Nick G 42390
Well, Walmart has this really cool 360 stand that holds your games, controllers and your xbox. I'm thinking about buying it because it looks really cool and it would be nice to have and help my xbox shit stay organized. I was just wondering if anyone stands there 360 up because that's how this stand works and I remember if you stand up your old PS2 it broke them alot faster. So, does anyone stand there's up and if so have you ever had problems cuz of it? Or, does anyone know if standing it up hurts it?
getbusy1242
My friend had his stood up for a while it didn't break, but he side he really didn't like cuz when you open it up the disc would fall out. And one time the disc slipped forward and got stuck while the tray was trying to close. So i think this comes down more to prefrence i personally don't like it that way. Pez
When you stand it up, it supposedly blocks the filter that takes in the cool air, which means that you're gonna have no cool air coming in and lots of hot air being created. That's not good unless you're determined to get three red lights. If I was you, I would just keep it on it's side. It's safer for your discs also, no risk of them falling out or whatever. ~SS

Clipse 2
mines been standing up for months lol Not exactly a quality/helpful post there John. I'm trying to think of the stand Nick is talking about but for the life of me I can't think of it. I know Pelican makes a stand that has a fan built into its base that blow outside air up through the bottom of the vertically standing console. It also uses its own power supply to do this; if I were to purchase any stand it would be this one. In the short time I hand my console set up vertically I never had a disk fall out, but after looking at the disk tray its a shame MS didnt put in a drive that had the retractable tabs to secure a disk better in it. I tried finding it online but couldn't, it's like 70 bucks and it's at walmart and they just got it not to long ago and it's a tall stand that holds your controllers, games and xbox. It looks really cool but i'm not to sure when it comes to standing systems up since the shit with the PS2's.

Jdm
Nope, buyt I'll ask next time she comes in. Can you also ask her, "Why would a console like yours be built to be positioned both, horizontally and vertically, if indeed one position is better than the other?" 2 of my 360's stand vertically and the other 2 are lay down horizontally. I've had 2 360's crap out on me, but I never found it to be how I positioned it(1. Dead Drive 2. Intercooler caused Damages). Setting it vertically does block the airflow and that's why all these Fan Stands were built. The rumor also is, if your console is positioned horizontally, it will read your software better. JoHnOfDaDeAd
My bad Clipse lol. IMHO, I think these stands are rip offs unless you want it for a nice touch. I have had a 360 fan stand which I like. It is the Pelican fan stand($15 max)You have to watch out for what you are buying. That pic that sicnevol showed us is a pic of a stand of bad quality. Really not good for a $400 system. It is what you want really, but I have seen way more sturdier and nicer stands.

I appreciate it, Sicnevol! I've always wonder this...if it's BAD, then why build it that way? Is M$ setting us and themselves up for failure?
