Fox Tenson's Gamercard
Achievement guide/help

Cleared Stage 1 10 Clear Stage 1 in Single Player Arcade Mode.
Just beat the first stage of the game with any character in arcade mode. Avoid staying near the Yeti-Snow Machine during both encounters as it can do major damage and is hard to dodge. The boss is fairly simple. Learn the patterns of the three formations and you should get through just fine.

Tip from MyAbolustion:
"Another tip for Stage 1, you can essentially end the boss battle immediately if you save up an entire chip set (3 100%s). As soon as the boss appears jump into the centre of the square so it encloses you inside of it. After a few seconds, the boss should become hittable and you should unleash 3 consecutive ultimate bursts. The boss will instantly die because the burst will hit every single corner piece from the inside."

Stage 1 Done by Scarab1192:

Note: He did not use MyAbolustions Tip for defeating the guide.

Cleared Stage 2 10 Clear Stage 2 in Single Player Arcade Mode.
Just beat the second stage of the game with any character in arcade mode. Learn the pattern of the snake mini-boss. The most dangerous part of this fight is getting hit by the body itself because it moves fairly quickly. Avoid using lock-ons for the mini-boss, as the turrets that circle will distract the fire. Shoot when the mini-boss drops its shields to attack, stay to the sides to avoid the quills, and avoid the turrets when they turn blue and chase you.

Stage 2 Done By Scarab1192:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=RztYP5NDgjE&feature=related

Cleared Stage 3 10 Clear Stage 3 in Single Player Arcade Mode.
Just beat the third stage of the game with any character in arcade mode. If you are using the character Ruby, the mini-bosses will be a piece of cake. Simply lock on and concentrate on dodging.

Other characters will need to wait and fire in short bursts to avoid being shot. During the boss fight, you should use a spread-weapon to hit the core and the falling debris. The mini-boss will attack with its saw to one side first, then the opposite next, before rotating and attacking anything in the center. Stay to the sides and shoot upwards constantly to avoid the debris. The mini-boss will eventually move to the top of the screen. Begin to fire on the debris coming from the bottom then fire on the core. The boss will rotate again and go back to the first pattern.

Stage 3 Done By Scarab1192:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZrGQ5rmoB3I&feature=related

Cleared Stage 4 10 Clear Stage 4 in Single Player Arcade Mode.
Just beat the last stage of the game with any character in arcade mode. Shoot the heads of the trains as soon as possible. The green fire cannot be repelled and is hard to dodge. Shoot the boss when it manifests. It will explode and summon meteors which can be destroyed with gunfire.

The boss will manifest again. You should begin to use a different attack and after enough damage, the boss will summon glowing orbs that will hone in on you. You can repel these with gunfire. When the boss is low on health, meteors will constantly fall and the orbs will appear every time he explodes. The meteors will be a bigger concern then the orbs at this point.

You can also use the orbs as a shield against the meteors. When the meteors come into contact with the orbs, they will be destroyed. Since you can repel the orbs with gunfire, make sure you knock them around to destroy meteors.

Ruby Master 25 Complete Single Player Arcade Mode without continues using Ruby.
Beat the entire arcade mode without dying using Ruby. Ruby's Type B (blue) weapon is a must. The fully powered laser can clear most enemies in record time and bounce off walls. Learn to use the anchor weapon on tougher enemies and bosses. Latch on and concentrate on dodging. Let the anchor do the damage and apply primary fire only when safe. Learn to use dimension shield, it takes far less health to use then getting shot will. You can also use the anchor to block enemy fire as well. Sometimes it will save you trouble of using dimension shield.

Note: Changing your character requires a continue. Do not change characters whatsoever.

Sensei Master 25 Complete Single Player Arcade Mode without continues using Sensei.
Beat the entire arcade mode without dying using Sensei. This is the easiest one out of all the character master achievements. Sensei's sword can destroy enemy fire AND reach through walls and shields. Master the sword and the game will be a piece of cake. Don't be afraid to use bombs if enemies get overwhelming.

Note: Changing your character requires a continue. Do not change characters whatsoever.

Tempest Master 25 Complete Single Player Arcade Mode without continues using Tempest.
Beat the entire arcade mode without dying using Tempest. Master using Tempest's bullet deflection skill. You'll notice enemy fire turning green when close to him. Release or flick the right stick to send it back at enemies and prevent yourself from taking damage. Type B's secondary mode works wonders for clearing screens of multiple enemies.

Note: Changing your character requires a continue. Do not change characters whatsoever.

"R.A.D" Master 25 Complete Single Player Arcade Mode without continues using R.A.D.
Beat the entire Arcade mode without dying using R.A.D. Much the same as Ruby, although R.A.D. is a bit slower on the attack. Memorize enemy and boss patterns and concentrate on firing and letting the lock on do the work. Also, remember her anchor can block some bullets just like with Ruby, so use it to save yourself if you can move fast enough.

Note: Changing your character requires a continue. Do not change characters whatsoever.

Note: I (Perpetualheaven) used this post for the guide because there was not enough room.

30 Second Max. Bonus 15 Maintain the max. bonus for 30 seconds or more.
This is an easy achievement to get. Use Ruby's full powered Type B weapon on the first level during the swarm of enemies before your second encounter with the Yeti-Snow Machine. The amount of enemies and the use of lasers should keep the multiplier for more then enough time.

Don't Let Me Go 15 Hold onto an enemy for 10 seconds or longer with the anchor using Ruby.
Stage 3 is the easiest to get this. Latch your anchor onto one of the two circular, multi-armed mini-boss robots and stay close. You should get this without problem.

Another easy place to earn this achievement is on stage 1. Wait for the Yeti-Snow Machine's first appearance (first 30 seconds of stage) then immediately latch onto his face with the anchor. Make sure you aren't firing any guns at his head, as this can blow off his head before the 10 seconds is up. Don't grab any weapon upgrades at the beginning of the stage and you probably wont be able to blow up his head within 10 seconds. (Thanks to MyAbsolution for this tip).

Untouchable 15 Repel 20 or more enemy bullets using Tempest.
The best areas to try are during the snake mini-boss in level 2, or during the swarm of disc robots before the boss in stage 3. Guide the bullets so as to hold them on the screen for longer. Collect more, and don't get hit or you will lose the bullets. Also, in the first level there are a few areas with two crab robots. Wait for them to shoot their spray of bullets. Patiently watch for the graze barrier to catch all the bullets, and release.

How to repel bullets using Tempest: While shooting, let the bullets enter the invisible spherical shield that surround you, when they turn green simply stop shooting (releasing the right stick) and they will be "repelled".

Youtube Video of the achievement by Todayisforgotten:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=GQgf8tz4cNU

Comment by Todayisforgotten: That last section before the video ends is the optimal place to acquire the achievement.

Incredible Restraint 15 Go 30 seconds without swinging Sensei's sword.
Simply avoid using Sensei's sword weapon for 30 seconds, the first stage is the easiest to get this. If you are worried, don't shoot anything and just dodge all enemy fire and targets until it unlocks.

This is not for Incredible Restraint. Rather it's an overall boss guide by SaintaClause from Youtube:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=yLAzdM-Ocx8

The graze shield is automatic, you'll notice it when the bullets turn green around Tempest, release the right stick or flick the right stick to send them flying back. Bullets will continue to graze until you're either hit, or they leave his graze area.

How to repel 20 bullets using Tempest:
While shooting in the middle of two braincrabs in Stage 1 (look at the shitty pics), let their 20 bullets (10 each) enter the invisible spherical shield that surround you. When all the bullets turn green simply stop shooting (releasing the right stick) and they will be "repelled". Achievement unlocked.

A sweet spot to get Untouchable is the end of stage one, the last bit before you get outside again. There you can get yourself between 3-4 braincrabs. Just deflect some bullets (there should be plenty!) and the achievement is yours.

Question. After 300 minutes of play you unlock the free play I see, unlimited credits. Can this be used to obtain the master achievements or is it strictly for novelty play?

As in master achivements like complete game without continuing with each 4 characters? Yea any amount of credits wont help you complete those.

My advice: just keep practicing arcade over and over again, learn the spawn points of the enemies and know where the health is. Sensei is simple to complete without dying, that sword can block bullets and the big plasma crap. The others may take some practice. I got them all eventually.

I haven't been able to test that myself yet, if anyone manages to do this and can verify that would be awesome.

Another question I have is whether or not you need to start the game with the character you want the master achievement for. If you don't, you could easily do the same trick as mentioned in another thread for unlocking the two characters easily, since beating the game with Tempest is 99.9% impossible.

Changing characters would involve using a continue, which means what you suggest will not work. :|

Yeah, it won't work so easily I'm afraid. You need to play through each char 100% without dying to unlock the master achievements for each.

I'm the one who's edited this guide so I have one question. You say that the meteor becomes a problem in Stage 4. What should be done in this case then? How do we make the meteor "not a concern" if you will?

Added in tactics for the meteor swarm during the final boss. The orbs can actually be used as shield to destroy the meteors, as meteors that hit the orbs are destroyed on impact. Knocking the orbs around with gunfire to make them mobile shields can be very useful, and lifesaving when it gets hectic.

I'm guessing that yes you can, but that the 2nd player needs to die out and not continue as the game is ending. Today I was playing on my save as R.A.D. and my friend was playing as Sensei, and he didn't get the achievement for not swinging his sword. So then I figured that it must just have been because it's in multiplayer. But then I finally died for the first time on the boss of the 3rd level and as soon as I died and wasn't a player (I hadn't hit start to continue yet), the achievement unlocked for him as Sensei.

I haven't had a chance to try this yet, but if it is possible to co-op the whole way through the game and then let the 2nd player die out on the final boss and let the other player finish without having died... that would make the master achievements a heck of a lot easier.

If someone has another competent player to beat the game with, someone should test this. My friend won't be around to play with me for a while. Probably it's best to have the 2nd person be Sensei because they act as a good shield.

Confirmed and the answer is no. The reason being is that even though the 2nd player stays failed out, the "game type" at the bottom of the screen is still multiplayer even after a new level starts and the achievement says it needs to be in arcade.

Sucks! I was hoping it'd let me fudge it! Though now that I know you can stand in the middle of the level 3 boss during it's 2nd pattern, I'm sure I can get the master achievements once I get around to playing the game again.
