Japanese DS Detective Series Hitting US

Phoenix Wright will soon have a little more competition.
By Kris Pigna, 11/05/2007

A good deal of DS owners love their non-games, and they're about to get a fresh influx as the long-running Tantei Jinguji Saburo murder mystery series will hit the US courtesy of Aksys Games, reports Shacknews. Developed by Data East, the series -- creatively titled Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles for the US -- is described as an "interactive digital novel," not unlike Cing's sleeper hit Hotel Dusk or the Phoenix Wright games. So yeah, expect lots of reading. "Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles is the latest in a growing genre of games that places its focus on fantastic storytelling and character development," said Bo deWindt, Aksys project lead. "It's a great diversion for gamers seeking to test their powers of deduction and reasoning as opposed to their trigger fingers."
The first game will hit our shores next spring for $19.99, and contain three different cases for armchair sleuths to solve.
