Thumbs down IGN: No Further Skyrim DLC Planned, Team "Moving On"

No Further Skyrim DLC Planned, Team "Moving On"

If you were hoping more DLC for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was still on the way, you're out of luck; Bethesda has announced only "minor updates" will be provided in the future as the studio ramps up production on its next project.

In a post on the Bethblog, the company explains that its next major project is ready to make the leap from pre-production to a state where it'll require a lot more hands.

“Even though we’re moving on, we’ll still have minor updates to Skyrim as needed.

"For the last year and a half we’ve been working on new content for Skyrim; from the game updates, Creation Kit, Steam Workshop, Kinect support, to DLCs," it explains.

"Parts of our team have also been in pre-production on our next major project, and that game is at the point where it requires the studio’s full attention to make it our biggest and best work yet.

"Even though we’re moving on, we’ll still have minor updates to Skyrim as needed. We’ve invested so much of ourselves into Skyrim and will never truly say goodbye to it."

So what do you reckon? Is Fallout 4 full-steam ahead, or could this morning's news about The Elder Scrolls: Arena point to a next-generation Elder Scrolls game about to go into full development?

With Dragonborn, I thought Skyrim was pretty much complete honestly, the only thing I wanted to see, was a few more spells, there isn't enough for my taste, but still, I'm glad they're moving on and hopefully they will now focus on Fallout 4!

"Goodbye" to an awesome game. Here's hoping for a TES VI (one thats not an MMO, like "KOTOR 3" and SWTOR)

For a Monday, I was expecting some good news. Reading this, made me sad . I was expecting to see a Thalmor/Synod storyline dlc. Guess the Red Guard rumor was pure fiction.

well, how very heartbreaking. i was hoping for another large one like dragonborn. well, hopefully the new project is fallout 4, then all will be forgiven.

I think Bethesda are playing a sly game; they put out a post on their blog saying, "No more Downloadalbe Content for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, we are moving on", - I'm paraphrasing of course -..

Then, BAM, month or so down the line, NEW DOWNLOADALBE CONTENT FOR SKYRIM!..

I say think, i really mean hope. I was really looking forward to more.

Mixed feelings about this. I was sort of hoping to see Skyrim end up as a 2000GS game.

But if it means Fallout 4 comes a little quicker, I'm all for it.

I am actually ok with this, I feel like my craving for Elder Scrolls has been satiated for a while. Now I want Fallout, hopefully this "splash" they were talking about making this year involves a new Fallout game.

Could have swore they said they were finished with F3 DLC before releasing Mothership Zeta.

Not to mention, they said that there WERE NO WEREWOLVES IN SKYRIM a month before release...

Also, just because the team is finished working on DLC for Skyrim and moving on to other projects doesn't mean that there isn't content that is already finished.

Could be wishful thinking... but given their history of misinformation, I wouldn't be surprised if they sneak another DLC out at some point.

Either way, I look forward to their next game.

Considering they have what is probably the most anticipated MMOs in Beta Testing, and "Fallout 4" (most likely) starting up, I seriously think they do need to move on. If they did anything else, it would be minimalistic, and probably just filler "cash in" DLC. I would much rather have the dev team work on something else than to release a half assed boring addition **cough** Borderlands 2 **cough**

Yeah I thought about that too, I wouldn't be surprised if there is another DLC coming out pretty soon, but if there is one, it will be smaller than Dragonborn, maybe even smaller than Dawnguard!

In fact, I'm just asking for one more thing to make Skyrim a perfect game, more spells, specially destruction spells!

Well that's annoying. If I knew that I would of swapped skyrim in months ago.

I'd much rather have DLC for skyrim then a new fallout, not a massive fan.

I don't think anyone announced that there would be no more dlc coming, just that they've stopped working on it. At least there's a glimmer there. I'd just prefer ES VI

Quite a few people here are saying they could have already possibly done another DLC and have decided to not do anymore. So, we may still see one more as a surprise which I can only hope. There doesn't seem to be a lot to hold me over until GTA V. So, more Skyrim DLC is a must but, if not I won't be too disappointed.

Edit: Well, with the LE announced I guess we can rule out anymore DLC for sure. That's fine, I'm excited for the new Fallout.

Come on... I was hoping for at least one more DLC, they said they would release another big one and maybe several smaller ones? What the hell? One more DLC would make this game complete like no other game is complete, ifit were a good one... Makes Hearthfire seem even more useless than it already was at launch.

Hopefully they'll surprise us with the Redguard thing, maybe there is still some hope left. One of the absolute best games out there, it deserves one more DLC.
