I tried real hard to like it and I'll list my points as to why its got to the point where I hate it.

1. Story if you are going to make a RPG at least put a little effort into your story this is just dire its a horrible mess.

2. Pawns, anything but the fighters,Mystic Knight are terrible, the magic users are so slow at casting spells that anything but a huge creature is dead before they can cast.

3. I now appreciate a fast travel system in other games, having to spend 1 hour walking back to a town is a chore and not fun. Yes i know you can get a stone to teleport but they aren't too common and I've found one so far.

4. The warrior class, i pick a warrior but i can't use a basic 1 handed sword wtf? I then bought a huge 2 hander and wow the attacks take a day to finish.

Am sure there are people that love it but after 10 hours i can say i tried to like it but the lack of a decent story is the real killer for me.

Hey if you don't like it fair play.

But when you hire a pawn you can see a detailed list of primary and secondary skills.

This allows you to pick people with the appropriate skillsets to aid your party.

The story isn't that hard to follow.

It's pretty good so far.

It has made me really have to think hard about how I approached situations and who I used.

It's forced me to change my play style on the fly and seen me overcome enemies and challenges that seemed impossible.

Maybe take a beak and go back.

It does not take 1 hour just to get back. Mages are actually very good, I use my friend's mage and she kicks ass. If you want to use a one handed sword then play as a fighter, two handed is for warriors. I have a warrior and she doesn't take forever to use attacks. You are greatly exaggerating certain things, I'm a level 25 but I haven't done much in terms of main story missions so I can't talk about the story really. But I was not expecting a great and deep story, this is a capcom game after all. I love great stories and I would love a great story in every single player game I play but sadly that is not the case and it will never be but I won't let it turn me away from playing a game. Anyway you don't want to play anymore that's too bad, but going online just to make a thread for it makes no sense.

I have only played for about 4 hrs,i am liking it,but there are some weird choices by Capcom

I have no idea what the hell possessed them with that save system

It saves every 5 minutes but then when you die,it loads back to a save bleeding hours ago...so the autosaves notices every 5 minutes, far as i can tell are for show

Pawns need to STFU telling me the same thing a million and one times,oh and i would rather when i see Lizards down below the ledge i am stood on,and i know they are out of our league,I would rather the dumb ass gang of mine not jump down to try and take them on,only to get killed

other than that i am okay with the game, but like i say i am only 4 hrs in

Vocations don't work in an upgrade system. The Warrior isn't necessarily better than the Fighter, the Assasin isn't necessarily better than the Strider. If you want to use one-handed swords, play as a Fighter or Assassin. You'll not suffer for it. Each Vocation is essentially stand-alone, so you don't have to worry about different one's if you don't want to.

If your Pawns are rubbish, it's more likely because they're rubbish Pawns. You may also have a poorly built party. I'm around level 30 and I'm using a Magick Archer, Mage, Sorceror and Warrior, and it's working great. A few levels back I was using a Ranger, Warrior, Fighter, Mage setup and it was awful. The layout of your party really does affect how well the game plays for you.

The travel system is a pain in the arse, I agree. There's a guy in Gran Soren (in a house next to the castle, I think) who sells the Ferrystones at 8K a piece, but it's still a faff. I think it would be a better system if the 'stones were infinite use items. That way, you can always get back to the main city and, when you get your hands on some Portcrystals, you can implement strategic placement and it really feels as though you're advancing.

Story-wise, I've not played much. I don't expect a croissant to drive, however, and I certainly don't expect Capcom to write decent plots. This game is all about the gameplay.

You totally missed my point about the pawns.

I'm about 15 hours in and definitely enjoying the game, however, I can definitely agree with a few of your points. Why they left out a more accessible fast travel system is beyond me. The stones are cool in that you can leave a dungeon if you feel the need -- which is a cool concept -- but shouldn't replace a legitimate fast travel system in such a big game. I love exploration and wouldn't use a fast travel system unless I have to go to the same area multiple times in a short time frame (like the escort system to the fort). The story does seem like a mess and from the reviews I've read they agree. For me, it's not a problem

because big open world RPGs I have more fun running around, exploring stuff and stumbling on random quests. But if you really enjoy a story and that could make or break a game, then this is not the game for you.

Aside from those problems, I feel everything else the game does is awesome! The combat system is fantastic IMO, exploration is fun, the monsters are cool and I really like the pawn system. Overall a great RPG.

I won't go as far as to say the story sucks, but I guess it is sparse/spread thin. If you want a great RPG with an even shittier story, check out Resonance of Fate. It was such a blast to play, but boy, nothing really made sense at the end do it all!

What are you talking about?

You can save ANYTIME you like.

Just hit "Pause" and select "Save".

If you die you will restart from there.

Don't selece "restart checkpoint".

I'm liking it, I currently am using a party consisting of:

Me: Magic Archer

Main Pawn: Sourcerer

1st Hired Pawn: Mage

2nd Hired Pawn: Warrior

this party for me works great!

But just a lil Spoiler [spoiler=ID]In the quest where you go to Eleanor's Room by her request and the Duke tries to kill her, and you're put in prison. When you get released, nobody has any recollection of what you did, thus I could walk out of the castle and nobody stopped me. But then later on I was on some other quest and a soldier stopped me and put me back in Jail... I was like errrrr bit of a delay there

1. Agreed.

2. If you're killing things before your mage can help out, you're clearly over-leveled for the area. And if you can kill enemies that fast, obviously your other pawns aren't going to get a swing in either. Though I'm confused how you find fighters/mystic knights useful when you're killing enemies so fast that you don't need a tank >_> I really don't think 10 hours in is long enough to declare all 6 pawn vocations as useless...

3. Just because you can't find ferrystones doesn't mean they are uncommon. In fact, the Black Cat has an endless supply of them for sale, right in the city. Makes it easy to always leave with 1 in your inventory, and once you use it you can replace it. I think they cost 20k (just checked, I could buy 28 of them for 560k, which is what I have on me atm), but in reality that is nothing and you can easily buy one every trip. Sure, a fast travel system is handy in games, and something most people take for granted. But a big part of Dragon's Dogma is the fact that if you make a bad decision, you die. Fast travel negates that. And they still give you one-way fast travel for a price.

4. That's simply your lack of knowledge about the class. Warrior = 2-handed weapons. It's not a "better" version of the a fighter, its a different class that uses 2-handed weapons. Being upset about not being able to use 1-handed swords as a warrior is the same as expecting to use 1-handed swords as a sorcerer or ranger. That's not what the job does. If you want to use 1-handed weapons and be a damage machine instead of tank, play Assassin. It's not the vocations fault you misunderstood what it was.

All that being said, to each his own :) You have a right to not like the game and give up. I just hate to see you (or someone who read your post) quit the game based misinformation.

First time through I went as a mystic knight, didn't really have any problems. Ran 2 sorcerers (with diff skill sets) and my ranger pawn. Pretty much anything short of a cockatrice we would annihilate (mainly cause I had nothing to cure the freaking petrify with)

Running through as a sorcerer now pretty puny until you get the amazing skills.
