How to Change Achievement Language

Everyone knows (or should know) that to boost achievements in Halo 3 you change your language to some remote country (usually South Korea) and then you meet up with people there and boost.

But here's the problem. The achievements you get are in Korean!

How to fix this?

1.) Go to the Xbox dashboard.

2.) Navigate to the 'Marketplace' blade.

3.) Press the 'X' button on your controller to sign out (you have to confirm this, say yes).

4.) Go to "Recover Account".

5.) Put in your Xbox Live Gamertag and go to the next step

6.) Put in your NET password and ID and then continue.

7.) After it recovers (should take a while) VOILA! ALL THE ACHIEVEMENTS ARE IN ENGLISH (or whatever language your Xbox is)!

Note: You do not have to delete your account before you do this, and someone does NOT have to recover it first.

He's not saying that he used that method to gain the achievements anywhere in that post. Don't grill him. Besides, this site's dedicated to helping those gamers who aren't as "skillful" as you, and so this method's fine for those that need a little push in the right direction.

Nice guide, Supa Pimp. I know for a fact that this has been discussed before, but I suppose it's good to have it set in stone to help reduce the number of new posts asking about the achievements.

Showing someone a strategy to beat a level is helping. Boosting is cheating imo.

I'll leave him alone but I just don't believe in it.

Then don't post. No one asked for your opinion about it and although you are indeed free to speak your mind here it's counterintuitive to the purpose of the site. For the record, I have yet to get a Halo 3 achievement non-legit, but I don't enjoy playing Lone Wolves (I prefer to play together with my friends) so when I can I would like to get my last achievement by boosting (Overkill) because I don't want to have to play a bunch of Lone Wolves and get overly lucky to get it. I've gotten plenty of Overkills in my time, that's not the issue.

He's not telling people to boost. He is just showing how people can change the achievement language. Not how to boost.

Yeah, Its just a guide to change the language from Japanese (Or some other language) to English. In no way does that encourage boosting or 'cheating' as you would say.

Thanks for all your support guys, I'm glad you find it helpful.

killing 4 out of the other 5 people in the map within 4 seconds of each other is a little bit more than just the slightest bit of skill, especially if youve already ranked your LW up to the mid thirties

MOST of the people I know whove done it legit have sat back and swooped in on kills in a KotH match, which is hardly f'in sporting like you make it out to be.

so... in conslusion.... go guzzle a douche

It's not cheating if you actually did what the achievement description says you should do. Rather, that's the official viewpoint of the site. But there are achievements out there that are made to be boosted, Halo most likely included. Games like Shadowrun have achievements for scoring on CTF with 4 enemies within 20 meters of the goal... without being shot. That's impossible. Call of Juarez (I think) has an achievement for killing 3 enemies with a single bullet. On both of these, the points rewarded does not match the skill needed to do this without boosting. In the same vein, 5 points for killing all 4 of your opponents in a row? Come on...

The bad thing about recovering is that you lose all your offline achievements.

What do you mean? If I unlocked some achievements offline, then sign into XBL with same game, doesn't it automatically update? So as long as I log online with the game, my achievements should stay because my gamescore already shows the new count. After that I should be able to recover with everything intact right?

Or am I not getting something here?

Only if you never logged on to update them before hand.

Which I'm sure most people are smart enough to do.

Otherwise, yes, you'll lose your offline achievements.

oDD Reflex, you don't even have to play the game. If you earned an achievement offline, it will stay on your memory card or HDD until your profile is deleted. If you sign in to Xbox Live after getting offline achievements before recovering your account, you'll still have those achievements.

i.e. I recently completed Halo 3 on Legendary whilst offline. If I were to recover my account without logging in first, I'd lose that achievement. It doesn't matter if you play the game or not, achievements are uploaded to Microsoft's servers when you sign in.

Thanks for the breakdown man, I already gave this a try the other day. I figured if I lose'em its just another reason to play those games again There are very few games/achievements I have that I dont like.

With Halo3 its almost impossible to lose achievements because you'll be online going to different language region to play and as soon as you get it, its done deal.
