Just get into the corner and then keep tapping the right trigger(Accelerate) really fast.

also if your on default controls hold the A (back brake) button. this makes the bike alot less twitchy when your in the skid

This took a lot of practice and loads of failed attempts. There is another event in a different category (Acrobatics) that helped me learn how to skid more effectively.

Basically don't approach the corner how you would normally. Brake earlier, start to turn in, then start feathering the throttle to get the back tyre to slide out slightly. Keep pulling RT quickly and releasing as you see the back end moving out, then try to hold it while the left stick controls the direction. Turning slightly too far helps, because it will take you to the other side of the track, where you can then turn back and get another fraction of a second of skid.

On long bends keep the speed fairly low as it makes it easier to start a skid, and more time to react to over skidding and falling off. On the fast straights flicking the left stick right and left can trigger short skids at speed which correct themselves. These don't add much time, but a few of them can add half a second and it all comes in handy.

For Platinum on Assen you need 9 seconds of skid and finish the race.

i took it easy around the corners as i was always falling and on the straights i would double tap the accelerator and turn the bike and it will give you skid time i ended up with around 15 seconds when i was done
