Pretty nice of them to give us unlimited saves for Hardcore. Meaning I may actually try this difficulty. Simply save all the time and you'll have no problems!

Hopefully it will run like BioShock did with the "Brass Balls" cheevo.

I had no problem saving my game every 27.3 seconds

It sounds like if you die, it "corrupts" your save files so you can't load one up and continue. Which is why copying them to a USB drive is useful.

You can't save. Their are no manual saves. Why do people keep talking about saving their game? Their are no save stations only checkpoints. Is says that you can save and continue but all that means is that it saves checkpoints as you play and then when you need to stop playing you hit "save and quit" in the menu and it saves your progress from your last checkpoint. So you can't save your progress more often then it gives you a checkpoint because when you hit save and quit all it does is save your last checkpoint. You will still have to make it from checkpoint to checkpoint in order to do this.

I am curious, too. I would've guessed Retro Mode is what Classic Mode is. So it is hard to guess. Maybe it plays like DS1 in reference to weapons, upgrades, items, etc.?

Also, I am curious as to what the Devils Horns are. Weapon? RIG? Purely cosmetic?

Posting this in text form for convenience:

New Game+
Start a new game with you complete game's inventory and resources. MK-II Overclocked parts and +3 circuits can be found throughout. Can be played at any difficulty level.

Classic Mode
Start a new game in the spirit of the original Dead Space. Only classic weapons can be built via blueprints. Co-op play is disabled; classic aiming is enabled. Difficulty level is Hard. Unlocks the Devil Horns.

The Devil Horns have been revealed to be the new Hand Cannon/Foam Finger. It is unlocked by completing Classic Mode. Does not have infinite ammo this time, but is still overpowered. Cannot be used on Hardcore/Pure Survival apparently.

Pure Survival Mode
Start a new game where resource management is key. Enemies will not drop health or ammo. Everything must be crafted at the Bench. Difficulty level is Hard. Unlocks the MK-II Overclocked Part Set and Mega Resources deposit.

Hardcore Mode
Start a new game that's not for the faint of heart. You must beat the entire game without dying. You can save and continue playing, but death will reset you to the very beginning. Unlocks Retro Mode.

Retro Mode
Some form of an 8-bit mode, details unknown.

So the questions remain:
  1. What are MK-II Overclocked parts and the part set?
  2. What is the Mega Resources deposit?
  3. What base difficulty is Hardcore on?
  4. What exactly is Retro Mode?

What's 'Classic Aiming'? Have they changed something between this and the previous games? Played the demo, and the controls didn't seem any different to me, apart from the roll/cover stuff.

DS1 was slightly off-center. DS2 was dead center. Classic would be like DS1.

I think I actually prefer classic aiming. I may use it from the start of my first play-through since it can be toggled in normal modes.

Some guy on Gamefaqs finished Classic Mode and he said it's a weapon that goes pew pew bang bang when Isaac shoots, looks like the hand Cannon is back

No I haven't beaten it yet. I just got it Friday. But the menus tell you everything that you unlock. It says Retro for hardcore, but in the options menu it already lists the option to turn 8-bit retro on or off, but it's greyed out for me till I unlock it. How bad will it be? So far I've encountered 2 instant death sequences, 2 regenerator fuckers at the same time chasing me, and the game seems a lot more action focused. A lot more enemies and you get trapped in rooms while they spawn a lot.

Give you an idea of the length. I'm halfway into chapter 6 and have played for 6 hours 35 min. Save file tells your time and percentage. I'm 25.9% I've also done the 2 side quests that were available. Side quests are long! They're the length of full chapters and they're not fetch quests so that's good. Also, there's a level select and it tells stats for everything so you can see what you miss. How many weapon parts, logs, circuits, even which chapters have side quests and co-op only quests.

I just wanna know if you can simply DASHBOARD once you die in HC mode and then continue. I don't want to read or hear any speculations only confirmations!? Thx to Xerofox for the picture uploads.

YEP. I saw the one spawning, and I was like, oh great, this asshole. Then I ran, turned the corner and there was another one! Scared the shit out of me. Then you have to do a whole sequence of waiting for something to arrive, while 2 of them chase you around, all the while scorpion necros and spitting necros come out all over. Pretty intense!
