Achievement Guide

Clingy
25 Kill 15 enemies in a row by grappling them on any difficulty
A popular location for this achievement is at the subway in the third mission.
There will be a guy with his back to you at the start, so grapple him first (with the B button).
Continue through this area, using only grapple to kill each enemy.
By the time you get to the end, you should have the achievement.
For some reason, it often won't let you grapple an enemy.
Instead of standing in front of him ramming on the B button until you die, run away and behind cover then try again.
Also, there is one grapple animation where your character ends up shooting the enemy.
This still counts as a grapple, don't worry.

Combat Veteran
25 Kill 250 enemies in the campaign on any difficulty
See “One Man Army” further below.

Combat Experience
10 Kill 50 enemies in the campaign on any difficulty
See “One Man Army” further below.

Dead-eye
50 Complete any mission with an accuracy of 80% or higher on Normal or higher difficulty
This one may be tough.
If you try it on the first mission, avoid shooting the parachuting enemies at the beginning because it will lower your accuracy rating pretty badly.
Grenades don't affect your accuracy, so throw lots of those, use grapple effectively and fire slowly with single shot assault rifles.
You can check your accuracy any time by pressing the start button and going to stats.
It is cumulative however, meaning if you reload a checkpoint, the stats will still include any missed shots before you reloaded the checkpoint.

Defender
20 Help defend the barricade in New York on Normal or higher difficulty
Story related so you can't miss it. Unlocked at the end of the second mission.

Dolly Madison Award
20 Save the Constitution from being burned on Normal or higher Difficulty
In the mission "Assassination Plan" of act 2, you will come to a room where a Nazi is burning some books in a furnace.
The room is somewhat hidden, and comes right after going up the first elevator following the three bunker battles.
Kill the book burner and look beside him, there is a piece of paper that you can pick up with the B button.

Environmentalism
15 Complete 40 environmental or grapple kills on any difficulty
You will likely get this one while working on “Clingy”, but if not just keep restarting a mission you're familiar with and grappling every possible enemy with the B button.
You also get progress toward this by blowing up explosive barrels and killing enemies, but grappling is a bit easier.

Exploding Monkey
20 Kill at least Four enemies with one explosion on any difficulty
There are quite a few places you can get this, and it is possible by either throwing a grenade or blowing up barrels.
1. Near the end of the first mission, there is a truck with a couple of barrels on the back of it and enemies nearby.
2. In the second mission, you can throw grenades over the barricades.
3. Near the beginning of the fifth mission, four enemies come out of a door that you open with a switch so chuck a grenade.
4.
In the fifth mission, try running towards the bunkers like a madman and throwing grenades up the sides.
5. Also in the fifth mission, you can throw a grenade into the elevator where a ton of enemies pour out while your buddies arm the bombs to blow up the white house.

Going Nuclear
30 Rewire an Atom Bomb on Normal or Higher difficulty
Story related so you can't miss it. Unlocked at the end of the sixth mission.

Gravity is a Harsh Mistress
5 Toss a paratrooper onto the streets below New York on any Difficulty
Basically story related, likely impossible to miss.
At the very beginning of the game when a paratrooper lands in front of you just grapple him with B then throw him off by pressing UP on the D-PAD.

I Saved the General
20 Rescue General Donnelly from the D.C. courthouse on Normal or higher difficulty
Story related so you can't miss it. Unlocked during the fifth mission.

Impeached
30 Oust the false President from office on any difficulty
Story related so you can't miss it. Unlocked at the end of the fifth mission.

Master Sniper
35 Kill 10 enemies in a row with a headshot on any difficulty
Perhaps the most difficult single player achievement.
Although there is some uncertainty with the specific requirements, I suggest you use a sniper rifle only and try not to miss any shots in between to be safe.
It also may not work on Easy, so you'd might as well try it on Normal.
Note: Some people insist that no matter what they do, it simply won't unlock.
If this happens to you, try the standard things that fix other achievements (clearing your cache, restarting your 360, etc.) or try a different sniper location.

Here are a few places where you can try to get it:

1. Load the third mission and get to the part where you pick up a sniper in the subway.
Start by getting headshots on the enemies in here then continue to the next area, killing the enemies on the rooftops as well as the ones in the street after shimmying across the buildings.
There are more than enough enemies to get the achievement, even if/when you reload the checkpoint before the blimp comes and miss out on the enemies in the subway.

2. Load the seventh mission and keep a sniper you pick up shortly before going up an elevator.
Directly after you exit the elevator is when you should start getting the headshots.
To further clarify, this is also the spot where you must destroy the assault blimps for an unrelated achievement.
After killing the two enemies right away (one on the left, one on the right) and the two at the end of the first walkway, kill the ones in the assault blimps if possible then look up to the higher level of the bridge on the left and headshot the ones that group together.
In total, this must be over 15 enemies so if you don't get it, just reload the checkpoint and try again.

3. Load the sixth mission and pick up the sniper on the boxes right in front of you after you parachute down.
Carefully headshot the enemies by the sandbags and on the surrounding wall of the roof.
Eventually they will stop coming, and a door will open and more enemies will pour out.
Headshot them as well and if you don't have it after this, just reload the level and try again.

Refer to this thread for more help, if needed.

Need a Ride?
20 Meet up with the rescue team in Washington, D.C. on Normal or Higher difficulty
Story related so you can't miss it. Unlocked at the end of the fourth mission.

Oh, the Humanity!
30 Destroy all the assault blimps at the Tower Bridge on any difficulty
In the mission "Leviathan" of act 3, where you must board the blimp, look out carefully for this one.
When you're running through the level, pick up and save as many rocket launchers as you can until you get to a part with an elevator.
Exit the elevator, turn to the right and you will see two assault blimps off to your right, firing at you on the bridge.
Take them both out, they require one or two rockets each.

One Man Army
45 Kill 400 enemies in the campaign on any difficulty
This achievement should be unlocked before the end of the campaign the first time through.
If you don't get it for whatever reason, just load up any mission and keep killing enemies, it will count your kills from before.

Presidential Citizens Medal
75 Complete the campaign on Hard difficulty
See "Presidential Medal of Freedom".

Presidential Medal for Merit
35 Complete the campaign on Normal difficulty
See "Presidential Medal of Freedom".

Presidential Medal of Freedom
100 Complete the game on Insane Difficulty
These achievements are not stackable, so it is recommended that you start on Normal.
The enemies are just as slow and stupid on every difficulty, the only difference is that you get hurt more and die a lot quicker, so just be careful and use cover wisely.
If you're wondering, this is nowhere near as bad as Call of Duty's veteran.

It has been confirmed that you can simply load the very last level of the game on each difficulty and get the achievements for that difficulty.

Reservation for One
5 Make your way down to Hotel Langteau on Normal or higher difficulty
Story related, so you can't miss it. Unlocks near the beginning of the game.

Run!
25 Sprint for a total of 30 minutes throughout the campaign on any difficulty
This achievement is combined throughout all of your playthroughs and you can check your progress in the pause menu, under stats.
30 minutes is the equivalent of 1800 seconds.
You should get it before the end of your first time through the campaign, but if you're close to the end and don't have it or want it early just keep sprinting up and down a long stretch of ground or even into a wall.

Save Yourself
25 Escape from New York on any Difficulty
Story related, so you can't miss it. Unlocked at the end of the third mission.

Sharpshooter
10 Kill all the paratroopers as you make your way down the skyscraper on any difficulty
At the very beginning of the game, you pick up your first gun and get on a lift on the side of a building.
Look behind yourself and kill all four paratroopers as they float down.
It is not required that you shoot the ones in the distance.

Stowaway
30 Sneak onto the Zeppelin on Normal or higher difficulty
Story related, so you can't miss it. Unlocked at the end of the seventh mission.

Swirly Time!
5 Drown a German in a toilet in the Tower of London on any Difficulty
Look carefully on the sixth mission or you may miss it.
A little while into the mission, you open a secret elevator and go up... maybe down.
When you reach the top, maybe bottom, the first room on the left has two enemies in it.
This room has an attached bathroom, where a Nazi is sitting on the toilet.
Grapple him with B and press UP on the D-PAD to dunk him.

Turning Point
25 Complete the campaign on any difficulty
Story related, so you can't miss it.
I recommend skipping the easy difficulty for a bunch of reasons.. just trust me.
Do this on Normal.

TV Repairs
5 Smash an enemy's head through a TV in the White House on any Difficulty
Look carefully on the fifth mission or you may miss it.
You will come to a kitchen where a Nazi has his back to you, standing in front of a television.
Grapple him with B and press UP on the D-PAD to smash his head through the television.

First Time for Everything
5 Finish a multiplayer game.
Simple, just go into multiplayer and find or host a game, staying in the match until it ends.

Killer
20 Get 100 ranked match kills in any mode
See "Maybe I Should Go Outside...".

Killer Instinct
30 Get 500 ranked match kills in any mode
See "Maybe I Should Go Outside...".

Maybe I Should Go Outside…
40 Get 2500 ranked match kills in any mode
Will take quite a while, just join or host ranked matches until you get it.
Recommended weapons are the Thompson and the .45 Cal Lever Action Rifle because everything else seems useless.

It is possible to boost for this, and that may be the best choice if there's literally nobody playing.
Unless you have a group of very quick and committed boosters that are absolutely flawless, it will take the same amount of time no matter how many players you have.
So it is recommended to do one on one matches so you don't have to worry about everyone else getting their turn and/or leaving.
A good map to boost on is Lab Rats, and if you crouch down next to the stairs in the hallway next to the 'radio room' on the second (middle) floor, your friend will spawn nearby and you can get up to 45 kills in a 10 minute match.

MVP
30 Win an 8-player ranked or player match in Team Deathmatch mode with the highest score
Host or join a player or ranked match and as long as it finishes with 8 players (and you get the highest score while on the winning team), you will get the achievement.
Remember, if you start with 8 but finish with 7, it won't count.
A good idea to get people to stay is to play short player matches and build up to 8 players as you go.
Once you have 8 players make the next match even shorter and win quick.

Next Time Take the Stairs
5 Fall to your death during a multiplayer game.
Quite fun, really.
Just join any multiplayer match and jump off a high building, cliff, ledge, etc.
The Ghetto map has one popular building that you will die from jumping off and Lab Rats has a fall in the 'launch room' that will kill you if you're injured before jumping.

One in the Chamber
10 Kill a player in a ranked match with the last bullet in a pistol clip.
You can get this by boosting with a friend or even finding someone who wants it in a ranked match.
Just fire away all of your shots except for two and then put those last two bullets in their head up close and you will get it.
However, you may want to be host when you do this because otherwise your bullets that are being fired straight into his head one foot away may not register if he's the host.
If you really want to, you can get it the 'real' way, just shoot away all of your pistol bullets except for one and when you feel an enemy is really weak switch back to your pistol and fire.

Pwnt
15 Finish an 8-player ranked or player match in Deathmatch mode with the highest number of kills

Stayin' Alive
40 Finish a ranked match in Deathmatch mode without dying.
Join or host any ranked match, you may want to host one with a low time and/or score limit.
Hide in a corner or just play very carefully and you will get this.
Remember to do it in deathmatch, not team deathmatch.

Team Player
25 Win 20 ranked matches in Team Deathmatch mode.
Appears to be glitched in a good way, in that you will get it way before winning 20 matches... even if you lose.
Just play ranked team deathmatch a few times and win them and you will get this.

Uberdork
25 Win 5 ranked matches in Deathmatch mode.
Appears to be glitched in a good way, in that you will get it before winning 5 matches... even if you lose.
Just play ranked deathmatch a few times and try to win them and you will get this.

World Tour
15 Finish a multiplayer game on every map in every mode.
For this achievement, you will need to play through all four maps in both Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, totaling eight matches.
You could find a boosting buddy and run through all of the maps on each mode in short player matches.

Very nice guide, definitely worthy of a sticky. I think the ranked kill achievements are going to be so diffiicult in this game unless a ton more people start playing! I looked at the leaderboard last night, there was only 8 people on the ranked list, lol.

Yeah they wouldn't be so bad if there were even 20 people playing at a time.
And the leaderboards seem broken, only 3 of my 20 or so matches have registered. Hopefully that doesn't mean my achievements for kills don't count either. (I doubt it though).
The broken leaderboards may also be why we're getting the 5 or 20 wins way sooner than we should.

Pretty sweet guide. You need the level for "Reservation for One", and do "Impeached" and "I saved the General" unlock at the same time? Other than those two, are you done with the guide?

What would you say the length of time to get 1000 is and how tough?? You could recommend it in the quick 1000 thread if you're so inclined. (900+ in less than 25 hours qualifies it)

I copied the list from the achievement list on this site, except I knew the one achievement isn't real. I don't fully understand the one I missed, so point it more specifically and tell me how the points would be re-allocated... they currently add up to 1000.
And you get "I Saved the General" rather early into the level, while "Impeached" comes at the end of it... it's a long level.

It's definitely not recommended for the quick 1000.
Assuming you don't do the glitch for playing the three difficulties (I won't be), that right there is near 20 hours.
Multiplayer has some really difficult achievements, you get kills far slower than Gears of War so even though the 2500 kills is a quarter of the 10000 kills for Seriously, the time it takes may end up being the same.
Sorry if that wasn't the best example.

That reminds me... should I include an ordered list for how you'll get them in campaign? I won't post the pictures, description or guide but just the name in a list format.

Hey Whooah, most people who are going straight for points will definately use that trick and you should note it in your guide. And if you could get more than 900 or more in less than 25 hours using this method, I would say it belongs on that list. I know you are not inclined to use that trick to get the achievements, but believe me... 90% of the people who are trying to play this game for points will use it.

And you should definately order the achievements in how they will most likely unlock. I think every guide should do this. It would save me hours of time reformatting guides from this site if they were like this. Check out Ratatouille for example, that game was a mess before they reordered them.

Well I disagree with part of your first paragraph just because an easy 900 is completely different than an easy 1000.
I'd rather have 0 than 900 so it makes no difference if someone says I can get 950 really easily but the last 50 will take 300 hours.
But I will post that trick once I confirm it works as I may do it for hard.

And I'm not 'allowed' to post the guide itself in that order as it must be in the same order as the achievement list and XBox.com
But I can make a list for the achievement titles only and people will save some time from the process we both seem to go through, and just look up those achievement hints in the guide and paste them under the title in the ordered list.
(That may have been confusing).

No prob, I understood you. Yeah an ordered list would be nice too even if it's not the whole guide.

Yeah I frequent the Quick 1000 thread and I try to make sure it's up-to-date with every single Xbox360 game that you can get at least 900 from in under 25 hours. That's why I was checking this forum to see what this game is like. It's the best thread in the site (IMO) and it's near and dear to me. Sorry if I didn't make it more apparent that you only need to have 900 to qualify it for the list. I am the same as you though, I'm a completionist. But most people aren't so we have the 900+/1000 rule for that thread.

Sharpshooter
10 Kill all the paratroopers as you make your way down the skyscraper on any difficulty
At the very beginning of the game, you pick up your first gun and get on a lift on the side of a building. Look behind yourself and kill all 4 paratroopers as they float down. It is not required that you shoot the ones in the distance.

Reservation for One
5 Make your way down to Hotel Langteau on Normal or higher difficulty
Story related, so you can't miss it. I forget where it unlocks.

Defender
20 Help defend the barricade in New York on Normal or higher difficulty
Story related so you can't miss it. Unlocked at the end of the second mission.

Clingy
25 Kill 15 enemies in a row by grappling them on any difficulty
A popular location for this achievement is at the subway in Act 1: Chapter 3. There will be a guy with his back to you at the start, so grapple him first (with the B button). Continue through this area, using only grapple to kill each enemy. By the time you get to the end, you should have the achievement. However, you can do this achievement anywhere in the game with lots of enemies in close quarters. For some reason, it often won't let you grapple an enemy. Instead of standing in front of him ramming on the B button until you die, run away and behind cover then try again. Also, there is one grapple animation where your character ends up shooting the enemy. This still counts as a grapple, don't worry.
Note: Until confirmed, it is recommended that you do this achievement on Normal or higher, because it may not work on Easy despite the achievement description.

AND/OR

Master Sniper
35 Kill 10 enemies in a row with a headshot on any difficulty
Perhaps the most difficult single player achievement. As of yet, it hasn't been fully confirmed the specific requirements to get it. We're pretty sure that you need to use a sniper and can't miss any shots in between. It also may not work on Easy, so try it on Normal.
Load up Act 1: Chapter 3 and get to the part where you pick up a sniper in the subway. Very carefully headshot the four or five enemies in this area then move forward. You'll find yourself in the middle of a street with six snipers in the buildings around you. Again, very carefully get headshots on each of them. If you had to load a checkpoint and lost the other headshots in the subway, don't worry. Continue across the pole and there will be four or five regular enemies that come in on ground level, giving you 11-16 total. Just be persistent and keep reloading the checkpoint before you destroy the blimp. Refer to this thread for more help.

Save Yourself
25 Escape from New York on any Difficulty
Story related, so you can't miss it. Unlocked at the end of the third level.

Need a Ride?
20 Meet up with the rescue team in Washington, D.C. on Normal or Higher difficulty
Story related so you can't miss it. Unlocked at the end of the fourth mission.

I Saved the General
20 Rescue General Donnelly from the D.C. courthouse on Normal or higher difficulty
Story related so you can't miss it. Unlocked during the fifth mission.

Dolly Madison Award
20 Save the Constitution from being burned on Normal or higher Difficulty
In the mission “Assassination Plan” of act 2, you will come to a room where a Nazi is burning some books in a fireplace. The room is somewhat hidden, and comes right after going up the first elevator after passing the three bunker battles. Kill the book burner and look beside him, there is a piece of paper that you can pick up with the B button. Achievement unlocked.

Impeached
30 Oust the false President from office on any difficulty
Story related so you can't miss it. Unlocked at the end of the fifth mission.

Swirly Time!
5 Drown a German in a toilet in the Tower of London on any Difficulty
Look carefully on the sixth mission or you may miss it. There's a room with an attached bathroom, where a Nazi is sitting on the toilet. Grapple him with B and press UP on the D-PAD to either get revenge on the bullies from your past or re-live your memories of tormenting other kids.

Going Nuclear
30 Rewire an Atom Bomb on Normal or Higher difficulty
Story related so you can't miss it. Unlocked at the end of the sixth mission.

Oh, the Humanity!
30 Destroy all the assault blimps at the Tower Bridge on any difficulty
This one is not story related. On the level Leviathan, where you must board the blimp look out carefully for this one. When you're running through the level, pick up and save as many rocket launchers as you can until you get to a part with an elevator. Exit the elevator, turn to the right and you will see two assault blimps off to your right, firing at you on the bridge. Take them both out, they require one or two rockets each. Achievement unlocked.

Stowaway
30 Sneak onto the Zeppelin on Normal or higher difficulty
Story related, so you can't miss it. Unlocked at the end of the seventh (aka second last) level.

Turning Point
25 Complete the campaign on any difficulty
Story related, so you can't miss it. I recommend skipping the easy difficulty for a bunch of reasons.. just trust me. Do this on Normal.

Presidential Medal for Merit
35 Complete the campaign on Normal difficulty
See “Presidential Medal of Freedom”.

Presidential Citizens Medal
75 Complete the campaign on Hard difficulty
See “Presidential Medal of Freedom”.

Presidential Medal of Freedom
100 Complete the game on Insane Difficulty
These achievements are not stackable, so it is recommended you start on Normal and work your way up because you'll have to do them all anyway. The enemies are just as slow and stupid on every difficulty, the only difference is that you get hurt more and die a lot quicker, so just be careful and use cover wisely. If you're wondering, this difficulty is nowhere near as bad as Call of Duty's veteran. It has been confirmed that you can simply load the last level of the last act on each difficulty and get the achievements for that difficulty.

RANDOM!
Combat Experience
10 Kill 50 enemies in the campaign on any difficulty
See “One Man Army” further below.
I got this whilst defending the barricade for the Defender achievement.

Combat Veteran
25 Kill 250 enemies in the campaign on any difficulty
See “One Man Army” further below.
You should have this at the beginning-ish of the 5th level, if not before.

One Man Army
45 Kill 400 enemies in the campaign on any difficulty
This achievement should be unlocked before the end of the campaign the first time through. If you don't get it for whatever reason, just load up any level and keep killing enemies, it will count your kills from before.
See Green. Dunce.

Dead-eye
50 Complete any mission with an accuracy of 80% or higher on Normal or higher difficulty
This one may be tough. If you try it on the first mission, avoid shooting the parachuting enemies at the beginning because it will lower your accuracy rating pretty bad. Grenades don't affect your accuracy, so throw lots of those, use grapple effectively and fire slowly with single shot assault rifles. You can check your accuracy any time by pressing the start button and going to stats. It is cumulative however, meaning if you reload a checkpoint, the stats will still remember the time before you died when you hopped on the turret and mowed down ten enemies.

There are quite a few places you can get this, and it is possible from either throwing a grenade or blowing up barrels.
1. Near the end of the first level, there is a truck with a couple of barrels on the back of it and enemies nearby.
2. In the second level, you can throw grenades over the barricades.
3. Near the beginning of the fifth level, four enemies come out of a door that you open with a switch so chuck a grenade.
4. In the fifth level, try running towards the bunkers like a madman and throwing grenades up the sides.
5. Also in the fifth level, you can throw a grenade into the elevator where a ton of enemies pour out while your buddies arm the bombs to blow up the white house.
I also got this whilst defending the barricade for Defender.

All credit goes to Wooah for the guide and green text. I simply ordered them. It may not be exact, so correct me and I will change it. However, it is enough to go on. I know there are no pictures. Ask yourself if you really need them.

Thanks for the help, Bodangles.
Perhaps when the guide is posted on the main page, a link could be added at the top or bottom leading directly to your post by itself.

I have also updated several of the achievements in the guide based on information discovered recently by myself and others.
If you're up to it Bodangles, could you find the ones I edited and edit your list as well?

I didn't re-read the entire guide like a novel or anything, but I picked up on changes to Run! and Presidential Medal of Freedom, so i changed those green thingies. Other than that, I think we are still good. If you spot something let me know. And Birky calls you teh gaming g0d.

Nice guide, thanks man! I was in that fire room twice in the White House and killed the guy by throwing him into the fire but didn't see the Constitution.

i got mine from the end of the barricade mish act 1 - where you blow up 2 tanks - before you go to far forward where you get knocked down - you can get it there easy - since they keep spawning - they will come out 2 at a time - but might go 1 at a time if one gets stuck somewhere -

the ten head shots in a row achievement can be unlocked on easy just go through the begging of the subway mission and when in the subway start by shooting the guy with his back to you in the head then work through the level you can miss as long as you don't hit the enemy anywhere else on the body apart from the head

After you beat the game once on any difficulty, you may load the last level on a higher difficulty and beat it (even with bonus codes on) to get the Medal achievements. And if you want to get the most achievements out of your first run, look at my posts above for the order of which they go in. Play on Normal
