Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - Who's playing it again?

With all the excitement about GTA V, I decided that now would be a great time to replay GTA: SA. I loaded up last night and was once again blown away by the sheer amount of things that I could do. Even though the game came out in 2004, not many games have come close to matching it in terms of activities and random stuff to lose yourself in;

~ I grabbed the BMX, rode it up to the "Bridge of Death" near Vinewood and rode into the road below.

~ I went to the airport, stole a plane and flew over the Mount Chilliad. I got out - with the 4 star Wanted level active - and the police were already up there to greet me. I proceeded to a stand-off with a can of Spray Paint. I lost.

~ Went to Grove Street, got my Camera and started walking around the neighbourhood, taking pictures in people's lounge windows. Decided to take a picture of a gang of Ballas and got a bullet for my troubles.

~ Popped in to Pro Laps, dressed in all my exercise gear and drove down to the beach gym. Started working out when a gang of Ballas strode by. Stabbed them all before continuing with the exercise bike.

~ Decided to walk around the streets, shooting anyone with flannel shirts on. There were many. I ran out of ammo.

~ Stalked a woman for a few miles, until she stepped in to an alley. She never came out.

~ Went to the club and started showing off my moves. People weren't impressed. A woman laughed at me. I had a Shotgun. They didn't.

~ Drove around in my low rider, showing off my hydraulics to women in the street. It all went wrong when I took a corner a little too fast and tried to move the right analogue stick to look around. Damn SA controls...

~ Went to the little country towns, listened to K Rose, shot a few deer (they look like women on this game though), went home.

~ Sat outside the mansions in Vinewood, trying to intimidate the residents. Nothing happened. I only had $7800. I went home. On the way, I fell down the hill and broke my car.

Just a few of the things that made me fall in love with this game all over again. I think I'm going to 100% it again before GTA V releases.

Has anyone else started playing this again, and if so; what do you think of it now?

I bought the whole collection on the PC for 4.99 the other week, so I'll be going through it on the PC soon. Right now, I'm on the Xbox version that I downloaded from the Marketplace.

Is it just me, or has this version suffered while being transferred? To me, it looks very similar to the PS2 version, while the Xbox version was much sharper, clearer and faster. I remember being able to see all the way over the freeway from my Grove Street house, but now I can't.

This XBO version just seems to be a middle version between PS2 and Xbox, but I know the PC version is the ultimate version of the game.

If you aren't playing SA, are you playing any GTA again? VC; 3; 4; 2, even?

Looks like you been killing a lot and LOL @ your dancing skills :P Shotgun solution of course..

I need to get my PS2 back from the garage and set that up, might get back into Vice City some time when I'm super bored. Sadly I don't have San Andreas anyore, lent it to a friend a years ago and haven't spoke since, don't really feel like buying the game again. Though I am trying to get 100% in GTA IV PC currently.

The solution to all life's problems can be found in the barrel of a gun!

You should really buy it again, it's just so awesome. I can't wait to progress through the story to unlock San Fierro and take an NRG-500 motorbike up and down those hills, or Las Venturas and the casinos where I can waste every bit of money I've ever earned in a few short minutes! Or even the desert, where I can get really fucked off with the flying school but feel better when James Woods sits down next to me. He's just hilarious in this game!

I want to unlock Didier Sachs too, so that I can murder drug dealers in Los Santos, wearing a Tuxedo.

EDIT: Oh, I noticed your GTA IV Xbox completion! Very impressed! I need to finish off the online for that. Any tips to make life easier?

Good luck with the PC one, I'll be starting that soon!

God damn I don't anyone who knows so much about San Andreas..you point out every little detail! Awesome!

GTA IV online is a nightmare, the only bit you proabably have left from my best guess are the race wins and ranking 10? Well I'd find a partner and dedicate a few days if you really want to win every game mode online.

Ranking 10 theres no quick way around it, I played one of the online mission based game modes (Hangmans NOOSE) for about 2 months non-stop (80 hours) back in 09 to reach the top rank, really is a bitch and I won't be surprised if they do it again in GTA V god forbid..

Haha, I've been a huge GTA fan since GTA 3 (Well, more VC). San Andreas was my favourite one and I must have sank over 300 hours in to it, maybe more. I know pretty much everything about the game - though maybe not as much now - and could recite much of the script.

That's how much I love this game.

As for GTA IV; yep, those are the last ones that I need. I've read the Happiness Island method for Wanted but the wins will take me forever, it seems.

I've seriously been debating purchasing GTA:SA from the marketplace since it came out. With news of GTA V being in SA I might need to get reacquainted (sp?) with it.

Oh, man, yeah, I wondered why they had the whole GTA collection for around $10? Maybe a bit more or less? I forgot. Well, since I already bought Grand Theft Auto San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto Vice City, why would I pay that to get two free games, along with extra copies that I can't use of two games, and just get GTA IV and GTA IV SFLC, when I already have it for the Xbox 360? Man, it was a damn good deal, for ANYONE! I just didn't feel like getting Grand Theft Auto III. lol Maybe when it's, like, three dollars.

PS - There are no deer in GTA SA o_O'...

I remember the huge controversy with the hot coffee mod. Although I was never really into this game, I didn't play it very much at all. My favourite GTA has to be number 3 and then 4 afterwards, vice city and san andreas were ok but just not my thing.

Did anyone else have that same feeling deep down in the pit of your stomach when leaping off a hill at full speed? The same feeling when you're in a real car that drops away from the brow of a bridge. Everytime I played it , I would drive to the top of a hill , race off , then eeeuurgh - the stomach would go funny.

The latter two will keep you busy, but once you're rid of MW3, this should fill it's place.

I happened to be in the mood to load up my San Andreas on my Xbox and play it a bit. Messed around with my gattling gun and recruited other gangs in my gang to take down other gang territories. Ahhhhh cheat codes....

Well, I do experience that too, it's sorta like the elevator "feeling" too, but I didn't experience that in-game! O_o' It's virtual! lol

Word of advice, don't purchase San Andreas off the marketplace. My friend did and the game looks awful, worse then the PS2. The sound was crap and the graphics and pop up were bad. Purchase the actual disc, it's probablly around $8 or $10.
When i heard the news for GTA5 I popped back in GTA4 and Episodes from Liberty City. I have all the achievements for those games except AWP, need and would like to boost for it seeing that it's almost immposible to get that achievement otherwise. I never got %100 in TLAD or TBoGT (even thought there is no achievements for %100) so I'm playing those when I'm not playing Skyrim.

"Who's playing it again?" I never stopped, from day one of having it ive been playing it since then. I have my ps2 hooked up next to my 360. Thats how amazingly fun SA is. When IV came out.. well you know the difference. I remember playing SA for hours, my mom would even play blowing up cars on the highway. It is endless fun, I hope they bring that back because if not they should just stop.

I've never truly stopped either. I've got it for every console it has been released on and every so often, I used to play the XBO version as it was easier to get to.

Now I'm playing it on the PC and it looks fantastic! But, the game does not like the 360 controller and so I have to map out the buttons with a special program.

I'm thinking of replaying this today. Haven't played it since release because I can't stand the African-American "gangsters" stereotype as they remind me of chavs (Google it if you're not from the UK aha). The traditional Italian Mafia style characters would've made this game perfect for me...

Might start playing this again, spent most of my teenage years playing this bad boy, still one of my top 5 games of all time, so much to do and lots of places to explore.

And pedestrians coming out with random stuff were hilarious.
