nextgenplayer33's Gamercard
Suprisingly fun

Well this is now available on Live Arcade, and I have to say, it's really not that bad. The reviews for it so far have been in the 5 range, less than stellar. But after playing it, I find it to be pretty darn entertaining. Granted I've only played the demo, I'll admit it seems that it might get a little repetitous in time. Tho in short bursts, it's mindless fun. And while it might not be the best game on live arcade, I think you could certainly do alot worse for your 10$.

Anyone else who's got the full game yet, what do you think about it?? Does it get that repetitive?? Share your thoughts.

Of course it gets repetitive, it's a dungeon hack and slash! But if that's your thing you'll dig the game.

I like games like this though, I haven't been able to put the game down since I got it almost three-four hours ago.

This ain't bad, you know! You can't beat a good 3D Gauntlet clone to wile away those cold Winter evenings!

I'm getting this tonight, add me for some coop. Cpt Beanie. Ign gave this a 5/10 and team xbox gave it a 8.4/10. I don't really care about the reviews though I love hack and slash rpg's.

Anyone know how long it will take to finish the game?

lol if it was a mini diablo my life would be gone for a while. I played diablo 2 exp for oh lets see 2001- early this year when i finally chucked it in my sewer. I had 5 legit 99's on the ladder (patch 1.10 99's not the stupid .09 cows). So yea i spent like thousands of hours on the stupid thing. I don't ever want to see a game so addictive again.

that game is now called WoW for most....that is until Diablo 3 comes out, which you know will happen within the next 3 years.

Anyway, keeping with the genre I'm looking forward to Kingdom under Fire : Circle of Doom which drops Jan 8th. 4 player online co-op~!!!

I've had a lot of fun with it. I'm mindless, of course, and (at least through the first 5 missions) challenge is lacking because there are so many health potions, but it's fun, and easy enough to pick up and play. I'd say it was worth my $10 so far.

I love these types of games and enjoyed it for the hour I played it so far, and its definitely worth the $10 considering the amount of playtime you can get out of it..

That's kind of what I'm wondering at this point. How much time will I get out of it until I hit max lvl, beat the game and have nothing left to do. I prefer these games to be as long as possible but that's just because I'm a fan of the genre.

Level 20 is the max, you get it at 190k EXP. Doesn't take long at all, if you don't have it by the time you're done with the story you can just replay the last level while killing every enemy and you can get 15k-325k EXP each time.

I only have one ach left (the explosive vase one) and I had a lot of fun with this game. It's a shame there's only 19 levels though. Hopefully they release some DLC, that would just be the bee's knees.

I'd compare to to games like the Champions of Norrath series on PS2, but with more limited equipment and customizations options.

The achievements are straightforward and easy enough, but I think the 500,000 gold one is going to take the longest by quite a bit.

The vase one only takes like 20-30 minutes tops. The money's really easy too. Longest ach is easily the max level.

What I've been doing on the vases Achievement is to keep redoing the Frenzied Boars quest; there's lots of the vases to light, and tons of the little spiders that die if they're caught in the blast without having to injure them first (unlike the kobolds in quest 3, for example). By my count, I'm getting 10-20 per run. I'd probably have it by now, except my wife stole the controller to play Puzzle Quest. :/

A cult hit I say. Combination of Diablo and Wow kinda. Best 800pts well spent next to Halo 3 maps.

I am hoping they add DLC, as it would make this game much more enjoyable...like a possible increase to level cap and maybe a new line of quests...

I was surprised by this game. I downloaded the trial, and now I want the full game. Looks like I'll be buying myself some early christmas MS points tomorrow when I go Christmas shopping.

I am going to have to say that this is the best XBLA game since Marble Blast Ultra. My only gripe is that it's too short. Let's hope they bring out some DC soon.
Also, maybe a PvP tournament mode?

How to Kill 100 Monsters with Vases

HOW TO KILL 100 MONSTERS WITH VASES
  1. Level your toon (character) sufficiently to be able to walk around the 2nd quest with ease (the kolbold wizards) [I prefer quest 2 to quest 1 because you don't have to do the boss encounter every time to end the level][I did this quest last, so I was level 20].
  2. Go room to room looking for the vases.
  3. There are lots of spider spawns on this quest. Where you spot spider spawns, clear the room save for the spiders and their spawns.
  4. Gather a train of spiders (3-5) and lead them to the vases. Let them attack you through the vase (get on the other side) and they will light it themselves.
  5. One vase explosion is sufficient to lay a spider out if he is close enough. Get a cluster of 3-4 vases and you should be able to get anywhere from 4-12 spiders killed in such a cluster, dragging groups of 3-5 to each vase.
  6. Rinse, lather, repeat.
You should be able to get this achievement by clearing this level 4-5 times.

Other beasts that are great to bring to the vases include the serpents and boars.

How To Get 500,000 Gold

HOW TO GET 500,000 GOLD

I added this because I think it's a great tip. It's simply a tip to close the gap on the last 100,000 and to insure your weapons don't suffer while holding out.
  1. At some point, you will notice the item levels at the vendor top out (I believe the best ones cost 96,000 or so). Don't be chinchy - get those items because they'll make grinding this game out much easier.
  2. Continue through the game until you get in the neighborhood of 400,000 gold.
  3. Depending on your class, buy the cheapest weapon and the cheapest armor set (you're buying temporary replacements for your equipped items).
  4. Equip the cheap weapon and armor set.
  5. SELL your great equipment (I know, I know - it hurts) - it should put you over the 500,000 achievement.
  6. Go back and buy the best items the vendor has to offer.
  7. Load up on potions
  8. Throw the rest of the gold to the Gods, I suppose, because you will get plenty of gold from here on out and won't have anything to spend it on but potions, which drop throughout the dungeon.

Easy Access to Weapons and Spells

Easy Access to Weapons and Spells

I didn't figure this out until well after I beat the game:
  1. Left Button (LB) - Cycle through weapons in your inventory (As an archer, I have an ice bow, to slow, a fire bow, to hurt, and an immortal blade to leech life).
  2. Right Button (RB) - Cycle through spells.
I manually would do this and it was difficult - having to run away and then cycle through the menu. These buttons make it sooo much easier!

500,000 Gold... (SOLDIER)

I had the same trouble in this game as I did in MASS EFFECT. The Achievement is for only 500,000 gold, yet I finished the GORGON off with 1,7 million gold. To make it harder (better), they should have made it 1,000,000 gold.
I realised that the STUNNING WARHAMMER is the toughest weapon in the game, ARTEMIS' CHESTPLATE is the best armour. I just sold everything else that was either given to me or dropped by creatures. After Quest 9 (or so) the creatures do not get any tougher, so there's no real need to upgrade. And once you're Level 11, you've got GOD'S BLESSING anyway!

(N.B. Anyone who doesn't max out their CREDITS in MASS EFFECT on a regular basis surely isn't playing it properly!)

I found this game to be a bit to short but overall I felt like it had been a well spent $10. Unlike stupid Joust, even though that game was only 400 points it was the biggest waste of money ever. Those achievements are impossible ;p.
