Waylander101's Gamercard
Anyone got the UK release of this game yet?

1. Is it any good.

2. How easy/hard are the achievements to get?

I've just got mine through the post this morning. I have both a PAL and NTSC machine so I'll let you know if it works for you in the US.

Yeah, mine arrived today too. It just sumps you into the middle of the game, with no objectives or anyway of knowing how to complete them even if you knew what they were. Does anyone know of a decent guide for people getting started?

Hi Guys, This Game is very easy to play if you follow Borandi's Guide,
The achievements are very easy to get and you can get the full 1000 in maybe 20 hours just taken to finish off the missions. I found a UK copy in Game no problem. Unless your really into this kind of game then iwould say to Rent it but its a decent game if you remember the Original for the PC.

Hope this helps and if you need anything else about it feel free to ask or PM me.

The interface is INCREDIBLY unfriendly which will cause you lots of grief, especially if you try and approach it from the perspective of other transport games like Transport Tycoon, Railroad Tycoon or similar.

Basic concepts are:
Build lots of apartments and housing in the suburbs
Build lots of offices, stores and the lot (workplaces, basically) by the downtown.
Run trains scheduled to start leaving the burbs in the morning, and leaving downtown in the evening.

You also need to build a factory or port to get construction materials, and run freight trains to collect the materials there and deliver them to where you want to build. Buy some land by those stations which will function as your storage for the materials.

A double line railway has much higher capacity than just a single line, as it allows a train to travel in each direction.

Each train needs a 'path', which you set by telling it which direction to get at each switch/points.

You can build tracks off the edge of the map and your trains will go off, collect passengers/freight and then come back with it. You can also send trains laden with passengers/freight off the map and earn money. Assume they go to a neighbouring city.

Don't try and build junctions by using the dynamic track laying tool. Build just straight tracks to where you want them, and then use the tool that lets you select various types of junctions (crossovers, junctions, etc) to actually put them in place. I was so used to just dragging and dropping in stuff like Transport Tycoon that it took me forever to figure out how to do it!

These are just basic concepts, but they should help you get going. Make no mistake about it, the manual for this is terrible and only because I wasted hours of my childhood playing A-Train III (the Maxis import) that I understand all this.
