Updates??

I've seen some footage from the pc version, and thought "Hey, I don't have that on the xbox!"

Any one know what the plans are for the Xbox version??

I had the same question as you. I've searched a bit and found this.

Linky

It is an article from May so I think it will take a while for an update. Can't wait for it though because this game is awesome.

I've also read a reddit interview-thingy with Redigit, stating that he has nothing to do with either versions anymore b/c Terraria 2, but it's 505 that is working on it...
505 has stated that they ARE working on it, so here's to hoping! Now I just need to get my friends to play it too!

I freaking love this game, even more than I loved Minecraft, and I would love to get more toys in it, and added achievements wouldn't be frowned upon either, but I doubt that we'll be that lucky, if it's gonna be free...

And a creative mode would be kinda sweet too, actually!

Well it does play a lot better (guide doesnt freeze anymore and finally my dpad doesnt reset anymore).
The cactus gear also looks nice although its nowhere near as good as my current gear.
Kinda sad that the 999 stacks are glitched though.

I also noticed that the map doesn't take as long to load, it was one of my main issues.

How are 999 stacked items glitched? I can stack some items like arrows just fine.

Also, an issue I noticed is that life crystals don't produce light particles anymore.

Well it seems that if you place a stack of 999 in a chest and load that world again, the stack of 999 has become a stack of 240 or something like that. It works just fine in your inventory but the chests seem to be the problem.

As for the life crystals, I've noticed that once in a while they just shine but most of the time they are just dark.

I also noticed that we can now build campfires. They increase health regen or something so they might come in handy.

I saw! But I would really love the complete update, even though this is nice, too!

That stack glitch sounds like it sucks hard! Do the stacks "unstack", or do you lose the items? Luckily for me, I haven't experienced it!

Can't wait for the new biomes!!

Well I think that those items are lost. When I played yesterday the first thing I did was stack all the items in chests, after I was done I read about this glitch and unstacked all the items again to the normal 250 stack. I did however forget to do that with a stack of obsidian (700 something) and now I only have 60 something obsidian left. So watch out for the 999 stacks.

Explains why I never had any problems with my inventory, I'll keep this glitch in mind until it is patched.

Their new animated sprite is a good touch, but the dim light and flickering particle effects are gone right now, probably a bug.

Yes, they increase health regen so long as you are close, it is about the same as the regen you get from a band of regeneration and it can stack separately; campfires would make a great substitute for heart statues if a player lacks one, both are great for boss arenas.

Its been a while since ive played Terraria but this new updates looks really good. Definitely gonna play this again when the new updates rolls out. Those new ranged weapons look awesome.

I'm guessing that there isnt a release date for this yet? (not going to look through 124 pages on that thread you linked)

No confirmed release date yet.
Only what they had at the end of the teaser that "it's coming".
Would be awesome if we get it this month though .

EDIT - They're in the final stages of bug testing before certification (update 28/2/2014).

Hmm possibly but I've noticed this (quoted from 505) - 1.2 will be release when it is ready and approved. There will be a large announcement ahead of its release. Mar 16, 2014

But then I see this (from 505) - Those don't affect certification. Every game is managed independently. Nothing is "stalled" its just a matter of going back and forth. We just cant elaborate as to "why" it goes back and forth unfortunately. Mar 27, 2014

So at this point it's hard to tell what's going on. All we can do is wait.

Cant wait for this update. I love all the new features. Only thing I still want is something to organize your worlds (like rename or change places in the list).

I could be reading it wrong but, this looks like a deathblow for a lot of bossfarms.

Yeah being able to move and rename would be a nice feature to have.
As for the fire blocks trick they patched that with the last update I'm pretty sure. Anyway doesn't really matter with the weapons an armor we have coming in the 1.2 update....... Which will be upon us on 17th April

Yes that's right, this week we will have 1.2 for console

I just came home a few minutes ago and saw the title "Terraria Console Update 1.2 Goes Live This Week" on the front page. The wait is finally over (in a few days...).

Also those screenshots 505 posted in your link look so awesome. Cant wait to start a new world and discover all the new stuff.

First thing I noticed was that the water candle effect even works if you place it on the ground. I never knew that.

Oh and a little warning, I have all the armors from pre 1.2 on mannequins in my base and now I have updated to 1.2 some of the armors have changed texture (but the mannequin ones didnt seem to update to the new textures). When you try to unequip the armors from the mannequins they seem to disappear.

Anyone know if the patch is going to have any effect on achievement requirements? Like the new pets, bosses, armor, Crimslime in the Crimson biome, and such? I think the only slime I was missing pre-patch was Pinky, so if I find one perhaps I can verify, but given my luck so far, that seems to be a very big "if." :P

EDIT: Also, I feel kind of stupid now for crafting the Jungle Armor chestpiece after finally finding some diamonds yesterday. lol Excited for all this patchy goodness, though, it was making me sad browsing the Wiki and seeing all this cool stuff we didn't have yet.

I think the only slime I was missing pre-patch was Pinky, so if I find one perhaps I can verify, but given my luck so far, that seems to be a very big "if." :P
I'm pretty sure it does affect the achievements. If you can verify that would be great, then we would know 100%.

On a side note, I noticed ALL my coins and keys were armor and pickaxes (1.1 world). To fix I just moved the piggy bank and safe into a 1.2 world, fixed it up like new.
Also I found a temple and when I got near the "locked" door it fell off like I dug it up haha.
PS. Loving these double chest sizes .

Have not had a chance to check on the achievements yet, but when I hopped on, I found that the patch completely fucked up my world, leaving it completely unable to load. I had to delete it and start over, although in hindsight I probably should have deleted the update and moved important things (like my goddamn Mining Shirt and Pants that took hours to farm ;_ into my inventory...

Anyway, my point is, MAKE SURE YOUR IMPORTANT ITEMS ARE SAFE BEFORE UPDATING. You very well may lose them otherwise.

Sucks to hear that. Did you by any chance have the 3 console exclusive armors in a chest in that world that couldn't load?

The reason im wondering this is because I think they messed something up with these 3 armors. The ones I had on my mannequins changed into something else, 1 being a set of dev armor according to the wiki. It might be that this dev armor is causing these bugs. One the terraria forum people are complaining about a lot of bugs, and yet the only bug i had so far is the mannequin thing.

Oh and about the achievement requirements. According to the patchnotes:
Quote:
Fixed a bug where 1.2 armors would not count towards a trophy
So it would seem that they did indeed change something with the achievements.

Which are the console exclusive armors? I had crafted everything through Mythril, but not any of the hardmode boss armor.

In other news, I found and killed a Pinky. No achievement (and I'm 100% positive I had killed every other type of slime pre-patch, including the King). Even though my world blew up, my character was intact, so it's highly doubtful I lost any stats, which further cements the theory that the achievement requirements have changed. Looks like the achievement guide will need a substantial overhaul!

Would've much rather had new achievements than have the current ones change as soon as I get halfway through the game, but oh well. 1.2 made this game way better, so it's worth it.

The console exclusive armors are dragon, titan and spectral. They had the highest armor rating pre 1.2. Dunno what the best armor is now though.

As for the slime achievement. I know that the achievement for the armor works like this, you have to equip every armor piece in the same world. So this also might be the case for the slimes. As in kill every type of slime in the same world. But I don't know this for sure. (although I agree that they probably changed the achievement anyway).
