Harder than you remember?

Damn, this game is way harder than I remember it being. I used to blow through this back when I was a kid... Or maybe I've gotten rusty over the years.

Lol, I always found Sonic 1 hard so there hasn't been anything new from what I can see on this version.

Actually I found this game to be easier than I thought. But I'm an old school Sonic fan and rocked all the Genesis games many times over. This was an easy 200 points (which I haven't got for an XBLA game before til this one.)

I'm the opposite way round.

I was awful at this game as a little boy, but I loved it nontheless. I play it now, and fell proud of myself. I can finally kick arse at this game without going into a childish temper because of a mechanical wasp that shoots out of it's stinger!

Jeez... Playing this has got me a craving for Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Sonic & Knuckles... I want them! Pity I lost my Sega Megadrive, also known as the Genesis in America.

Let's just hope they get released on the Marketplace. I doubt they will though, but I can hope.

i accidentally found a glitch. I rolled into a wall somewhere in marble whatever act 1 and sonic went through it at 1000 mph under all the lava. He then randomly bonged with his hands in the air like he does when you die on the spikes. ha.

glitch 1

I see I'm not the only one who finds it tougher. Must be the controller, it just doesn't feel right for the game.

I also thought I was the only one. But nonetheless the game is good. Just wish they'd release Sonic 2.

I don't know that it's harder but that the jumping is more touchy...it seems with the upgrade to Xbox360, Sonic has been working out and can jump higher then he used too...even when just tapping the button.

I thought the same thing; I'm almost sure it was that way on the original Sonic. Either way I was a lot better at the game when I could rev up that little blue bastard.

It actually seems about the same to me, well at least after I remembered the controls.

It seems no one has busted out the old sonic game to check the whole rev thing? I swear I spent my first 5 minutes of this game trying to figure out how to make him spin... haha.

Rev was introduced in Sonic 2, which was the first one I played. I played Sonic 1 later and always went "WTF!? Why can't he spin!?"

Agreed, you can't rev in the original Sonic, but they introduced that into Sonic 2, where they also introduced being able to get multiple emeralds in one stage via 50 coins and a checkpoint.

Everything was better in Sonic2. You could rev up, have tails, the levels were cooler, the boss fights were better, the special stages were fun as hell! (if i remember correctly was it the super pipe?? )

Wo0t! It took me a while but I finally beat it! :P

I remember Labyrinth being tough, but not as tough as I thought it was. I kept trying to kill Robotnik and dying, over and over having to reload my file. God, I was so pissed when I found out I could ignore him.

Can you beat Robotnik at that point?

This seems miles easie than when i played it over 10 years ago. Always remember as kid never ever being able to beat the final boss. Always died. However, have just had a quick run through and completed it. Well worth 3.25.

At least over the years I have become less evil, as I always used to have the desire to let sonic drown in the labyrinth zone - don't ask me why. It seemed fun back then.

Yeah, it was the super pipe...the game was awesome if you only played one or the other not both...don't know how many times I didn't get an emerald because of tails running into mines. Though it was super awesome if you had someone playing with you...then they could control tails...which made killing bosses so much easier especially since tails dying didn't lose any lives!

i really hope the bring Sonic The Hedgehog 2 out aswell becuase i really didnt like the first game of Sonic The Hedgehog becuase it was to short and to easy, Sonic The Hedgehog 2 was pretty fun it was alot bigger u had tails with you and u could play with 2 players if u wanted with that game plus dont forget there was a Splitscreen in Sonic The Hedgehog 2 where u could race eachother, and u could spin in the game ofcourse it was just alot better then the first game^^ i played it just not even an hour and got all my Achievements in this game thats how easy it was lol :P

The game's still pretty easy for me, though it did take me a while to get used to the controls. The analog stick is much more sensitive than the Genesis D-pad, so that has to be taken into account while jumping onto platforms etc.
