Arcade Mode
To unlock all the achievements in this game, you’ll have to beat arcade mode with every character in each game (excluding the hidden characters in Marvel Super Heroes). The difficulty can be lowered to make it much easier. Even if you’re not experienced in fighting games, most of this should be fairly easy to pick up. The most difficult part of collecting all achievements will most likely be defeating Onslaught. However with some persistence you should be able to figure it out.

Challenges
The rest of the achievements are tied to in-game challenges. They can all be done very easily with little to no effort if you do them in a local match with a second controller. You can view the requirements for all the challenges from the challenges menu. The red ones must be done in Marvel Super heroes, the blue ones must be done in Marvel vs Capcom, and the ones that are red+blue can be done in either version. The achievements will also say which game they need to be done in. These challenges mostly involve performing certain actions in fights multiple times. For example, executing a hyper combo 100 times.

You don’t have to complete every challenge to unlock all the achievements. Take a look at the list of challenges tied to achievements before starting. You can make progress towards them while you play through arcade mode with every character and then finish up any you haven’t completed in local matches with a second controller. You can keep track of your progress from the challenges menu and they’re also updated live on the sidebar during matches.

Keep in mind that anything you do in training mode does not count towards any challenges or achievements. Also, if you quit in the middle of a match, any progress you made during that match or arcade playthrough will be lost.

Basic Mechanics & Controls
The two games in Marvel vs Capcom Origins both use a six button layout, which should be familiar to you if you’ve ever played any of Capcom’s many fighting games. There are three punches and three kicks. Each button will perform a different basic attack.

L, M, and H stand for light, medium, and heavy respectively, and they act pretty much exactly the way they sound. Light will do a quick low damage move, and heavy will do a slower but more damaging move.

Since people will use different controllers and different button combinations, this guide will refer to the icons above as to make it more universal and easier to understand.

By default the controls are as follows:

:
:
:
:
:
:

Marvel Super Heroes

Throws
Whenever you’re near your opponent, you can press /+ or to perform a throw. Some characters may have more throws with other buttons. Throws can be done on the ground or in the air. They’re unblockable, but throws can be “teched” if your opponent inputs a throw at the same time and avoid damage.

Hyper Meter
Separate from the health bar is the hyper meter. As you attack your opponent and take damage from the opponent, your meter increases slowly. Fill up at least one meter to perform a powerful hyper combo. You hold up to 3 bars at a time.

Infinity Gems
Unique to Marvel Super Heroes is infinity gems. There are six different gems that will drop on the ground through various conditions. Usually hitting your opponent with certain attacks will cause a gem to drop on the ground. You can then pick them up by touching them. You can store six gems at a time and cycle through them using the button.

Certain gems will behave differently for each character, for example using the Reality Gem with Blackheart makes him completely invisible. But generally, gems will offer every character the following enhancements:

Power – All your attacks deal increased damage.
Time – Increases movement speed and the speed of your moves.
Space – Enables Super Armor which allows you to absorb hits.
Mind – Increases meter gain.
Soul – Recovers lost health.
Reality – You fire projectiles when you attack or press the taunt button.

Gems are activated by pressing +

Chain Combos
Also known as “magic series”. In this combo system, chain combos are a way to cancel normal attacks into other normal attacks by pressing several buttons one after the other to form basic combos which will help you deal damage to your opponent. There are several different types of chain combos. Each character will use a different type of chain combo on the ground and in the air.

Zig-Zag , , , , , – Named for the way you press the buttons in succession.

Weaker to Stronger – As the name implies, you can chain weaker attacks into stronger attacks. ie. , , , OR , , , OR , , etc.

Weak Start – Similar to Weak to Strong, but must start with or .

Punch to Kick – Any chains into any .

Kick to Punch – Any chains into any .

Infinity Counters + to perform an infinity counter.

At the cost of 1 meter, you can perform an infinity counter while you’re blocking an attack. Your opponents attack will be interrupted by your counter attack and you will deal some damage.

Marvel vs Capcom
Throws
These work exactly the same was as Marvel Super Heroes. Hold /+ or near your opponent.

Chain Combos
Chains also work similarly to Marvel Super Heroes.

Assist Character +
Before each match you randomly select an assist character. Each character has a different ability to help you deal damage in a fight. Assists can be used a limited number of times. There are also button combinations that will allow you to select the exact assist that you want.

Hyper Meter
Hyper meter is earned through attacking your opponent and taking damage from your opponent. You start with 1 hyper meter at the beginning of each match in Marvel vs Capcom. You can hold up to 3 hyper meters at one time. There are a few more ways to use hyper meter compared to Marvel Super Heroes. They are as follows:

Hyper Combos
Spend 1 meter to perform a powerful hyper combo. Mash all the buttons during the hyper combo to deal extra damage.

Team Hyper Combo ++
Both you and your partner perform a hyper combo at the same time at the cost of 2 meters.

Team Duo ++
Both you and your partner appear on the screen at the same time. You control both characters at the same time and you have unlimited hyper meter to use. Uses 2 or 3 meters. The more meter used, the longer it lasts.

Variable Counter ++
Similar to infinity counters from Marvel Super Heroes. The difference is that your partner will tag in to perform the counter. This means both your characters need to be alive in order to do a counter.

Marvel Legend 30
Finish arcade mode without losing a round (Marvel Super Heroes)

See "Pocketful Of Gems."

Pocketful Of Gems 5
Finish arcade mode (Marvel Super Heroes)

Go to options -> game settings and use these settings:

Difficulty: 1 Star
Damage Level: 8 Stars
Max Rounds: 1

On the lowest difficulty, the AI hardly ever blocks or attacks. With max damage, everything dies in a few hits. Most of the time, you can just jump towards your opponent with and over and over.

Juggernaut is especially effective because he has super armor. This means he can absorb 1 hit before entering hit stun. His + move makes him travel all the way across the screen and does huge damage. It only takes 3 or 4 of these to kill a character. This combined with super armor lets you plow through everything easily. If you've used Zangief's Lariat in Street Fighter 4, or Sentinel's cr.M in MVC3, Juggernaut's + is similar to that.

Thanos will be the hardest part, but the only real difference is that you won't be able to use gems for this fight. Just keep the pressure on him and avoid his big attacks.

If you're going for "Marvel Legend" you can hit on a second controller to start a local match and save yourself whenever you think you're about to lose. Otherwise, you can use as many continues as you want. You can also switch characters whenever you used a continue. If there's a character your comfortable with, you can use them up to Thanos, lose, use a continue, and switch to the characters you need to beat the game with.

You can also see a complete playthrough by RA1NKING HERE.

Crossover Legend30
Finish arcade mode without losing a round (Marvel vs. Capcom)

See “Pocketful Of Partners.”

Pocketful Of Partners 5
Finish arcade mode (Marvel vs. Capcom)

Go to options -> game settings and use these settings:

Difficulty: 1 Star
Damage Level: 8 Stars

With the above settings, the AI should go down quickly, and without putting up much of a fight. My favorite thing to do is save up enough meter for a duo team attack ++. A duo team attack requires at least 2 meters. When you're in this mode, both your characters are on the screen at the same time and you have unlimited meter. Spam both your characters hyper combos as much as you can to score a quick KO.

That was the easy part. The hardest part will be the final boss, Onslaught. It may seem impossible at first, but like most boss characters, there are certain patterns that he'll fall into, which you'll learn and be able to take advantage of.

There are two phases in this fight. Note that you do not recover health between phases.

Phase 1: Assist selection is important. It'll help you deal alot of damage and you won't have to risk taking as much damage during the first phase, which will give you a much better chance of beating phase 2. I recommend Psylocke because she comes out very fast, does alot of damage, and can be used 5 times. Start holding + BEFORE the assist menu appears to choose Psylocke.

Onslaught will do many fast, high damage attacks that are difficult to telegraph. However, there is a small period of recovery after he does each attack. Block until he teleports or charges in front of you, and immediately press + to call your assist. While he's being hit by your assist, sneak in a few hits with your point character. Wait for him to attack again and repeat.

Watch out for his hypergrav move. It's unblockable and sucks you in and he'll follow up with a ton of damage. Either jump over it or hit it with a projectile or attack.

Phase 2: Save your meter for the second phase. In phase one he recovers fast enough during a hyper that it won't fully connect and ends up being a waste of meter.

Now aim for the head. His arm can be hit as well. It's a good idea to have at least one character that can do hypers in the air like Ryu and Megaman. A couple of well placed hyper combos to the head should be more than enough to finish him off. Again, try to attack when he's recovering from an attack. Scoring enough hits (hypers are good for this) will stun him and interrupt his attacks.

If you're going for "Crossover Legend" you can hit on a second controller to start a local match and save yourself whenever you think you're about to lose. Otherwise, you can use as many continues as you want. You can also switch characters whenever you used a continue. If there's a team your comfortable with, you can use them up to Onslaught, lose, use a continue, and switch to the characters you need to beat the game with.

Also note that when you complete arcade mode it will count for BOTH your characters.

From the Shadows 10
Finish arcade mode with each Hidden character (Marvel vs. Capcom)

Clear arcade mode with the games 6 hidden characters to unlock this achievement. There are two ways to use the hidden characters. The first is to input a code at the character select screen. The character select screen has an invisible timer, so you’ll need to have the code ready to input so the game doesn’t auto-select a character for you.

Also note that when you're using codes, you’re not able to select a hidden character after you've already chosen your first character. It’s just because of the way you input the code and the inability to select a character you’ve already chosen.

Gold War Machine - Highlight Zangief then press: Leftx2, Downx2, Rightx2, Downx2, Leftx2, Upx4, Rightx2, Leftx2, Downx4, Rightx2, Upx2, Leftx2, Downx2, Rightx2, Upx5

Hyper Venom - Highlight Chun-Li then press: Right, Downx4, Left, Upx4, Rightx2, Downx2, Leftx2, Downx2, Rightx2, Upx4, Leftx2, Up

Lilith - Highlight Zangief, then press: Leftx2, Downx2, Rightx2, Upx2, Downx4, Leftx2, Upx4, Right, Left, Downx4, Rightx2, Upx4, Leftx2, Downx4, Right, Down

Orange Hulk – Highlight Chun-Li then press: Rightx2, Downx2, Leftx2, Rightx2, Downx2, Leftx2, Upx4, Downx2, Rightx2, Upx2, Downx4, Upx4, Left, Up

Roll – Highlight Zangief then press: Leftx2, Downx2, Rightx2, Downx2, Leftx2, Up, Right, Upx2, Rightx2

Shadow Lady – Highlight Morrigan then press: Up, Rightx2, Downx4, Leftx2, Upx4, Rightx2, Leftx2, Downx2, Rightx2, Downx2, Leftx2, Upx2, Rightx2, Upx2, Leftx2, Downx5

The other way to use the hidden characters is by unlocking them in the vault. As you play through the game, you’ll unlock vault points, which can be used to unlock rewards in the vault. It costs 150 points to unlock each character. Once you unlock them from the vault, you can select them by navigating outside the normal boundaries of the character select screen.

If you're going for all the achievements, you should be able to get more than enough points to unlock them all, as long as you don't spend your points on other items beforehand.

Another Notch 10
Complete the third tier of the challenge “Another Notch”

The third tier of Another Notch requires you to win 100 matches.

Win a match by defeating your opponent. This can be done in arcade, local match, and online. You should unlock this on your way to beating arcade mode with each character. You can also set up a local match with a second controller.

Big Finish 10
Complete the fourth tier of the challenge “Big Finish”

The fourth tier of Big Finish requires you to KO 100 characters using a hyper combo.

Save enough meter for a hyper combo and when your opponent is low on health, use a hyper combo to finish them off. In Marvel vs Capcom, each character you KO counts towards the challenge, so you can potentially get 2 per match in MVC.

A hyper combo is the most damaging and most spectacular attack a character has. They require 1 hyper meter to perform. They’re typically done by inputting a motion on the joystick+ or buttons. For example, Ryu’s hyper fireball beam is done by inputting +. View the inputs for your characters hyper combos by viewing their movelist.

This achievement can be stacked with “Hyper Artist” and “Powers Combined.”

Hyper Artist 10
Complete the third tier of the challenge “Hyper Artist"

The third tier of Hyper Artist requires you to perform 100 hyper combos.

Each character has at least one hyper combo. They are usually performed by doing a motion on the left stick+or . You can view the combination for every hyper combo in your characters movelist from the pause menu.

Hyper combos require that you have at least 1 bar of hyper meter stored. In Marvel vs Capcom, when you have at least 2 meters stored, you can execute a team duo attack by inputting ++. When you do this, both characters will be on the screen and you’ll have unlimited hyper meter. Each time you do a hyper combo in this mode will also count towards the hyper artist challenge.

This can be stacked with the “Big Finish” and “Powers Combined” achievements.

Going Streaking 10
Complete the third tier of the challenge “Going Streaking"

The third tier of Going Streaking requires you to win 8 games in a row.

This can be done in arcade mode, a local match, or online. If you’re having trouble doing it in arcade mode, you can use a second controller in a local match and win 8 in a row there.

Grinder 25
Complete the third tier of the challenge “Grinder"

The third tier of Grinder requires you to play 500 matches. This can be done with a combination of arcade and multiplayer matches. You should have a good head start on this after completing arcade mode with every character. You do NOT have to win the matches for it to count towards the challenge, so you can let the CPU beat you over and over while you do something else and occasionally hit to continue.

Use the following settings to make these matches as fast as possible:

Difficulty: 8 stars
Damage: 8 stars
Match Speed: 8 stars
Max Rounds: 1

Hip Tosser 10
Complete the third tier of the challenge “Hip Tosser"

The third tier of Hip Tosser requires you to perform 100 throws. Throws are done by pressing /+/ when you are right next to your opponent. Some characters may have more throws. Throws can be done in the ground or the air. If you’re having trouble, you can do this in a local match with a second controller.

Powers Combined 10
Complete the third tier of the challenge “Powers Combined" (Marvel vs. Capcom)

The third tier of Powers Combined requires you to perform 30 Team Hyper Combos.

A team hyper combo is performed by inputting ++. When you do this, both your characters will come out and perform a hyper combo at the same time. You must have at least 2 hyper meters stored to do a team hyper combo.

This can be stacked with the “Big Finish” and “Hyper Artist” achievements.

Duo of Heroes 10
Complete the third tier of the challenge “Duo of Heroes" (Marvel vs. Capcom)

The third tier of Duo of Heroes requires you to perform 30 duo team attacks.

A duo team attack is performed by inputting ++. When you do this you and your partner will be on screen at the same time. You will also have unlimited hyper meter. A duo team attack requires at least 2 hyper meters. The more meter you have during activation, the more time you have in this mode.

War of the Gems 10
Complete the third tier of the challenge “War of the Gems" (Marvel Super Heroes)

The third tier of War of the Gems requires you to activate infinity gems 30 times.

In arcade mode, you start with 1 gem. You can knock gems out of your opponent with special moves/infinity counters and pick up additional gems. You'll start with more gems in each match as you progress further into arcade mode. You can activate as many gems as you can carry per match.

Cycle through and choose which gem you want to use by pressing the button. They're activated by inputting +. The screen will pause for a moment and show which gem you've activated. Do this whenever possible as you play through arcade mode as gems can give you an advantage during a fight and you can earn progress towards this achievement at the same time.

Gems are a little different in multiplayer. You start with no gems, but gems will enter the field when someone scores a "first attack" and when a players health is low enough to trigger the "danger" notification. You can still knock gems out of your opponent using specials and infinity counters as well.

It's Not Over 10
Complete the third tier of the challenge “It's Not Over"

Tier 3 of It’s Not Over requires you to hit your opponent after the KO 30 times.

When you win a match, you'll enter a win pose. Press to regain control of your character. You can now hit your opponents body with attacks. Their hitbox is very low, so you'll have to use attacks that hit low enough. You get a little bit more time to score hits in Marvel Super Heroes. However, in Marvel vs Capcom, you're allowed to use hyper combos.

EVERY hit you do adds 1 to your challenge counter. So, in Marvel vs Capcom you can take advantage of this by choosing the right hyper, such as Wolverine's berserker barrage hyper and complete the challenge in just two to three rounds.

Your Turn 10
Complete the third tier of the challenge “Your Turn" (Marvel vs. Capcom)

The third tier of the Your Turn challenge requires you to tag in your partner 100 times.

Tagging is performed by hitting + at the same time in Marvel vs Capcom. This switches the character currently on the field out with your partner character. You can tag as many times as you want in a match.

Not a Scratch 15
Complete the second tier of the challenge “Not a Scratch"

The second tier of Not a Scratch requires you to win 3 rounds without taking damage. This means you can’t get hit or take any chip damage. Chip damage is taken when you block a special move or hyper combo. If you’re having trouble doing this against the AI, you can use a second controller and do it in a local match.

Fast Fingers 10
Complete the second tier of the challenge “Fast Fingers"

The second tier of Fast Fingers requires you to cancel 25 normal attacks into specials.

A normal attack is performed by pressing any of the 6 attack buttons.

A special attack is a more powerful attack, usually performed by doing a motion on the stick+a button. For example, Ryu’s fireball, which is performed by inputting +. All inputs for special attacks can be viewed in your characters move list.

A cancel when you interrupt the animation of a normal move with a special attack. This is what allows normal moves to combo into special moves.

As an example, you can press with Ryu, and as soon as comes out, you can input + to cancel the animation into a fireball.

Chain Reaction 10
Complete the second tier of the challenge “Chain Reaction"

The second tier of Chain Reaction requires you to perform combos consisting of at least 3 hits 25 times.

A combo is when you hit your opponent multiple times before they can recover between hits. You can use chain combos, some special moves will hit multiple times, and many hyper combos will hit multiple times as well.

Stacks with "Aerial Rave."

Aerial Rave 10
Complete the second tier of the challenge “Aerial Rave"

The second tier of Aerial Rave requires you to perform 25 air combos of at least 3 hits.

For this achievement, you'll have to use a launcher to knock your opponent up into the air, and then follow up with a chain combo with at least 2 more hits in the air.

Launchers are moves that knock your opponent up into the air. In MVC the universal input for launchers is +. In MSH, the button for launchers is different for each character. Some characters may also have more than one launcher. The launcher appears to count as part of the air combo, so after doing a launcher you only need to get 2 more hits in the air to get it to count towards your total number of aerial raves.

Looking Cross 10
Complete the second tier of the challenge “Looking Cross"

The second tier of Looking Cross requires you to perform variable counters, infinity counters, or infinity gem counters 25 times. Counters are done while you're blocking an attack. Wait for your opponent to attack you, and when you see the animation of your character blocking, input the command for a counter. You'll interrupt their attack and counter with your own move.

Variable Counter: ++ while blocking in Marvel vs Capcom. Costs 1 hyper meter.
Infinity Counter: + while blocking in Marvel Super Heroes. Costs 1 hyper meter.
Gem Counter: + near an attacking opponent in Marvel Super Heroes. Costs 1 gem.

Around The Universe 30
Win a match with every normally selectable character (Marvel Super Heroes)

By “normally selectable”, they mean all of the characters you see on the character select screen and excludes the 3 hidden playable characters. You only need to win one match with each character and you should unlock this while earning all the arcade mode achievements.

See “Pocketful of Gems” for more information on arcade mode.

Around The Multiverse 30
Win a match with every character (Marvel vs. Capcom)

Unlock this achievement by winning one match with every character in this game. This includes the 6 hidden characters. You only need to win one match with each character and you should unlock this while earning all the arcade mode achievements.

See “From the Shadows” for more information on how to unlock the hidden characters.

Heroic Banter 10
Complete the second tier of the challenge “Heroic Banter"

The second tier of Heroic Banter requires you to taunt 25 times.

Taunts aren’t really used for anything other than, uhh, taunting your opponent. You’ll be vulnerable when doing it, but try to sneak a few in during matches while you play through arcade mode. You can also just stand and taunt over and over in a local match with a second controller. Taunts are performed differently in each game.

Marvel Super Heroes: , +
Marvel vs Capcom:

Level Up 10
Complete the second tier of the challenge “Level Up"

The second tier of Level Up requires you to reach level 10.

In the main menu you’ll see an XP bar and your level next to your Vault Points. You gain XP by completing challenges from the challenge menu. Each challenge is worth a certain amount of XP. More difficult and higher tiers of challenges will be worth more XP. You should have way more than enough XP after completing the arcade mode achievements and other achievement challenges.

Uatu the Watcher 10
Complete the first tier of the challenge “Uatu the Watcher"

The first Tier of Uatu the Watcher requires you to watch 5 replays.

The first thing you need to do is play a multiplayer match. You can do this in a local match with a second controller, or in an online match. When the match is over, select “save replay.” Next, choose multiplayer from the main menu and then select replays and watch the replay you just saved. You can watch the same replay 5 times. You can also hold to fast forward though the whole replay and finish watching the replay much faster.

You can use this as as header, unlike the 3SO one you did, but since I don't mind (and I was gonna do one [the guide/roadmap], lol) at least I don't have to deal with the hard work this time. And I think you might need some reserves to add in the vids and such. I'll remove this post if necessary.

Wrong, you can play local versus and save replays and view them, its not an online achievement.

Hell most will. And having to beat it with 21 characters. And one maybe 2 having quick enough beam attacks to kill Onslaught phase 2....

Also, think its a tad higher then a 4. I was hoping he would hold off until he finished the game before jumping into a guide

Actually, it looks so incomplete, I could do better, and the time to finish it is more than 5 hours since I've already got it done 1st to complete it (on TA, lol.), but I'm holding off for now because of a lot of things to do lately. (Even though it looks like TC is on break.)

i not a good fighting game player. but the achievment difficulty should be 3/10 and not more. the game is easy. i only still have grinder and to do 22 reversal move to 100% complete the game.

Made some major updates and added alot of info in the arcade sections. Before, I wasn't sure how I should write arcade achievements that lead into one another cause there's so many, but I think I cleaned it up a bit. Also added some super cool videos.

So just to confirm: all chievos can be earned in Arcade mode? I don't want to do the "local" online thing.

Thanks!

secret characters are selected outside the normal character select area. Orange Venom, Orange Hulk and Gold War Machine are up from the top left, top middle and top right of the character select screen, Roll is to the right of Mega Man, and Shadow Lady and Morigan Twin are at the bottom left and bottom middle (press down).

Not quite "all" - you need an actual multiplayer match, either local or online, for Uatu the Watcher. Only one is needed; just save the replay and watch it a few times until the achievement pops.

What the heck are "Z" an "X". Can someone please convert these button icons to Yvette actual buttons on the controller for me? I'd really really appreciate it. I'm so confused, I don't even know how to activate a gem lol.. because I don't understand the button icons..

This is so obviously not a 3/10 it's more like a 7 or at least 15 hours because the last boss is the biggest bitch ever. You literally cannot kill his second phase with any attacks and super combos seem to suddenly be impossible to pull off. You die, and your second character has half life as it comes in because the boss is already doing some ridiculous attack.

I want to warn everyone that a 1 star difficult is basically Hard Mode. It just gets harder as you raise the stars. There is no easy in this game. It's absolutely frustrating and I never really get frustrated in games. Be warned this is not an easy completion and I am extremely disappointed I even purchased it. Remember, this game was in an actual arcade. The goal was to make people put in quarters. They did not care about gamers at all when they made this. They wanted pure profit and the more difficult they made it, the more money they got. So yes, good luck to anyone who has patience with this. It might take me well over an hour just to beat the boss with Megaman and another character....who knows if I will be able to do that 15+ times.

Also, what the absolute $%*# does two hands mean? Why the hell do I have to read hieroglyphics when I read fighting game guides? Sure it looks cool to put those fancy little icons, but I have no clue what they even mean. I literally cannot translate them to buttons on my controllers. I look at the move sets and they all have them. Well guess what, I am not an expert fighting game champion who uses fight sticks. I have a basic controller. I need to know how to do a super combo with the controller that translates to :abbut: etc. Please and thank you. Sorry for t he rant but I am beyond frustrated at the game and it infuriates me even more to come here for answers only to get exactly the same message the game sent me, which was confusion.

Two punches means any 2 punches at the same time. So any combination of X, Y, RB. I believe LB is a button that's the equivalent of pressing all 3 punches at the same time.

Also I'm sorry.

At the time, listing the controls this way made more sense to me because of a variety of controllers, and that's how it's listed in the games control settings so I thought people would be able to associate which button does what easily. But now that I think about it, I guess most people would use the default controls anyway, and anyone with an arcade stick and the like would probably be well versed enough to not need help.

The game wasn't really that popular even when it came out, so I guess there wasn't anyone to say anything back then. I'll update it when I have some time later.

No problem I was just really angry at the game and didn't mean for it to come out rude sounding like it may have seemed. I was really frustrated I did manage to beat the last boss but only like 3 times now luckily once without dying.

I do want to add some good news. If you get KO by the boss you can still hit start on another controller quickly to stop yourself from getting to the continue screen and counting as a loss. I don't know why, but it works. I was not fast enough to hit start and it showed the KO screen. I was still hitting start on the controller anyways. What happens is the Second controller then plays against the boss. Lose on purpose, and then I think press start on first controller or it goes automatic (I forget) and play. I still got the achievement that way, even though 1) I did get KO and 2) My second controller was playing against the boss at one point.

Pay attention to your wins in a row if you still have that counter. Should still read as if you had not lost yet.
