Doors are killing me !!!!

I started playing Oblivion again tonight and now wish that I hadn't bothered. I'll explain....

I have had a 25+ hours saved game which I returned to so that I may start towards the 100% completion of the game. Tonight though, when I was comp[lteing one of the quests, the door I was coming out of hit me and tok some energy off of me. Oh well I thought, stupid game, lol etc etc.

I then noticed that my health was gradually going down bit by bit. I thought that the door may have been booby-trapped, so I used all manner of spells to try and stop the loss of health. No change. Health potions restored the health only for it to rapidly disappear again !

I managed to run to another door and get inside a dungeon and the health stopped disappearing ! Woohoo I found myself saying.... until I stepped outside the dungeon again and the same thing happened. Door seems to hit me and cause a slow leak in my health supply. ( I though it was the atmosphere in-game that was killing me after a while, sort of like a Chernobyl like air-supply).

Does anyone know of a way that I can stop this from happening without having to backtrack for two hours and re-tread the same ground ?

Has this happened to anyone else and if so, how did you solve it ?

I would be interested in your thoughts/comments.....

i'm pretty sure it's not magical doors.

it sounds like you became a full-fledged vampire. and so, anytime you go outside in the day time, you will lose health. hence, the dungeon "saved" you.

ha. nasty doors...
you made my day.

You better not be a vampire trying to walk around in the daylight...

This has never happened to me outside of being a vampire, I'm curious about how low it goes, will you die? Maybe you accidentally have a cursed item equiped? I would reload the save and make sure that it isn't on that as well.

Edit: Ah Shaaady, you beat me.

Well, I'm glad I made your day. It kinda ruined mine though !

I think that I may just have to go back and re-do everything that I managed to go through tonight and hope that it doesn't happen again.

This really sucks and has almost put me off going for the full 1000GS.

How do I tell if I am a vampire then ? You may be onto something there. It's been best part of a year since I have played this and I was completed the Virtuos Blood or something mission where you have to hunt down a Vampire......

It is known amongst the ninjas of the Tea-Gods as the Sheogorath Door-Curse of Al-Asad. You cannot run from it. It will eat your soul eventually. Postpone this by eating minotaur horns for as long as you can, brave warrior. Takata.

You can tell you are a vampire by going into the effects page of the menu. The menu with your maps, inventory, spells, ect. The page you are looking for is the spells page I believe. You probably also have some greater or lesser powers that have a vampieric sound to them.

What makes you so sure abou that ? I feel as though I hate you already, but if you were persuasive enough, then..... I guess.... I could change my mind

Thanks for that, I'll have a look into that once I have done the current quest that I'm on. Any idea how I contracted the Vampire disease ? I was doing a Vampire quest, but I wasn't bitten as far as I know....

Also, any idea how long roughly the Vampire Cure quest takes ?

You could also download the DLC named "The Vile Lair" (costs MSP) and if u go to the lair, find a shovel, mine some rocks and then use this altar thing, that'll get rid of your vampirism.

I can't explain it very well.

The length of the vampire quest totally depends on how much other exploring you have done. The soul gems and the nightshade are hard to find if you don't know where to look or don't find out exact locations by reading the walkthroughs. You may be lucky and have most of the necessary items already.......

At least you know it isn't the doors anymore but aye your stuck in the same boat as me with being a vampire. If you want to save time, then spend the money to get Vile Lair as donkeydood15 stated otherwise... it's a long quest to put it simple...

I dont mind doing the quest, just has to be added to the list of things to do....

What I do mind though is people not talking to you and having to travel at night. Oh and doing it in the game sucks as well.

Haha, yeah, it's the vampire disease. I thought you were joking about the doors but when I saw that you were serious I started cracking up. There are guides online for Vampirism and to get rid of it. A quick google search should turn up something.

being a vampire was the reason I stopped playing this game for almost a year, it became a pain in the ass trying to find grand sould gems, it frustrated me to no end.

You can also tell if you've got vampirism (well, I think you can with most characters, or at least some of the races) by looking at your character's face with no helmet on. You look old and wrinkly as the disease sets in. (Obviously not as reliable as looking at effects.)

I'd recommend the Vile Lair DLC if you don't mind spending the points. IIRC, that's what I did when I caught it, and it was much easier than what I read about the quest to remove it. I never cared to be a vampire - I never use fast travel, so it was a pain to travel only at night and all that. Plus people look at you funny. I mean, it's okay if I'm a master assassin running the Fighters' Guild, but hey, suck a little blood and nobody wants to talk to you any more ...

That sounds pretty interesting. I will remind myself not to be a vampire when I play again. That seems like the only likely reason your health would be draining though.

If you want to walk in the bright sun as a vampire you should start to drink some blood. As long as you drink blood every 24 hours you are immune to the effects of the sunlight and you are able to maintain a human look

You never have to drink blood. Just don't rest or sleep and you'll be fine. I would recommend the blood though. You can cure it an easy way if you buy that villain liar thing. I have it and it isn't that bad. Nice place to stash things.
