Roll Call Experiment (Closed)

Grif Edit: This has been very beneficial. There will be some further discussions about topics discussed in this thread in a new thread that I will be creating later today (July 5th). Thanks for everyone's help!

OP- I'm asking my fellow ambassadors for a little input on the best way to get their attention about upcoming events, such as tourneys or gaming sessions. Currently (based on awards handed out) there are 133 ambassadors (54 promoters, 79 representers) and I'm curious to find out how we can keep as many as possible involved in this forum. I'm looking for your post to answer the question: How often do you check the ambassador forum? Follow up with any feedback on the best ways to get your attention, notify you, and/or what types events will keep you involved. Your post should look similar to this:

Quote:
I check this forum once a day.

Topics posted in the forum will always get my attention, but PM's are a guaranteed way to get a response. I'm always willing to participate in events as long as I have the game(s) we're playing. Specific time and dates tend to work better at getting the most people involved so far. A generic "play all day" results in playing several hours by yourself in my experience so far. That's all my feedback for now.
Thanks for your responses! Also, if you have no feedback, please still post an answer to the question to let us know that you do check this forum at some point.

Well I participated in the first 1 vs 1, only because I received a "PM" about it, plus I wanted to meet some of the community. I also tried to participate in the "play all day" happy war sessions, but I only played by myself. So "PM's" are a great way to get the attention of people. Right now though there hasn't been barely any activity for promoters and representers.

I am on the site everyday for a lot of the day, and will check this area of the forums anytime I notice a new post. You could get my attention or notify me in many different ways by either PM, wall message, posting here, etc. I would love to get involved in anything as long as I have the games and am not busy when the event is.

Is that good enough or do I need to add more?

To be honest, I don't really check this part of the forum a lot, not because I don't condone it, I just don't find a lot of interest in what goes on here.

I check this section at least once a day. I keep hoping for another tournament or something of the sort to show up. Since I am on everyday a simple PM or Visitor message suffices quite nicely.

I very rarely check the ambassador forum. I only do through New posts, if somenone has posted in here. And even then its only with the intention of answering a post.

As for getting my attention towards future tourneys and gaming events, well I know about them all as I am on the site every day, multiple times and keep myself very informed and up to date with what is going on around here. I personally am not interested in competing but to get peoples attention for future events, it may be beneficial to message people personally to ask if they want to compete. I know this would be a daunting task, but with how inactive this ambassador forum is, there doesn't seem to be much of a better way.

I never check this forum.

It isn't a matter of getting my attention, I'm plenty aware of new posts in this forum (found this thread afterall) and none of them are worthwhile. Nothing will encourage me to frequent this forum more often, it's dead. After the last tournament failed and the organizers didn't give any kind of response to the feedback, nothing about this group the effort.

I'm still an ambassador because I'm all for promoting the site, but it's time to stop pretending this is some special group of forumgoers that needs to congregate and have special activities.

Wow, there are some serious sour grapes over the last tournament. It's actually really sad to see, since it was not an easy thing to pull off and the organizers did a good job for their first event. It required a little bit of compromise on everyone's part to make it work. Get over it, people (you know who you are). The whole point is that we are representing the site, and I think that some of us are not doing a great job of it because of the griping.

Anyway, I can't say hat I check this forum every time I am on the site, but I do check it every so often. Probably every time I see a new thread. If it's urgent, a PM or visitor message will get my attention, quickly.

Meh. I check it a few times a week but probably nothing more. I guess nothing really pops up for me to be active in, other than the 1 or 2 community gaming sessions. Honestly PMing probably would be the smoothest, maybe create a PM list of the the people that want to be active in 'X' forum to weed out any people that may not care about a select topic.

Food for thought

I check this forum whenever there's a new thread.

To be honest, there's not really a lot of discussion to be had on this forum. Hell, half of the threads are related to the tournament we just had and personally I would have put all of those in the tournament forum.

There should be one thread with a list of all ambassadors, one sign up thread, and one question/answer thread and that's really all I'd expect to see here. Ambassador gaming nights are a nice idea, but we have the co-op forum now and there's no real need to do both.

This is my first time since the 1v1 tournamanent in here, and the last time then, there were still 2 rounds to go.

PMs would work best as I get emails when I receive them. I could subscribe to this sub forum if that'd help. I am on here on x360a every single day for ~6 hours a day for various things.

So, you could encourage people to subscribe to the sub forum to get more activity with email ale arts, but I don't know how many people would want the annoyance of that

Some good points have been brought up...we have the co-op forum for gaming.....maybe just list the ambassadors and have us list what game we have for boosting or causal gaming.

Maybe focus of promoting the site via social media. What if you guys posted stuff you wanted us to post on our twitter/Facebook accounts.

I'm on the site almost every day. But I really only pay attention to this forum when I see something new has been posted. Unless it's for a tournament I'm not participating in.

Wall posts or PM's are a more reliable way to get a faster response since I receive an email on my phone for those.

I try to participate in the Community Co-op sessions when I have the game, but I'm not really all that interested in tournaments. I guess I'm kinda not sure what we're really trying to do here so I don't know how to fit into it.

Question: What is the goal of the Ambassador program? Are we trying to reach out to existing members or encourage new people to come check out the site? If the former then we should be participating in or organizing more community events. If the latter, then maybe we should find a way to get more involved (in an organized way) with the gaming community at large. Or is there a third option?

I generally just hit the 'latest posts' button and browse from there. But if i do see something, like this, then I will check it out and reply if needed.

I honestly haven't been around that much lately, lost some of my drive for it after I finished up Bioshock Infinite and I had a 2nd baby in February so taking care of her takes up most of my spare time during the day. I will respond to PM's if I get them though.

I didn't take part in the 1V1 tournament and wasn't aware of any problems with it, what happened?

Long story short, it was our first attempt at it. Lots of things were learned from it....like that I am NOT as good at Call of Duty as I thought I was.

Again I am all for trying to GROW the community we currently have. There has to be a way we can utilize social media to get more members.

Facebook, twitter come to mind instantly. Also may be worth looking into getting x360a profile pictures for the xbox.

Lack of clarity when it came to rules, terrible planning and poor organisational skills from the judges. Pretty sure there's more, but I can't remember anymore. I even remember asking myself "is this really a tournament?" because of how unprofessional the planning was. For example, let's say hypothetically round 3 started on the 20th may, the thread wouldn't be updated till around the 24th of May to reflect this, by the time round 3 was properly planned and posted up it was pretty much the end of round 3, which led to many delays. It got so shocking that I had to repetitively send PM's and remind the judges to update the thread. I would also like to reiterate that the rules were terrible because at points the judges would contradict each other.

I know it was the first tournament, but the amount of problems outweighed the "good" in this case. I did like the tournament I guess, I just hope the next one isn't like the 1v1 tournament.

That was pretty much it. I guess this post is kind of off-topic?

First, thanks for the responses!

2nd, tourney discussions are gonna stay here:
http://www.xbox360achievements.org/f...7&postcount=43

3rd, I will be throwing some walls of text at you. Be prepared for info overload and discussion galore. Except when I accidentally delete it before posting...

PM's

It would appear that PM's are the way to go for getting quick responses. Should this be a sign-up to specify what you'd like to be informed of? Ideas for how to word this better?

(Forgive me if I don't make sense, reading about 500 posts to give serious feedback on this has turned my brain to mush.)

More in next post to get multi-quotes.

Same for tattoos and merchandise, no recent updates. Here's the last:

Maybe focus of promoting the site via social media. What if you guys posted stuff you wanted us to post on our twitter/Facebook accounts.

This definitely needs to be explored more and could play into our biggest issue:

No mission statement or direction:

If the latter, then maybe we should find a way to get more involved (in an organized way) with the gaming community at large. Or is there a third option?
After reading about 500 posts, I'm not sure how to respond. We have no clear direction. Intent, yes. Defined, no. Which introduces a host of problems. (Which u and I have discussed at length.) I will get into this more, but I need to get clarification on some other matters first before I "put them out there."

I would say a PM or visitor message is the best way to communicate. The trouble is you can only sent 5 PMs at a time, and have to do visitor messages individually.

Maybe have a PM sign-up thread. I think trying to pick and choose what you get PM'd for might be a huge inconvenience for those of you running the program.

Also if it helps I would pay for a xbox360a gamer pic.

As far as our mission it should be to get people to join the site. I'm sure the more members the site has the more money the site would get for advertising....then the more features the site can have.

Neither tournaments nor gaming sessions further this mission.

Just restating a point several of us have made, not targeting your comment Carmona.

tl;dr - Call it the Xbox One or X1.

I personally have x360a.org in my motto but never applied for the award since I didn't want to start my 2nd row of awards yet. I'd rather keep it a neat 4 award than an awkward 5 awards. If I were to earn another award, I'd apply for a promoter as well to have 6.
