Does this game get any better?

I made a mistake by playing AC:2 and AC:B before playing AC:1.. I Gamefly'd AC so I could experience all 3 games before AC:R is released this Fall. The game seems extremely slow compared to the others.. Does it speed up at all? I can't get into it like I did with AC:2 & AC:B....

Not really no. The game is very repetitive as you only have those four mission types. It's a good game but you've been spoiled by games that have many impovements.

This game is known for being extremely repetitive. I personally wasn't too bothered by it. Great story, gameplay, and environments, the side missions just get old real fast.

Thanks guys. Guess I just gotta buy some beers and make a night out of this game.. Loved AC2 and ACB.. Hoping I can enjoy Altair's story as much as I enjoyed Ezio's story!

while the game is slow, try and pay attention to the story. The story is well written and sets up all the other games. I recommend just playing your first time through...don't worry about collectables right away wait till you are almost done and all areas are unlocked.

I never thought I would honestly play any of the AC games, but after buying the first AC when it was pretty cheap, I have enjoyed it. Can't wait to start the second one and buy the third one when I get some time

Agreed. I just bought the 1st game used for like $7. The series was always being highly recommended by some of my friends. I must so that so far I have to agree that it is a sweet game.

I sorta had the same thing happening to me. Cept I completed this first, then went onto the 3rd rather than the second.

Great game though.

I did like 90% of the game two years ago and then my Xbox died so I had to restart. I just beat it a few days ago and it SUCKED compared to the other AC games. I can't wait for revelations.

If you wanna play just for the storyline I'd recommend playing the Director's Cut on PC as it has 4 extra missions and more variety. I personally never found it repetitive and have played through it a good 5-6 times.

I just borrowed 1,2 and 3 off a friend and I wanted to play this one first so I didn't miss anything in the story (Though I'm pretty sure the cheeve guide already spoiled it all) and I am having no fun at all I've just finished the first boss and the game is incredibly annoying!
Climbing half of the time is simply horrible. You have to go through the kingdom at a snail's pace to avoid being spotted and if you are spotted *BLOOP BLOOP BLOOP BLOOP* you are bombarded over and over by possibly the most annoying noise I have ever heard... I think I might just skip this one

I was afraid the stealth aspect would be as torturous as the Thief series, so was happily surprised.

the game is good but its limited to what you can do. as youve played the other games first your probably more used to having things such as more collectibles and faction creed challenges. its still good to play to get a bit of background info for the rest of the game though

its worth just hanging in there and getting to the last five minutes of the game when all the repetitive gameplay finally gives a result for your effort.

Yeah, if you can see past the biggest complaint of the game (that being it's repetitive gameplay) and enjoy it's story, environment, and so forth than it'll be good.

The story is the best of all the games.....this game was written back when Ubisoft cared about this series.

Agreed, since Brotherhood it felt like they were just milking this series... Almost like they had this original idea, but then they made new plans and had to figure out a way to stretch things out to make more games.

Why not just finish the main story already (unless they finally did with ACIII which I haven't played yet) and then worry about spin-offs and seperate storylines?

All AC3 did was show how much Ubisoft does not care about this series....only that they want to make $$$.

Hmm... :/ That's rather unfortunate. I truly hope things change. Otherwise, I guess I just won't consider anything after Revelations an Assassin's Creed game.

I guess it depends on what you mean by better. AC3 by itself is not a bad game, it just doesn't fit in the AC series.

That's probably a good way to describe 3. I didn't hate it, but it did take me a while to like it, and I really don't consider it to be the same sort of game as the other ones. In some ways, though, I think the Revolutionary War is more mature and thoughtful than the past ancestor's storylines (though it does rely on extremely ham-handed "plot-twists). Sadly, the modern-day storyline compensates by being extremely unsatisfactory and childishly simple.
Personally, while I know in my mind that the gameplay in 1 is repetitive, I have yet to be tired of it. It's a beautiful game, and I enjoy inching toward completion. I enjoyed Red Dead Redemption in exactly the same way.

I agree that it is repetitive. I disliked the eavesdropping and whatnot you had to do before starting a main mission, but the assassinating is still fun. A little regression in combat after playing all the others including AC3 for me.

You have to consider what was out when this game was released. Compared to the games now it's not as good, but it did start the Creed franchise. Too bad Ubisoft sold-out and mails in a game ever year now.

Even though the game play can be kinda dull compared to its future predecessors the story is pretty good, but it starts out slow it does speed up though as you continue to play through it

Good or not?

Personally I must say that I have loved the these games from start 'til end. Many are saying they are just milking it, reusing games with different stories, but I LOVE both gameplay and the whole story as a whole.
