Top class game for 2.99 (No story spoilers)

Cannot believe how much fun I'm having with this game, and it cost less than a porno mag

Now I may have been slightly miffed if I paid full whack perhaps, but in all fairness I'm having a great time with it, so ya never know.

Got this in the sale when it was 2.99 just before Christmas, and wow am I glad I did. The graphics are saucy, the combat is fluid, cover is a bit kack but then again I only appreciate the duck & cover systems of GTAIV & V.

As many people have mentioned though, its the story that keeps you pushing forward. I've just got to around Chapter 7 where you have to try to save an agent. Got my arse handed to me pretty quick, but another good thing about the game is that the check points are very well placed.

Big fan of the 419 machine gun, although at first I thought the 419 meant how bullets I had. Last time I will charge on at a turret with only a bullet left in the mag. Wow did that end ugly...

Games got a really good soundtrack too. But one thing was bad about the game. The d**khead narrating the intro. 'He was killing blah blah while you were sat on your arse ect etc'... what a c**t. Plus it kind of disses the gamer before they've even had a chance to start the frikking game.

Overall very very happy and wish I had it retail to go with the awesome disc collection.

If you've not played it... do so. If you've played it... what did you think?

Glad you're enjoying it. I love this game. It was definitely largely ignored when it first released, glad people are giving it a go now. The game is such a trip.

The marketing is to blame for that.

Luck at all the big budget AAA titles that sell but are very boring to play after the first few hours. Its the marketing which sells everything.

2K aren't the best in the world at publishing, they've just been extremely lucky having released some great game the past few years.

But this game definitely needs to be played. Gonna go back on it now

Incredibly under appreciated game, and for that price.... You better pick it up if you haven't done so already.
Very short but sweet game. I'm playing through on Fubar now, and im up to Chapter 12. That difficulty is destroying me. It's not so much being difficult, than the unfair parts (1v10 with 6 bullets, etc.), and the cover system is infinitely more annoying when you need to quickly get out and sprint. But it's fantastic.

This games is actually one of the most memorable games for me of the last generation. It got no hype whatsoever and I just rented it from gamefly with the expectation of finishing it quick and sending it back. It actually turned out that I couldn't put it down and ended up keeping it so I could play it again later.

Well made game with a great cerebral story that everyone should give a chance, especially with how cheap you can get it these days

It made a refreshing change that your AI team mates are actually really useful too.

Think I just got near the end of chapter 10 on the hardest setting before FUBAR.

Loving the new weapons you get later in the game too. That P46 or whatever it is. Lethal SMG type thing it is. Looks expensive too.

Loving the damage detail on your characters too. They truly look f**ked as each stage goes by lol.

Honestly, the AI was really good, up to playing Fubar difficulty in some missions. They caused me to fail so many damn times. More often than not they will just go full man mode, and run out into the open and get killed.

Definitely one of my favourite parts of this game!

Just completed my first playthrough,

Very good game indeed. Mind f**k ending and a super cool epilogue.

Probably the best bargain purchase I've ever bought. Will start the FUBAR playthrough in a couple of weeks.

Only got stuck on one or two sections before figuring it out. Some awesome weapons in this game, and really enjoyed the combat. Never even knew you could have auto-aim lol... that could have come in handy.

So i just 100% completed this last night/early this morning.
What a pain in the arse Fubar was. The AI from Suicide to Fubar goes to relatively useful to incredibly useless. I lost count the number of times they would run in and die.
I played a few more chapters on easy to get the 3 in a row without dying, and boy did it feel like cheating playing on easy!

If I can give any advice. If you really want to 100% this game, go onto playing Fubar as soon as possible while all the levels and enemy spawn patterns are still fresh in your memory.

I love that the game's writer came out and said that there is actually a hidden ending to the game...

The one where the player is so disgusted with what is happening, s/he puts the controller down and stops playing.

Good job he isn't in marketing eh.

Just started playing FUBAR difficulty. Got to stage 3 or 4, the part where you fall through the roof of the club and guys are dropping down left, right and centre.

Took a few goes to get past the end of chapter 2 or 3, the part where the enemy has the high ground from the building. That bastard rocket launcher kept wrecking my cover. Think I did it after about 10 goes though.

Wouldn't be much of a hidden ending if they marketed it.

And I like it more as an artistic thing rather than an actual game function.

Just tried the start of chapter 4 again and seem to have an expected life of 16 seconds lol.

Will do it eventually I imagine, but a bit too pooped at the minute. Got the wrong guns on me though. The AK jumps to much to be used as a line of sight weapon. More of a shoot from the hip and rip the crap out of everything type of gun.

My fav gun in the game has to be the P43 or the one that you get during the final scene.

The reason I put the game off for so long was because of what I saw at the tech demo at E3 ages ago.

It looked alright, but at the time the tech demo shown it from a 1sp person perspective. Shown Walker jumping down over a wall and ending up a highway littered with cars, with snipers scoping him out.

Back then the market was being littered with FPS army shooters, and with either MW3 or some other CoD being the highlight of the show, I just presumed this would be a another shit shooter.

EDIT

After getting to chapter 5 after a few difficult sections on chapter 4, I now have a different opinion on FUBAR.

Its still a very good game to play, and very rewarding when you finally reach a new check point. The game can get very intense during those heavy combat sections and you still don't regret playing it.

But normally with games, I'm in the cue that usually agrees that they prefer to start on the hardest possible setting. With this game its different though. You need to play the lesser difficulty so that you know how good the game can be.

With FUBAR, the difficulty comes with how realistic getting shot is. You can usually die from 3 direct shots, but its not cheap in that the AI take a full clip to kill, they die just as easily.

But for those who don't like the sound of how difficult this mode can be. Just remember that the check points are very close to each other, your team does help a lot (at least in the earlier stages) and the game doesn't have that cheap difficulty to it, just a more realistic difficulty to it.

EDIT

After around 25+ attempts, I've decided to call it a day on chapter 6. Still of the opinion that this is a top class game all round, but this section is a bit above my skill level. Got as far as when the sniper arrives, but it just takes too long for backup to arrive. Get flanked, fall out of cover, or worst of all, the slide out of cover doesn't make you run and leaves you an open target.

Found the best start at this is to sneak and get the grenades and shotgun. If you're lucky you can get 3-4 with the grenade, then run back to the car and try and get some cover. Take out the guy above and then try and blind fire anyone that gets close.

Then some chatter happens and the sniper appears. Trouble is though, is that if any of the ground troops are near you then they can 1-2 shot kill you when you try and get the sniper. Stay in cover from the sniper too long and you get flanked. Even if you melee that guy, then thats when the sniper gets you.

Great game, but every muscle in my body is tense as f**k from that section. No game no matter how much you love it is worth stressing over in such a way.

EDIT 02/02/2015

Couldn't resist not playing the game. I have to say its become one of my all time favourite games. The cover system seems to have f**kd me over more times than I can think, and wanting to vault over an object but instead meleeing fresh air pisses me right off lol.

Finally got past chapter 6. Got lucky at the helicopter chase, only took about 5 attempts. Friggin team got in my way more times than the bullets should have got me. But that spray of bullets seems to kill you even when its not aimed at you. Might be that a certain route is bugged and will only lead to insta-death.

EDIT 03/02/2015

Well looky what he gone and done. Just popped the FUBAR cheevo

As stressed as some parts get you, this is no doubt my all time favourite 3rd person shooter. In terms of gameplay and story, it takes a lot to beat it.

Please buy this game if you've not yet played it or were considering it.

EDIT 04/02/2015

Ahhhh. A very satisfying 100% completion. Not only is this an amazing game, but it has the perfect achievement list. Challenging, opens up more game paths to see, fun and tactical achievements, and with a chapter select the collections are so easy to find and hassle free.

Did I mention how much you need this game?
