “Destroy Malefor” for description

Destroy Malefor 30 G

Complete Malefor's Lair

There are a total of 11 levels in Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. After competing each particular level, you will unlock the Achievement for that level. All of these Achievements are “story related” and cannot be missed.

Complete the game 130 G

Complete the game a 100%

To obtain this achievement you must do the following.

Complete every level: 11/11
Complete all Armor: Sets 18/18
Find all Elemental: Upgrades 20/20
Find all Health: Upgrades 20/20
Find all XP: Crystals 99/99
Defeat All Elite Enemies: 8/8

This will be your most time consuming part of the game. In the game, all of the collectables besides the Armor are represented by 3 large crystals clusters. Each type has a color associated with it, Elemental: Green, Health: Red and XP: Blue. The armor is represented by treasure chest’s that each contain a single piece of armor, either for Spyro or Cynder. The elite enemies are on various levels, and will first need to be attacked with a certain elemental power based on what color of “Head Armor” the enemy is wearing, after that use your most upgraded power. If using the cheat codes, these elite enemies are a joke, and won’t stand a chance.

Example: If Elite Enemy has a red colored “Head Armor” you will need to use Spyro’s Fire element to break the armor before a traditional attack/element will deal damage.

You can check your current Game/Level Progress one of the following ways. While playing the game, press the “Back” button on your Xbox 360 Controller. Then use the “RB or LB” to scroll through the different screens. On the Game Stats screen you can view your total game completion, and see what collectables you have so far, and on the Level Bonus screen you can view your current levels progress, and view how many total collectables there are in the current level you’re playing/how many you have collected. Other wise you can view what you have collected in each level from the “Chapter Select” screen, located off the main menu.

Please refer HERE to follow a walkthrough that will walk you through the entire game and get you every collectable. I followed this guide and got every collectable on every level on my first play through, and upon beating the final boss, unlock the Achievement.

Entrepreneur 50 G

Upgrade all your elements to Max Level

You can up upgrade your Elements, by accessing the “Pause Menu” and selecting “Elements” her you can use the XP Crystals you have collected to upgrade your elements.

OR, the easy way is enter the MAX XP Cheat, “DOES NOT DISABLE ACHIEVEMENTS” and then manually upgrade all Spyro’s, and Cynder’s Elements to max.

Max XP Cheat: From the Pause Menu; Hold Right Bumper and then with the left stick press UP, LEFT, LEFT, DOWN, UP

Buddy System 50 G

Complete the game with at least 90% of the time in 2 Players Mode

You must complete 90% of the game with two controllers. I however beat the game 100% with two controllers to avoid any potential errors. I recommend doing this as your last Achievement, as I did, and it only took me 2 Hours and 47 Minutes to beat the game for a second time. However you are more than welcome to play Co-op right off the bat and complete the game, although it may take more time to do all your collecting since Spyro and Cynder are attached by a magic “leash like device” and can’t get to far from each other.

One Large Step 15 G

Complete one Armor Set

See “Armory” for description

Armory 15 G

Complete all Armor Sets

A set consist of collecting three pieces of armor that all line up vertically when viewing the Armor Screen, accessed from the “Pause Menu”. Collect all 18/18 pieces of armor and you will have completed all six sets, three sets for each character.

Bodyguard 5 G

Bring the Artilleryman back to his catapult in less than 5 minutes

On the level “Dragon City” you will eventually be protecting a Catapult from Enemies, and Siege Towers. After a while of this, a scene will occur where an explosion happens, knocking the catapult “Artilleryman” out of the catapult seat. You then need to escort him back to his catapult; with cheat codes on this should take you no more than a minute or two at most. If playing with out cheats use Cynders Poison move with “RT”, this seems to be most effective on the enemies here.

Grublin Slayer 15 G

Kill 225 Grublins

See “Grublin Bane

Grublin Bane 20 G

Kill 450 Grublins

Grublins are the most common enemies, and these are also the first type of enemy you fight in the game, there are also winged versions of the grublins. If you don’t have enough kills after completing the game, you can revisit any of the chapter and farm your kills, then quit out/save, and repeat, until achievement unlocks.

Orc Slayer 15 G

Kill 100 Orcs

See “Orc Demolisher

Orc Demolisher 20 G

Kill 200 Orcs

Orcs are the large enemies, “not as large as the trolls though” that are frequent towards mid way through the game. If you don’t have the achievement after beating the game replay the level “Burned Lands” as there are many orcs on this level. Kill Orcs, Quit/Save, Repeat. Until unlocking the Achievement.

Last Rampart 5 G

Close Warfang Gate without dying once

At the end of the level “Dragon City” you will need to close a large gold colored door. To do this you must first kill all the enemies in the area, then to the right and left of the door on a platform, is a torch that need lighting, Use Spyros element Fire, then approach the door, and follow the on screen button prompts, after you close it once, the enemies will continue to attempt to open the door. After closing it the first time, stand in front of the middle of the door, and when the enemy opens the door slightly follow the button prompts. If you decide to use cheats this is a breeze.

Troll Slayer 10 G

Kill 10 Trolls

Trolls are very large enemies, and wield a club like hand. I only counted eight during the game, and if this is the case for you simply, replay “Burned Lands” and right before the level is over, there will be TWO Trolls you must kill to finish the level. Rinse and Repeat as needed until obtaining achievement.

Wyvern Slayer 5 G

Kill 45 Wyverns

Wyverns are the Dragon/Snake like creature and are introduced in level 3 “Valley of Avalar”, if you don’t have all the needed kill for the achievement, you can replay “Burned Lands” and near the flowing lava river, there are a few “Wyverns” that after killing will spawn over and over.

Dark Knight 10 G

Kill 70 Shadows

Shadows, are the small ghostly looking skeleton creatures, that appear through out the game, the first time you will see these enemies is on the level “Valley of Avalar”, there are more than enough of theses enemies in later levels to obtain this achievement, but if not “Ruins of Warfang” is a great level to replay to kill a lot more of these “Shadows”

Elitist 15 G

Upgrade one element to Max Level

See “Entrepreneur” for description

Dragon Spirit 25 G

Find all Elemental Upgrades

See “Complete the game” for description

Elite Destroyer 15 G

Kill all Elite Enemies

See “Complete the game” for description

Grappler 5 G

Perform 100 Enemy Grabs

Simply approach a ‘Grublin” and press the “B” button on your Xbox 360 Controller, to grab the enemy, repeat 99 more times.

Air Grappler 5 G

Perform 100 Enemy Air Grabs

While using Cynder’s “Shadow” element, in a group of Grublins, Press “RT” and hold it while moving around the Grublins, then release the “RT” and it will send them flying in the air and keep them suspended in the air for a few seconds. While the enemies are in the air pre “A” to jump and “B” while in the air to perform an enemy air grab. Repeat 99 more air grabs for achievement.

Juggler 10 G

Throw 200 Enemies into the Air

See “Air Grappler

Combo Maker 5 G

Perform a 70 hit Combo string

See “Button Smasher” for description

Combo Master 5 G

Perform a 125 hit Combo string

See “Button Smasher” for description

Button Smasher 10 G

Perform a 300 hit Combo string

This is easiest while using cheat codes, because with the “Infinite Health” cheat, the game doesn’t register the enemy hitting you and as long as there are enemies nearby keep attacking with Cynder’s Wind move using “RB” to create a Tornado like action, while doing this the enemies will spin around and rack up a seriously ridiculous combo very quick. The Orc’s are easiest to get this high of a combo on since they have allot of health. In fact I did this on a group of Orc’s and maxed the combo counter out at ‘999’.

Unattainable 10 G

Dodge all Golem attacks in Chamber of Retribution

This can be obtained on the first level. Either legitimately dodge the golem’s attacks, or use the ‘infinite health’ cheat, and even if getting hit by the golem’s attacks, the game doesn’t register it as a hit, since you don’t loose any health.

Dragon Heart 25 G

Find all Health Upgrades

See “Complete the game” for description

Berserker 5 G

Launch 20 Fury attacks

You build your furry meter up by killing/attacking enemies with your elements, there is a bar up at the top/middle of your screen, and once the bar is filled with the purple color, tap “X + Y” at the same time, continuously until entering Fury mode, when in fury mode you attack with a large blast of some sort “Purple Colored” element, this kills everything real quick.
Savior 5 G

Protect all the Cheetah's houses in the village

On the level “Valley of Avalar” the very first thing you do is protect the burning huts, that are being attacked by Grublins, then followed by Wyver’s, if using cheats this will possibly be the easiest 5 GS you have gotten. If not, simply use either Spyro or Cynder, and perform their most upgraded element, thus inflicting the most damage the quickest.

Master of Fire 5 G

Eliminate 75 Enemies with a Fire attack

This is an element that Spyro has, so simply kill 75 enemies with this element to unlock the achievement.

Master of Electricity 5 G

Eliminate 75 Enemies with an Electric attack

This is an element that Spyro has, so simply kill 75 enemies with this element to unlock the achievement

Master of Wind 5 G

Eliminate 75 Enemies with a Wind attack

This is an element that Cynder has, so simply kill 75 enemies with this element to unlock the achievement

Master of Poison 5 G

Eliminate 75 Enemies with a Poison attack

This is an element that Cynder has, so simply kill 75 enemies with this element to unlock the achievement

Master of Ice 5 G

Eliminate 75 Enemies with an Ice attack

Master of Fear 5 G

Eliminate 75 Enemies with a Fear attack

This is an element that Cynder has, so simply kill 75 enemies with this element to unlock the achievement

Executioner 10 G

Kill 625 Enemies

Simply kill the required enemies, and as long as you kill all the enemies on each level through out the game you will have this upon completing the final level.

Army Slayer 20 G

Kill 1000 Enemies

Simply Kill the require enemies to achieve this, unlike “Executioner” for this one you will have to go back and replay levels, I found “Burned Lands” to have the highest amount of killable enemies in the shortest amount of time. FYI, you can always check Spyros and Cynders kills, by pressing the “Back Button” on your Xbox 360 Controller. Also for this achievement, it’s the combined kill’s b/w Spyro and Cynder, not just Spyro’s.

Dragon Mind 25 G

Find all XP Crystals

See “Complete the game” for description

Unlocked Bonus 40 G

Unlocked all Bonus galleries

You will unlock this upon gaining the “Complete the game” achievement.

Golem Wrecker 30 G

Kill the Golem without dying once

Either do this legit, or you can use the “infinite health cheat” and as long as you complete all “Button Prompts” when they flash on your screen there is no way you can die.

Dragon Assassin 40 G

Kill Malefor without dying once

Either do this legit, or you can use the “infinite health cheat” and as long as you complete all “Button Prompts” when they flash on your screen there is no way you can die.

I have a tip for the end boss which wipes him out easily. It also builds up your fury meter really fast. Also the other boss.

Fly up close in Malefor's face using Cynder and keep using acid shots (RT) at him. After a bit your combo meter will sky rocket, the higher your combo is the faster your fury meter goes up progressively. He rarely get's chance to attack you by doing it this way - just make sure you keep close to him, the acid damage knocks him about quite a lot. You get some health off him after he gains so much damage. When fury is full unleash it on him. I managed to accumulate 4 fury charges this way on the last boss fight (second play through). Easy way to beat him without dieing.

For the other boss Golem (scaling the building). Their are safe spots where he can't touch you.

1) When you start out on the bottom floor run towards where his broken arm is near the wall. Stay away from this arm so he doesn't attack you. Then watch where is other hand lands. If you stand in the spot just before is main hand lands (so you are out of reach) You can stay in this spot and he will not attack. Run forwards a little bit and he will attack, attack his hand then run back to the safe spot.

2) Next level. At the part where the stairs go up on the right side. At the top of these stairs you are in a safe spot. Run onto the main dancefloor and he starts stompin. Run out then run back. Then beat on him until he goes down.

3) The next part is at the very top. The main battle I suppose. There is a sweet spot right at the far end just before the stairs. If you wait until he uses his Double handed attack. I tend to fly around here. Once it lands shockwaves come from it. Then quickly fly in. The shockwave is bigger at the bottom so it's easier to get damage on the floor. Fly quickly and hit him until you go to the button sequence part. Repeat this. Once he's been attacked on his head and you've opened the crystal in his head. He will have a new attack. When you see him spit up simply fly to the right hand side to avoid then fly back to the safe spot.

For the first boss, not getting touched can be quite hard. There is yet another safe spot. You see where his hand is gripping onto the side where the stairs go downwards. Stand right on the steps so you are in the area just below is hand and at the side. He can't touch you. Use a element to attack him at range. Shadow did the trick for me.

Excellent guide crusty!

My best advice is to keep trying, and make sure you are holding the correct "Bumper" for that cheat code. And also make sure your pressing the direction with the "LS" and not the D-Pad.

Tip: When entering the cheat code crank up your volume, so you can hear the wierd noise it makes after entering the cheat code in correctly.

I only have one achievement left which is the buddy system one and im not sure how it works, do i have to complete the game as in defeat malafor with 90% of the time in 2 player mode or do i have to get all the collectibles and complete the game to 90% while in two player mode?

Jedi, I think it means you need to finish the game. Being 90% of that playthrough is played in 2 player. I think they typed the description to that achievement wrong.

I wasn't too sure, I also collected all the items just to make sure it wasn't to 90% completion. Best to collect the stuff just in case.

Grats on the sticky

You only have to play the game w/ two controllers, you do not need to collect any collectable.

I used the cheats, and didnt collect ne thing, and when I finshed the game, I only had 33% completion, but the achievement of course unlocked.

so don't worry about collection while playing with two controllers.

How hard is it to do the coop by yourself?
Getting pretty close to the end of this shitty game, and want to make the coop a breeze afterwards.

And can I just use same save and then keep my armor to use the fury spell all the time?

LOL, I did it by myself, one person two controllers, and it took a little under three hours to complete. However there were a few realy annoying parts where you had to fly, or carry the orbs, but all in all its worth the anoyance for the last 50G towards your 1K...

Ah cool

I'm getting really annoyed on the 100 air grabs, won't unlock for me

Do I need to kill them in the air too?

For the 100 Hundred Air Grab achievement, use the strategy described w/in the achievement guide. I tried doing air grabs for two hours, and no achievement, then after figuring out the strategy mention in the guide, I unlocked it after rinse/repeat the strategy in 1st chapter for the fourth time. I did it on the non flying grublins, that way when using cynder's shadow move, after they go flying in the air just jump with "A" then press "B" to grab them, I'm not sure why it wasn’t unlocking the achievement when using spyro and grabbing the grublins that fly in the air, but w/e the cynder method 100% works so use that method...

As Shreik asked, is it possible to use tha same save for the Co-Op achievement? I mean just go and replay the chapters 1 by 1?
Or do you have to make an entire new game and go through from scratch?

Great Guide BTW!

Hi. Thanks a lot for the guide, really helped me out through the game so far.

By chance i just found a troll that will respawn everytime if you just fly away a little bit on the burned lands level at the part where theres a troll and a couple of orcs guarding the last piece of armor in the game (this makes more sense if you use the gamefaqs guide, which is awesome by the way)

So yeah you can basically kill him and then fly a little bit away and come back. It might be worth noting on the 'Kill 10 Trolls' achievement part of the guide since this way you don't have to replay any levels.

Master of Wind 5 G

Eliminate 75 Enemies with a Wind attack

This is an element that Cynder has, so simply kill 75 enemies with this element to unlock the achievement

Does this have to be the power used with the RT or can it be the alternate power with RB? I swear I have killed more than is required using both, but this won't pop.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PSonic use the RB attack, it's more effective unless you are on a level with black voids of death, then you can fling them in. Best level for quickness is using the hut attack level.

Also with the RB attack of this. It get's your combo meter up rather well. So it might be nice to tackle the 20 fury attacks along with this. The higher and longer you sustain the combo meter the faster the fury bar fills

Thanks so much for this, getting the game in the mail in a few days, and I'll be using this guide extensively. Not sure if I'll get that last co-op achievement, I don't know if I have the patience for that.

So what does it take for this to become the "official" guide on the game's achievement page?

Awesome guide. Just a few tips I'd throw in that helped me:
  • The starting part of the first level (where you fight two waves of Grublins before the golem shows up) is the best spot for getting a lot of the individual various attack achievements. Start up the level, beat the grublins until the golem shows up, then quit and save. Rinse & repeat for any of the "Master of ..." achievements, juggler, the 1000 kills achievement (if you don't have it after getting the others), etc.
  • For grappler: start this same area, and in the first group of 5 or so grublins, just keep grabbing one, then immediately hit B again to drop him. It's not 100 different enemies, just 100 grabs, so you can grab the same guy over and over again. I got the achievement in like 5 minutes in this opening area by basically mashing the B button.
  • For "Air Grappler" I found it easier to grab the little bug flying guys that appear in "Burned Lands" than to do it after throwing guys in the air.
  • For the 200 Orc kills, I think its better to do Attack of the Golem. You get attacked by 5 or 6 orcs at the start, so fire up the level, kill those 5 orcs then quit & save and rinse & repeat. Burned Lands is a fairly long level with only probably 10-15 orcs in it.

You know I was just thinking of something. The achievement says that you need to play the game with 2 players 90% of the time. As mentioned in the guide, the second runtrough only took 2 hours and 47 minutes. So since this achievement is time related, I wonder what happens when you let the game run overnight with 2 controllers active. Let's say you wake up the next morning and the game says that the playtime is 9 hours or so. You can then just turn it to 1 player and complete the game on your own in 2 hours. Does anyone think that will unlock the achievement? Cause I think I'm gonna try it out.

P.S.: I'm sorry if my english is a little crappy sometimes, I'm dutch
