I know it's a bit silly, but when I was that age (around 7 or so) I got scared very easily.

Mortal Kombat. I'm guessing for anyone as old as me this will be most people's answer.

Silent Hill. One of the first games I had ever played, and it sucked me in. Fell in love with the series and the genre of horror. Love watching horror films and playing horror games now.

I think it was Doom on the SNES. Can't remember if that was rated. IF not then Mortal Kombat 1.

Grand Theft Auto (the original). My dad bought it for me at Best Buy, it had a Chevy Malibu on the cover and he thought it was a racing game.

Damn, that's wrong. LOL. It was Mortal Kombat (the original). If I remember correctly, that was the game that brought the "M" rating on. I could be wrong, but I know it was a big political deal.

Mortal Kombat came out in 1992 the ESRB didn't start rating games until 1994. The ESRB and several other ratings boards that were first attempted were largely in response to Mortal Kombat and a few other games like Doom and Lethal Enforcers.

Grand Theft Auto 3. I got it for Christmas when I was 10 or so. Still a good game. Better than GTA4.

I don't remember exactly what it was but I know it would have been a PS1 game, thinking back it was probably either Resident Evil 1 (I remember playing that and not even getting passed the first Zombie because I crapped myself), or one of the PS1 GTA games (GTA,GTA2,London).

My first rated M that I consistently played would have to be GTA 3

Officially that'd be Perfect Dark on the 64. However I played Doom before it but I don't remember if it had an actual rating or not. I can't seem to remember it having one.

I think it was GTA liberty city stories on the PSP during my freshmen year of highschool. I remember playing that game while looking for a house with my parents.

Dino Crisis for the PS1 - this was one of my favorite games as a child and it was also one of the hardest games I've ever played in my life

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory or Halo: Combat Evolved. I can't exactly remember which one, but it was definitely one of those two great games.

Been gaming for 30 years now, so does anyone know what the first "M" rated game was? I probably played it. Mortal Kombat was probably one of the first "M" rated games I would think, and I most definately played it.

I think mine would be Mortal Kombat as well. I was like, 6 when it came out and my friends brother had got it for his birthday. I remember begging my mom to get it, and she was against it. Though my dad later bought it secretly, haha
