Introduction:
Welcome to 10 Frame Bowling; a mini game originally from the Kinect Sports retail game. Its a really simple game about bowling. This only requires arm movements. While the game itself is not that hard; getting it to register what you want it to do can be a pain sometimes. I would do light movements for a slow roll but it would shoot like a rocket. Minus the tracking issues its what you would expect from a bowling game. No glitz, no glamour just kinect bowling.

Step 1:
This is the only step and that is to hit level 10 by doing the challenges. You are given 3 at a time. When you complete 1 the next 1 in the list will unlock for you to try. Some of these challenges are straight forward and very simple and a few will be a pain because of the minor tracking issues. Each challenge is given a star rating on the scale of 1 to 3; 1 being painless and 3 being annoying. You need these stars to level up to get each of the 10 achievements.

*Special Note: With the overarm bowls being messed up and slow ball strikes being obnoxious this game may very well take up to 10 hours. This is from personal experience and is likely just an extreme case. If things work fine then this will be a near painless completion if not be prepared for a lot of frustration.

Conclusion:
Do to some tracking issues and overarm balls being harder then necessary (with not counting properly and all) This completion will likely cause problems for people. Overall though its not actually difficult just annoying to get things to count properly and the kinect to read overarm bowls properly.

There are 10 achievements with a total of 50 points

  • Reach level 10 (or observe another player doing so) to gain the rank of King Pin.

You need to earn 19 more stars after hitting level 9 to hit level 10. You will need to complete every challenge listed below in order to reach level 10.

Here are some tips to try and make this as simple as possible.

    • Make sure you are about 6 feet away from the sensor. The game will let you know when you are far enough away.
    • For strikes, make sure your throw is lined up with the center arrow. Also if your right handed stand a little to the left of the center and vice versa for left handed people.
    • Don't go overboard with throwing the ball, trying too hard can cause the ball to go into the gutter, especially in you accidentally throw it with a curve.
    • For slow balls, keep your arm straight and raise it slowly. This should cause the ball to flop onto the ground and roll slowly.
    • The overarm throws seem to be a bit glitchy. I have been told pitching it like a baseball works. I have yet to get a challenge done using over arm throws.
    • For soft throws, when bringing your arm forward do it softly and only raise it high enough to release the ball. This should release the ball slowly. Getting strikes like this is obnoxious, it needs to have an ever so slight tilt to the approach on the front pin.
