Achievement Guide

MONOPOLY Achievement Guide
Made by Bishop24

Everybody Starts Somewhere-10 Buy your first property

Start a game up. And once the game starts simply roll the dice () when it is your turn. Now if you land on any property select on “Buy” and this achievement will unlock. This should be the first achievement that you get in this game.

*2 Controllers will work to help you get this achievement*

Now You're On Your Way-20 Own your first monopoly

Owning a Monopoly means you own all three of one color of property. For instance, lets say you play on the Classic Monopoly board and you land on and buy all of the red properties, which are Kentucky Avenue, Indiana Avenue, and Illinois Avenue. If you buy all three of those then you will then get a what the game calls a Monopoly. So simply buy all three of one color and the achievement will unlock.

*2 Controllers will work to help you get this achievement*

Climbing Your Way Up The Ladder-30 Build your first set of houses. Classic mode only.

This must be done by playing on the classic Monopoly board. If you play on any other board the achievement will not unlock. Once you buy all three of one color properties, you can then buy houses for those properties. To buy houses once you get done rolling select on “Account” instead of “Next Turn”. Now use to scroll to one of the properties you own all three of and hit . Now once you have done that simply hit on “Buy a set of houses” if you have enough money to buy a set. If you do not have enough money simply buy just 1 house and once you earn enough money buy a few more houses.

*2 Controllers will work to help you get this achievement*

The View From The Top-50 Build your first set of hotels. Classic mode only.

This achievement is similar to “Climbing Your Way Up the Ladder” but instead of buying a few houses you buy hotels. Before you can even think about buying hotels you must first buy all three of one color properties, which will then make those properties a Monopoly. Then you must have at least 4 houses on those properties before you can buy a hotel. Once you get 4 houses on each property and you have enough money to buy hotels, when it’s your turn roll the dice and after you roll select on “Account” then use to scroll over to the properties and hit to select the property. Once you have done that you should see the screen say somewhere in the middle about buying a set of hotels select on that and then hit “Done”. The achievement will unlock once you buy hotels for all three of those same colored properties.

*2 Controllers will work to help you get this achievement*

High Roller-10 Roll a double six

This achievement will just come by luck and chance as there is no sure fire way to roll a double six. Just play through a game and you should get this achievement before the game is over

Rolled To Jail-10 Roll three doubles in a row and get sent to jail

Once again another chance/luck achievement. When you roll a double you will then get to roll again, if you roll a double again you will once again get to roll again, but if you roll a third double you will be sent to jail. Once you roll three doubles the achievement will unlock.

Rolled To Freedom-10 Rolled a double to get out of jail

To get into jail you will need to roll three doubles in a row or land on the "Go to jail" spot on the board which is the third corner piece on the board. Once you are in jail, instead of selecting "Pay the bill" select "Roll the dice". You will then get one three turns to roll a double so you can get out of jail. Once you roll a double you will get out of jail and the achievement will unlock.

Globe Trotter-50 Land on every property on the World board

The World board is one of two boards that you can play on at the beginning of the game. Simply select on the "World Board" and once in a game keep rolling and playing the game until you land on every property. If you play the game all the way through you should easily get this achievement by the end of the game.

*2 Controllers will work to help you get this achievement*

Taking Sides-50 Own every property, including any ports and utilities, down one whole side of the board

You can get this by simply playing through a game or you can use 2 controllers and have all the players "Auction" every property they land on and have your player win the auctions until you own every property on one side of the board. Also, if you play a game with the family or the CPU and your opponent bankrupts you will then own every property on the board which will give you this achievement. This achievement is actually fairly easy and you should have it in no time.

*2 Controllers will work to help you get this achievement*

Transport King-20 Own the monopoly on the transport properties

The transport properties are the Railroad spots on the classic board and on the other boards are the spots in the middle of each row. You can get this achievement by playing a game vs the CPU and you purchasing all the transport properties or you can use 2 controllers and when Player 1 lands on the transport properties buy them and if Player 2 lands on the transport properties select on "Auction" and have Player 1 win the auction.

*2 Controllers will work to help you get this achievement*

You've Got The Power-20 Own the monopoly on the utilities

There are only 2 utility spots on each board. The utilities are the electricity and water spots on the classic board and are the 2nd spot on the 2nd row and 8th spot on the 3rd row on every other board. You can get this achievement by playing a game vs the CPU and you purchasing all the utility properties or you can use 2 controllers and when Player 1 lands on the utility properties buy them and if Player 2 lands on the utility properties select on "Auction" and have Player 1 win the auction.

*2 Controllers will work to help you get this achievement*

Deal Of The Century-20 Form a monopoly as a result of trading

To propose a trade when it's your turn roll the dice and then select on "Account". Now once there in the lower right corner it should say "Trade" scroll over to that by using and hit . Then simply move the cursor over to a property you would like to trade for then simply trade one of your properties or if you do not own any properties trade cash. To get a monopoly you will need all three of one color of properties, so make sure when you trade for a property you trade for a property you need that will help you form a Monopoly.

*2 Controllers will work to hel you get this achievement*

No Mercy-20 Be responsible for the bankruptcy of another player

To make another player go bankrupt you will need to have a few houses on some of your properties and maybe a few hotels. Now if they land on one of your properties and they have insufficient funds to pay you then they can hit the Bankrupt button and you will get this achievement. Use 2 controllers to get this achievement faster.

*2 controller will work to help you get this achievement*

Went For Broke-10 Bankrupted yourself out of the game for the first time

To go bankrupt have the 2nd controller buy a couple of properties and put some houses on them. Now have the 1st controller or Player 1 buy every property they land on and you should run out of money. So by either landing on Player 2's properties or buy not having any money you will then go bankrupt and get this achievement.

*2 controller will work to help you get this achievement*

A Good Start-10 Win your first mini-game in any mode of Richest

To play in Richest mode simply go to Main Menu > Richest Version. Then select your character and how easy you want the computer to be easy, medium, or hard. Obviously playing against the easy AI will make the achievement easier to get so select that as the computer difficulty. Now select any board to play on. You will then go into Richest Mode and ever player will roll 1 dice. After that you will then play a mini-game, win that mini-game and the achievement will unlock. There are more than just that one mini-game so if you do not win the first one just keep playing until you play another mini-game.

He Who Controls The Dice...50 Win every mini-game in a full game of Developer

To play in Developer Mode, simply go to Main Menu > Richest Version > select Developer. Now there will be 6 rounds in this mode meaning you will play 6 mini-games. All you have to do is win all 6 of the mini-games, they are all fairly easy and take little to no skill to complete and win. You do not have to win the whole entire game to get this achievement just simply win all 6 mini-games is all.

Last But Not Least-20 Win all the mini-games in a full game of Developer but don't finish first

To play in Developer Mode, simply go to Main Menu > Richest Version > select Developer. Do exactly the same thing as you did to get the "He who controls the dice" achievement above but this time do not win the full 6 round game. All you need to do is win all 6 mini-games and then lose purposely to get this achievement.

Taken A Chance-10 Take your first property from another player using Chance in any mode of Richest

To do this you will need to not be the player with the most money and you need to get a chance card after playing one of the mini-games. If you do those two things you will then get to take a property from another player since you got a chance card. Just simply select a property that is owned by one of the other players and the achievement will unlock.

Forcibly Formed-20 Form a monopoly in any mode of Richest by taking one or more of the properties from another player.

To play in Richest Mode go to Main Menu > Richest Version. To do this you will need to get a Chance card or a Community Chest card in Richest Mode and not be the player with the most money. If you get a Chance card you will only get to choose one property but if you get a Community Chest card you will get to choose three properties which will be the better of the two. If you own either Park Place or Boardwalk and another player owns the other property and you get a Chance card use it and choose one of those properties. If you get a Community Chest card, simply buy three of the same color properties and this achievement will unlock.

Dashed Hopes-10 Break up another player's Monopoly

The easiest way to do this is to play in Developer Mode. To play in Developer Mode, simply go to Main Menu > Richest Version > select Developer. Now once your opponent has a Monopoly (meaning that they own all of one color of properties). The properties will also have gold lining around them meaning that a player has a Monopoly on those properties. To break up a property when you get a Chance card or a Community Chest card simply select to own one of those gold lined properties and this achievement will unlock.

A Quick Victory-10 Win a game of Developer mode Richest

To play in Developer Mode, simply go to Main Menu > Richest Version > select Developer. There are 6 rounds in Developer Mode. Play against the Easy CPU and you should win with ease. After playing all 6 rounds and if you are in the lead with the most money this achievement will unlock.

Faster Better20 Win a game of Industrialist mode Richest

To play an Industrialist mode go to Main Menu > Richest Version > select Industrialist. The Industrialist mode consists of 9 rounds. Simply win the full game and you will unlock this achievement.

Becoming The Master-40 Win a game of Tycoon mode Richest

To play a game of Tycoon Mode go to Main Menu > Richest Version > select Tycoon. This mode consists of 12 rounds. If you do use 4 controllers make sure that Player 1 wins as I controlled all 4 players and when Player 2 won I did not get this achievement. Once in the game simply play all 12 rounds and win and the achievement will unlock.

The Underdog-50 Don't finish first in any mini-game but still win overall in any mode of Richest

Do this in Developer Mode, this mode is the shortest with only 6 rounds. You will play in 6 mini-games in this mode make sure you do not come in first in any of them but make sure you win the overall game after 6 rounds to get this achievement. When you select what dice to choose at the beginning choose the big number such as 4,5, or 6. Towards the end choose the small numbers so you do not have to pay the other players any rent.

From The Flames-50 Come from last in the previous round to win overall in any mode of Richest

To get this achievement simply play in Development Mode as there are fewer rounds to play and make sure that when Round 6 rolls around that you are in last place. Hopefully you are only in last place by a small margin. Now make sure that in Round 6 you come back and win. Once you come back and win the achievement will unlock.

You Are The Richest-100 Own every property on the board in any mode of Richest

This is by far the hardest achievement in this game as this will take some time. I suggest playing in Tycoon Mode as you play 12 rounds which will give you more time to own every property and you can trade properties in that mode which will also help. You will have to own every Railroad property, every utility property, and every color property to get this achievement. (The properties mentioned are all on the Classic board)

Started Your Empire-30 Build a set of houses in any mode of Richest

To build a set of houses in richest you must own all colors of the same property or have a Monopoly on them which can be identified by them having a gold lining around them. Then you must land on one of those properties you have Monopoly on. Once you land on one of them the game will automatically add houses to all of those properties and the achievement will unlock.

Established Your Hold-50 Build a set of hotels in any mode of Richest

I suggest playing Industrialist Mode or Tycoon Mode as Industrialist Mode has 9 rounds and Tycoon Mode has 12 rounds which should give you extra time to put hotels on your properties. Before you can put hotels on your property you need to have Monopoly on your properties first (which is identified with gold lining around their properties). After that the only way you can put up hotels is by you landing on your own properties and putting 4 houses on them first. Once you put up 4 houses and you land on that property again the game will automatically put up a hotel for you. You will need a hotel on each of the Monopoly properties to get this achievement.

Time To Collect-10 Collect your first rent payment from any other player in any mode of Richest

To get this achievement quickly play in Developer Mode as it has fewer rounds and the game will go by a whole lot quicker. You collect rent when one of the other players land on a property that you own. That player will then have to give up one of their properties as rent to you and you will get this achievement.

Expensive To Stop Here-10 Land on another player's set of hotels in any mode of Richest.

When you go play a Mode in Richest put the CPU's difficulty at High Skill as that should make it to where they put up houses and hotels faster.
The CPU first needs to have Monopoly (which is identified with gold lining around their properties). The only way they can put up hotels is by them landing on their own properties and putting 4 houses on them first. But if the difficulty is set to High Skill they should be able to get houses and hotels in no time. I also suggest playing Industrialist Mode or Tycoon Mode as Industrialist Mode has 9 rounds and Tycoon Mode has 12 rounds which will give the CPU more time to get hotels.

Sight Seer-20 Unlock a passport. Awarded to the passport holder.

You unlock passports by winning on specific boards. I got this achievement after the first game I played so you should as well. Just make sure you win the game and the achievement should unlock.

*You can use 2 controller to help you get this achievement*

Jet Setter-100 Fill all the passports. Awarded to the passport holder

Start up a game of developer with four controllers on the board you need to own properties on, do the first minigame chose what ever dice this all doesn't matter. When it asks you to speed up the round choose YES, then just finish the round until round 2 started now just quit out and all the properties you just owned in this quick run got saved, just start over another 1round speed run until you get all of them. Just don't forget to quit out only when round 2 has begun. (Credit goes to Don Manolo)

There are 9 boards in this game. You will fill passports by playing on each board in the game. Each board has a passport and by you winning on that board and you buying properties, putting up house/hotels will help fill up these passports. You will first have to unlock every board by playing on each and every board at least once either in Monopoly Version or Richest Version. This one will be the most time consuming of all the achievements but it is really not that hard. I already have 4 of my passports filled with only 3 hours of play time.

Try Something New-10 Unlock your first new board

By playing and completing one game in Monopoly Mode you will unlock at least one board maybe a few others. So just play through a Monopoly game on the classic board and once the game is over this achievement should unlock.

*You can use 2 controller to help you get this achievement*

The First MONOPOLY-50 Get the same amount of money as the year MONOPOLY was released

MONOPOLY was first released back in 1935. So you would need to get $1,935 to get this achievement. I do not know how the UK version is going to work as I do not know what the conversion rate is for $1,935. But you do have to get exactly $1,935 to get this achievement. You can't go over that amount and expect to get it.

This can easily be done with 2-4 controllers. Once you buy a property trade it with one of the other controllers and request money. What I did was got a calculator and figured out the difference from the amount of money I had to get to $1,935. Once you figure out the difference punch it into the number pad on the screen, the trade the property for it. Once you trade the property from your (profile getting achievement) player and you request money from one of the other players/controllers, simply offer the trade and once the other controller clicks accept the achievement will unlock.

Honestly it depends on what board you play on. If you play on the classic board you start out with $200 but if you play on the World board then you start out with $20 Million, which could take a little longer to complete a game. But I played a game with my family last night with the classic board and the game only lasted around an hour, so it's not as long as playing the actual board game.

Also, the Monopoly man does repeat his self a lot and he gets extremely boring halfway through a game.

Thanks, I was wondering due to real monopoly games can drag on for several hours...

Anyway, I will probably just rent this and see how it is, the achievements don't look to bad and I have to catch up with you.

It's at least worth a rental. You can get around half of the achievements after play 2 games. Their is only 3 achievements that might take a little time to get but trust me none of these achievements are hard, you just have to be patient and play through each game instead of quitting out because you get bored.

Also, dethklok you can delete your own posts. So if you would delete your last 2 posts in this thread as you triple posted.

Ive played 12 rounds on tycoon 3 times twice with the AI set to hard once with 1 one AI set to hard the other two set to easy and I still cant get them to build hotels in 12 rounds. I see you have the ach any more help would rock.
Firstly I don't have all of the achievements because I was writing the guide and I have not been on my 360 but once today. Without getting on my 360 it's kind of hard to get achievements in the game.

I got the achievement while playing a 12-round Tycoon game with the CPU skill set to easy. I was not even trying to get the achievement when I got it. But the CPU would have to first build up a Monopoly which is just pure luck as in the Richest Version the cards that you get after playing the mini-games are just random. After they get Monopoly they would have to land back on one of those properties or buy getting a Chance card and building houses then hotels. In Tycoon Mode there is also a Chance/Community Chest card that automatically gives you hotels without ever having houses. It does not really matter what skill you have the CPU set too I just said Hard as that might get them to put up hotels faster.

Very Good Guide

Excellent work, thanks for the effort. This has really helped a lot. Also, for those of you with 4 controllers you can control all 4 for the "Richest" achievements. I see references to playing the CPU on easiest, so for those of you who do not want to play against AI and have 4 controllers this method works as well.

Works extremely well for "You Are The Richest".

Thanks again!

I was going to add that but I played a game controlling all 4 players and Player 2 won the game so I did not get the achievement. If you do play a game in Richest with 4 controllers you still have to make sure Player 1 wins and the game is still just luck/chance even with 4 controllers hooked up. You're still not guaranteed to win the game.

Good Points, but not luck-based on Richest

The key is to make sure controller 1 (whoever is getting the achievement) picks the highest numbered dice in the first several rounds. This is where properties are being given out and no one owns anything yet. Based on that you will own more properties toward the middle part of the game. At the point make the other players choose the higher numbered dice and you choose the lower numbered dice as they will more than likely land on your properties and subsequently have to give you more. When community chest happens and the lowest player has to select properties make sure they aren't yours. I have played only two games and won by substantial margins ($9,000 or more) in both games using this method. In fact I owned every property (properties, utilities, railroads) on my first game of "Developer", which is the shortest game of Richest. Thanks again for the guide, it's excellent stuff.

Before the game came out on the 360 - I had already played it on another site - yes the World Edition is playable on an EA site - takes a lot longer to play it as well - considering there's 50 ranks for it

Great guide. For "You Are The Richest", I used 4 controllers on Tycoon mode of developer. This way I was sure to win every mini game and roll high early then low later to avoid taxes. In Tycoon it allows you to trade every 3 rounds (only with one other player though it seems), so I'd offer another 'player' one property for all of theirs. Once I had the majority, it was just a matter of keeping all properties on the board in play, as taxes can return them to the bank. I think I unlocked it in round 8.

I saw something about using one controller for 4 human players but I didn't know you could do that, so I ended up using 4 controllers which was a little annoying.. but someone else could confirm if you could control all 4 with one controller.

You can control all four in Classic, but not in Richest. The inconsistency there is a bit baffling.
