Many thanks for the guide. I've been pretty much trudging through the game, but honestly am mostly indifferent to it all. Still pretty sure I'll buy any AC game they put out, though :P

I hear ya. IMHO the Halo fanboys are the worst next to COD (I like both franchises but I'm not going to suck their dicks "just because").

I used to be almost too "this game is awesome" but learned it was personal preference. Now I'm just as critical about a game even though I love it.

So you say that using the animus hacks disable the achievements. But why does the game not warn you when you turn them on, thats Total BS.

Edit: I just completed the common man mission, and IT is confirmed that achievs do not unlock. Therefor.... I is Focked

I totally agree with this. I think the whole achievement / trophy thing is over rated.

I'm playing games since 1983 and that was fun...you actually played the game...nowadays "they" look at guides how to play the game....really sad if you think of it.

I think youre on the wrong site buddy !! I joke, i completely agree i constantly find myself playing old PS games for fun even though iv done them a million times. I miss the days where story was more important than graphics.

For Original Gamer:
Nine Men's Morris: you need to place three of the pieces in a straight line to remove one of the opponents piece, and repeat until he has less than three pieces. Note: when you or your opponent have 3 pieces left you can move any piece anywhere on the board, so its going to get annoying.
Bowls:
The points go to the player who's bowls (normal balls) are closest to the jack (red ball) after everyone has thrown their bowls. The next turn goes to the player who's bowls are not closest to the jack

The guide seems to be counting Head in the Cloud as an offline achievement. It requires you to be online, though. Can it be obtained without a gold account?

That's odd. It didn't glitch for me. I got it as soon as I hit %50. Check the Animus Database. I think that percentage is what the achievement is for. Not your DNA.

Exchange undamaged pelts at all different general stores.

To get an undamaged pelt, you must kill an enemy while your "first" icon in your weapons is active. This usually involves punching the animal if you are running around carelessly spamming the button. You then trade the pelts that are in perfect condition as indicated by the description. You must sell at least 1 of any animal pelt to every general store. There are a total of 3 stores in each area (3 stores, 3 areas, 9 total). You have to get close enough to the door for it to show up on your map. Use the below list to check the stores you have sold perfect pelts too. There is no other way to see which store you sold one too. It is up to you to keep track of this.

Boston Stores
  1. Hancock's Store No. 5
  2. Elizabeth Murray's Fineries
  3. Child's Still House of Dry Goods
New York Stores
  1. Rhinelander's Sugars
  2. De Lancey's Imports & Goods
  3. Van Brugh's Spices
Frontier Stores
  1. The Walking Haberdashery
  2. The Milliner's Wares
  3. Murdoch's Barter
For this, it might be helpful to put descriptions of where to find them. For me at least, even if I was standing directly outside the door, they did not show up on the map until I actually entered each one. Especially in the frontier, that makes it rather difficult to find them.

The Walking Haberdashery for instance is in the town with the southern Harbormaster in the Frontier, to the southwest of a bridge crossing the river the harbormaster is on.

The Milliner's Wares is in Lexington, directly north of the New York exit, about halfway the distance to the Homestead exit. The building is on the north side of the town, to the southeast of bridge and directly to the east of a large corn field.

PowerPyx has a video in this thread showing how to find all the general stores.

Thanks to all who contributed to the various guides. Youtube videos were very helpful and confirming/discussing the glitches I encountered made me feel better (motivating me to continue on). The Encyclopedia glitch took me almost 10 hours to resolve and I have no idea what I did to make it finally work.

Currentlty at 910 gamerscore. I now only have the Coureur De Bois and multiplayer achievements left. I hope to assassinate some of you from a haystack online and good luck to everybody in your pursuit of the achievements.

Cheevos are just a cheap way of encouraging gamers to play the same game multiple times, often without justification or value. I only scan these guides to check if I am missing something simple like reading an certain e-mail or gathering a certain item only located inbetween 2 specific missions 3/4 of the way through the game.

For that I am greatful for well written guides such as this one.

Many a time I have finished the game only to find out I have missed a cheevo because I was too involved in the mission side of the game which surely is the whole point.

I am also largely an offline gamer. I hate online gaming. It relies too much on the courtesy of others (of which there is little) and less on the skill of the individual. Online cheevos are also a bust. If an online game is good enough to play, no amount of false reward would stop it. It either stands on its own or doesn't deserve playing.

Take CoD Zombies, next to no acheivements and no level benefits but still extremely popular.

I remember when games were either released complete or flopped due to crippling bugs, no chance of releasing a 1gb patch on release date just to get to the title screen.

Games were played to completion if worth it and played only once unless they were great. Therefore games had to be great and had to work out of the box or ended forgotten quickly or marked down in infamy.

Also people used to make their own challenges, the amount of times I have finished Silent Hill just to try and get 10 stars or tried to do Res Evil with just a pistol for the sheer fun of it. And who can forget the entire community hell bent on getting the fastest time on every diffculty setting in DOOM missions.

Saying that, AC is one of the most solid* series I've played in recent years and sits up there with Borderlands and Dead Space on current gen. *By solid I mean enjoyable despite bugs and worthy of replays.

Didn't see it posted, but an easy way to get the 2 musket kills for Spit Roast is Sequence 2 Memory 5 (or whatever the final one is); you start as Haytham on a roof and are told to pick up a gun and attack the convoy. Grab the rifle and wait till the convoy is almost past then aerial kill one of the rear guards by jumping on him then quickly spam X to slide up to the next one and kill him.

Very easy, pretty much guaranteed every time since there are 4 guards and you only need to do 2 of them. Anyway, thanks for another great guide!

As soon as I hit 81% both animus, and dna it popped.

Not that I have seen, I guess if you only kept sending out the same assassins and never ranked up the others and finished every single assassin mission then you might be screwed I don't know if there is another way to level them.
