Assassin's Creed II is in a different league to the other games. Brotherhood is a close second though.

I'm with you on this one. Big fan of the series although I thought 3 was disappointing. Looking forward to 4 I think it will be the first game I play on my shiny new X1!

AC1 was the only good AC game this generation. I did like the boats in AC3 but that's ALL I liked about that game.

Altair was cooler than Ezio and Connor combined and more interesting. The setting was much more appealing.

I'm with Bloodring on this one. Ezio is 6 BILLION times a better character than Altair. His personality is unmatched between the three assassins.

Plus, the Rennassiance in Europe was such a better setting than that of AC1.

I absolutely loved the first one. There were a couple of glitches with the flags but it was my personal favourite out of all the series.

Stopped watching when they rated AC 3 above the original Assassins Creed. I don't have to get into why....

I'm gonna be that guy and say that I hated the first AC, come to think of it. The combat IMO felt static and it was so repetitive. Go into city, find info on target, kill him, rinse and repeat 7 times, PLOT TWIST..., do steps 1-3 again, watch terrible ending. Alta´r was so boring and he had the most unfitting American accent (until Revelations lol).

That being said, it was a very unique game. It had a cool premise. I'm very glad that AC2 expanded on everything that made AC1 unique. For that reason, AC2 is one of my all-time favorite games.

You can be that guy....and I agree it was repetitive, but the story of AC was the foundation for all the rest of the games. I find it funny for people to say they didn't like the story of the first one but like one of the other games story better.

I chose 2 simply because it excelled past all my expectations.
I absolutely hated the first when I first played it, I didn't like many of the feature, it was repetitive, water... and so forth. AC:2 fixed almost all of my gripes and it was amazing. Since then the gameplay's improved massively, but no game is as impressive to me as this was.

Aside from that, I'd have to go with AC:3, the character was awful, but I loved the environments and the ship. Hopefully Black flag will be even better.

Let me clarify my hate for AC3. Overall it's a decent game....it's just a horrible Assassins Creed game.

AC2 is my favorite. Brotherhood is so similiar that I┤ve could picked both, but 2 was released first and the wow factor also counts.

I haven't played AC3 yet but when I saw you're going to be on a ship, I really thought they should have made it a spin-off series and just call it Pirates Creed.

Funny - I wonder if 2 is truly the best or it has the most votes because is was Free with Gold - on a side note it's the only one I have played, but Black Flag looks amazing.

But, I enjoy all of them.

I actually agree with IGN's sentiments for once. AC3 and AC were pretty much equal for me though.

Nope. Bought it from a bargain bin at GameStop one day and loved it to death. Then I sold it and bought it on a Games on Demand sale for $9.99. I even have both of the DLC's even though they have no achievements; I love the game that much. It becoming free for half a month was just an insult to me.

I disagree that AC2 had a better setting or story than AC1. The Crusade setting is my favorite, and while the story isn't fantastic, it's better than any of the other games in the series, and the ending is by far my favorite. The game's downfall is absolutely the repetitive gameplay, absurd number of collectibles, and cardboard cutout protagonist. I would rather have played as Malik.
Assassin's Creed 2 had fantastic gameplay and a very charismatic protagonist. But the story was schizophrenic and forgettable. The Italian Renaissance was a fascinating time in history to explore, though. Choosing to like the Crusades better is simply my own preference, and not for any real reason.
